Jiri Kulich will not turn 19 until April 14th. This matters because he has basically played his entire AHL season as an 18yr old which is exceedingly uncommon. During that time the 6' 180lb C/W (I think he is going to end up at wing) has managed to get 19g, 18a, in 52games. He is rolling at a 0.712ppg pace this season which is his first in NA but his 2nd playing in a men's pro league as he was in the Czech Men's league (Extraliga is the common name) in his draft year. Now the question is how do you handle Mr. Kulich going into 2023. I think he needs to stay in the AHL. For as good as his individual skills are, there is refinement needed in his game that would be easier to do in the AHL. He can get a callup or 2 next year but I would make sure he stays below the 10 game threshold and allow him to round out his game a bit more. In my perfect world, he is the replacement of Olofsson as I think his shot is very good but he has more in his game than VO. Also, he still needs what most 18yr olds need, strength. I think this recap from Elite Prospects before the draft is very important because you see and hear some of the issues that I still think exist. He needs to improve his overall game and playmaking as well as his deception. I timestamped it to start on the Kulich bit but if that does not work, check the video description.
