I'm not doing your research for you. Again, I was asked what I would have wanted Adams to do based on the offseason. I would have tried to offer sheet Swayman. We didn't, the goalies aren't good enough and relying on UPL and Comrie isn't smart gm-ing.
-
That wasn't the question. It also doesn't matter. Adams didn't find a way to improve the goalies.
-
I would have offer sheeted Swayman.
-
If they write this again next year, Novikov might be listed. Good for Kulich getting recognition. It's gonna be fun when he finally arrives.
-
If you start UPL 30 times in 2023/2024, you're not making the playoffs.
-
The implication here is you can trade Rosen or Östlund for a legit starting or solid backup keeper and I don't think that's true.
-
No he won't. He's going to be a low grade backup in the league with maybe 1-2 years of solid backup/borderline starter play before falling off again. It is also on Adams for not doing something to improve that. Running back Comrie AND UPL is a major mistake regardless of Levi.

Dahlin or Power, Who Will Have The Better Career?
LGR4GM replied to bob_sauve28's topic in The Aud Club
Dahlin was better defensively because he played on a worse team. That's the issue with these comparisons. Dahlin played for a team that was bad and Power played for a team that was a bubble team. Dahlin is the better player and that isn't a knock on Owen Power who I have come to really like and appreciate. Power is like 90% of Dahlin and could get even closer but for now, Dahlin is truly a level above. Really excited for Power to have with Clifton and to see him in his 2nd season. I expect a really big jump up. -

Exactly. People have totally forgotten how good rookie Dahlin was. F Ralph Krueger -

Rookie Dahlin was better than Rookie Power. Also Dahlin is a better skater and possesses puck skills Power has only shown flashes of. I can't agree with what you say here. It's fun that we have 2 #1 defenders though -
I have doubts that Leinonen makes the team as anything other than the 3rd goalie. I would like to add though that for those who continually rank Östlund low or suggest he can easily be traded, Being 1c on the WJC20 for Sweden is no small task. Östlund has a ton of skills that he brings to the table and his only real issue at the moment is strength. Very interested to see what he looks like should he be on team Sweden (which is almost guaranteed)

Dumba will never be a Sabre. By 2024, Novikov will be beating down the doors and Samuelsson will be doing what he can do hold him off.
-
Wait a second, I have been told numerous times on this board the Sabres are totally screwed because they don't have more guys with playoff experience in their top 6 but you are telling me Jack Eichel in his first playoffs was really good!?! Without prior experience? How can that be? All joking aside, idk who is better. Tage and Jack play differently so it is a hard comparison.

I dont love this idea but could see them doing it. Lines look like... Skinner - Mitts - Tuch Peterka - Thompson - Cozens This ^^ is a possibility with Quinn out and would keep a right handed shooter at the RW spot. I do feel that in todays NHL that the wingers flip a lot so handedness is not exceedingly important but it does allow for cross ice one timer options if you have at least 1 of each. The other part of your idea, I don't mind at all. Tatar for a year or two isn't a bad thing and would most likely be an upgrade over Olofsson. I just don't think we will do that sadly. I would add that right now, the Sabres should not be trading Olofsson for a pick IMPO. I would trade him for a different type of winger as we still need forward depth in case of injury. The defensive depth has improved but until Kulich, Savoie, Benson, Rosen? are ready (Spring 2024), we don't have a ton of forward depth if injuries get bad (aka 2-3 of the top 9 go down). Greenway - Krebs - Tatar? or Rousek (but in your scenario Olofsson is gone) Zemgus - Jost - Okposo
-
Disagree with both points. Krebs and Greenway might be great together. Okposo, Zemgus, and Jost already were a good defensive line. We don't know what 24yr old Rousek will bring.
-
This isn't logical at all
-
The big name prospects aren't ready yet. The fun part is how good we are before they are.
-
That would be my guess. Idk if that's right, it's certainly a question but I feel as though we can handle it.
-
The main regression argument has some merit, but it relies on xgf and xgf has reached a mythical status at this point. Tage is going to outscore his xgf because he has a great shot. Tuch finally had a full season and a top line role. Peterka will be better. Cozens, idk what he'll do but better seems likely. Skinner is the wild card impo.
-
What you're not realizing or are ignoring is that Quinn as a rookie produced X, that's all you have to replace. Why? Because this was the 3rd highest scoring nhl team last year and even with some regression they will be top 10. So, no I'm not worried about replacing what Quinn brought. I think adding Greenway and a more experienced Krebs, coupled with Rousek makes up for what Quinn brought. Now the counter you'll say is, what about Quinn this year! But it's not relevant because you don't need to replace his offense this year, the team is already good enough there.
-
No in my view, Quinn to Mitts isn't a downgrade.
-
No. The 3rd highest scoring team in the NHL will be fine.
-
Slant? Idk what that means. The teams gonna be fine without adding another forward.
-
And? Skinner - Thompson - Tuch Peterka - Cozens - Mitts Greenway - Krebs - Olofsson or Rousek Zemgus - Jost - Okposo
-
We're also forgetting we added a vet forward already. Greenway. I see no reason why Mitts won't produce the same value.
