His defensive game is weak and his motor isn't the highest.

2 things. First is it won't cost 10mil to extend him now and I even think 8mil is probably a touch high. Second, there is a very real possibility that if you bridge that 10mil number is wrong and you are talking 12-13mil for an 8 year deal 4 years from now. The cap will go up, it is artificially low and Seattle revenue is all getting dumped in the pot. If Power settles in as a Norris candidate who gives you 50-60pts a season and is 6'6"... Idk what the math looks like in 2027 on that new deal. IMO, I would give Power either a 1yr extension just sign him this summer for 8yrs.

Why anyone wants OEL I'll never understand. Is he big? No, but average Is he a gritty player? No Is he a rhd? No Does he play a shutdown game? No Is he young with runway to improve? No What's the appeal? "I've heard of him before." -

No surprise, Beniers wins the RotY -
Wouldn't that be something if he slides... I think past 11 though is unlikely.

I'm good with that.

I'd expect Arizona to pick Leonard or Dvorsky at 6 and Willander or ASP at 12.

Dark horse for pick 13,

Forton said they specifically talk about how the position a guy plays doesn't matter. Basically they double check their bias to make sure that's not why a player is ranked over another.

No it doesn't. I have no idea what you have read that said that but I will flat out say it is wrong to trade down in the first round of the NHL draft. Every single analysis of historical draft trends show that the further back in the draft you get the more luck is involved and the more unlikely you become to get an NHL player. In the NFL you can move back and still get an NFL player because you know what you are getting. I am fuming that this is your conclusion because it is ass backwards. If pick 13 yields an NHL players 58% of the time and you think it is a good idea to trade down to 25 (30% NHL hit rate) because you pick up a 2nd rounder (20% hit rate) idk what to say to that. It gets worse the further down you move. For example if you trade out of round 2 (pick 45) and you get a 3rd a 5th and 6th, you have effectively done nothing more than give yourself less of a chance at an NHL player. It is why trading up for JJP made sense. https://dobberprospects.com/2020/05/16/nhl-draft-pick-probabilities/

No the guy who wrote the tweet you are referring to literally said it was sarcasm.

Yup, ***** it, trade for Pesce and re-sign him. Worry about when and if that becomes an issue later.

Full trade:

Historical data says there is a huge difference between 13 and 24 in the NHL draft. Trading down in the NHL draft is terrible idea in the first round and sometimes the 2nd. This isn't the NFL.

Yup. Dylan Cozens: 6'3" 22yrd old Tage Thompson: 6'7" 25yrs old Alex Tuch: 6'4" 27yrs old Jordan Greenway: 6'6" 26yrs old only 2 forwards that are 5'11" (none are under that) are JJP and Skinner On defense... Rasmus Dahlin: 6'3" 23yrs old Owen Power: 6'6" 20yrs old Mattias Samuelson: 6'4" 23yrs old Ilya Lyubushkin: 6'2" 29yrs old The only defender under 6' is Jacob Bryson I fully expect the BPA at 13 to either be Simashev or a forward. Honzek, Richie, Musty and Barlow would all be options that are over 6' tall.
-
The Sabres are 16th in average height btw. Florida Panthers were 23rd. Vegas was 5th (hence Pronman's take). The big bad bruins were 18th. This myth is coming back and I knew it would. That the Sabres are this small team of cute little powder puffs. They aren't. They are basically league average. On defense, they are above league average if we pretend Bryson doesn't exist. If you can add talent with size, excellent do it. However and I always say this, don't draft the Maveric Lamoureux's of the world when the Issac Howard's of the world give you a far better talent level.
-
Sometimes.

I'd love all our forwards to be Alex Tuch (6'4") but I won't overdraft tall dudes for being tall, see Maveric Lamoureux

Anybody wanna draft Canadian JJP?
