  1. What are the optics around a player on a 2-way contract not making the team and asking to be released as opposed to sent to the AHL? What are those optics for the organization?
  2. Adams got almost exactly what he said the price was.
  3. So what you are telling us is that this entire thread of hand-wringing nonsense was overblown hysteria. Dude asked to be released and Sabres were like "we understand, take luck"
  4. An injured Jack Eichel was traded for Alex Tuch and Peyton Krebs, so we did this last year. I guess we could argue it wasn't high picks (we shouldn't trade 1st round picks) and idk what prospect we should be trading for Simon Benoit.
  5. The 12 team playoff is trash. 8 is the magic number and probably always has been. It adds 1 extra game and no one needs to see Kansas State play Georgia. With 12 you have a freaking 4 team bye week in which 5 plays 12 and then you actually get to what I am talking about, what a freaking waste.
  6. Skinner has a NTC and wouldn't that indicate we are not trying to win? So do you want us to surround the team with veterans and try to win or sell off all the UFAs whenever we are short of the playoffs and let the kids really struggle the last 2 months of the season? Which is it?
  7. At least 2 of the things listed here would need to be in the Chychrun trade if I am Arizona (I added Östlund back in to what you listed btw). I bet you can lottery protect the 1st but it is in that trade, no chance in hell they will move Chychrun without a shot at another 2023 first. They aren't taking Johnson unless that replaces the 2nd round pick. They know as well as Adams that Johnson can go to August and become a UFA. Look, I am telling you what it would probably take to get him. If it were less than that, Chyrchun would have been moved. If a a 2024 1st, Johnson, a 2023 2nd, and Mitts would get it done, it would be done.
  8. Your only modification to my trade is removing JJP for Krebs 2023 Lottery Protected 1st, Östlund, Krebs instead of JJP (I don't think Arizona does this), and a 2nd in 2023 (probably the middle 2nd). Really quickly, Krebs being a 1st round pick is somewhat irrelevant right now. Again though, this is the reported asking price, are ppl willing to pay that for Chychrun? Those are the key words though. Risk is involved and Arizona is rebuilding.
  9. This point is very important. It isn't that good players defy the curve per say but that they are coming from such a higher peak they still positively contribute. Idk if he does that but xGF models try to fit goal scoring curves so they should overlay closely.
  10. xG/60 stands for expected goals per 60min of ice time. It is a metric that tries to take into account where goals are scored and how frequently to help filter out some of the noise with the randomness of hockey (if you shoot higher than average you will outproduce your xGF like Thompson has and if you shoot below average you see the inverse... Cozens). Anyways what does that have to do with this? Well here is the average age curve for NHL production. This is important when thinking about timelines of players and where they are in their careers. NOTE! you can absolutely outperform the curve but it shows us an average and most players will fall within 1 standard deviation of that average. Stop assuming every player is a special snowflake, Tage Thompson is an exception, Mitts is probably the rule. Anyways, here is the average for offense and defense. If you are really curious, there is a good discussion in this thread by Micah on this.
  11. oh like drafting first overall in 2017 and 2019 and then waiting another 2 years after 2019 to really start pushing because those 2 first overall picks take a little to grow into their games. so that is like drafting first overall in 2018 and 2020 and then waiting ... hold on... that would mean pushing this summer in 2023 if we follow the NJD timeline. Huh... interesting. BTW the Devils also drafted 4th and 2nd (I think both were lottery wins) recently so they also have 2 top flight defenders incoming next season in Hughes and Nemec.
  12. Sure but do you want to trade... 2023 1st (probably can get it top 10 protected), one of Kulich, Östlund, Savoie, one of the 2nds in 2023, and something else like Quinn or JJP for him? That is what they are asking, idk if that is what they get but they haven't budged yet. 2023 1st, Östlund, 2023 2nd, JJP for Chychrun Yes or No?
  13. We will not let you go. I think this is a beatable team but we gotta fight, claw, battle, and otherwise drag this team to a victory.
  14. Of course because then the narrative can be they are giving Sheahan ice time even though he isn't good enough because the sabres aren't prioritizing winning. Once you realize the goal here is to ***** talk the team and disagree with everything they do because you are mad at them, it all becomes really simple and clear.
  15. Let's talk about actual damaging stuff an organization can do... Here is the complaint and the appendix is where you need to go to see what it alleged to have happened.
  16. Lol. Buffalo could trade a 7th round pick in 2098 for McDavid and you'd still find a way to bitch about the move. My guess, is Sheahan asked out cuz he wants to try and get on an nhl team and Adams was like, we understand.
  17. I'm wondering if Kyle retires. He'll be 35 at seasons end and he's gotta know they next contract he gets will be way less and only 1yr or maybe 2. That means he's got the potential for waivers or to bounce around at deadlines. Maybe he says nah, and just calls it.
  18. That's what happens when you allow highly talented 5'10" 160lb players to grow up to be 5'11" 176lb players, although I think he weighs more than that. Basically I'm saying we need to be patient with Rosen, Kulich, Östlund, and Kisakov
  19. GA, Michigan, TCU, and USC are the 4. I suppose someone could implode during conference championship week but the top 3 I think are locks.
  20. This is exactly what's happening. Panthers panicked after an unlucky playoff loss and njd are benefiting
  21. I'm gonna get to read this stuff after every loss aren't I? "Adams didn't do anything to help" "Granato isn't as good is *insert other coach here*" Sounds fun.
  22. He wasn't imo but he played far better than he has recently. Best player to me was Quinn. He just controls pace with the puck. Jjp also had a great pass to Cozens for the tap in but Cozens couldn't cash it.
  23. Jack Quinn and JJP have been pretty solid tonight.
  24. Oh good. Got worried when they tied it with 48 seconds left.
