I'm retracting my previous statement, I think this draft does have potential to be deep. It's certainly deeper than 2022 I think. Obviously that can change but it's got more promise I think.

The variable here is when are we saying this "2nd" rebuild or just rebuild (because it being Buffalo's 2nd is irrelevant to the success) began and what has happened. We have established that they both started in 2018-2019; that is our starting point. The before is only relevant when we look at assets going into it. I just don't think we have a conclusion to who did it the correct way yet. Right now, NJD look like being aggressive last couple years to add pieces was the smarter move and has them ahead. What happens when Buffalo's JJP and Quinn and Power age into the players that NJD had to trade for? Should be interesting this season if Adams goes out and gets a quality top 4 defender and a depth piece on defense. With that and Levi, I think the gap between the teams will look closer.

I just get this feeling that Benson is going to slide because in that Seattle playoff series teams saw how Savoie and Benson could be pushed to the outside and then you have Vegas winning with big defenders. I think the recency bias will kick in especially because Benson came in at just under 5'10" at the combine.

To replace Kyle and Zemgus you are looking at paying someone else at minimum 1mil so that covers 2mil of the 5mil they are getting for 1 year. You are essentially saying that we couldn't sign a 3c because we don't have 3extra million bucks on top of the 14million we currently have. It makes no sense. We could sign any 3c on the market right now for 8million bucks and still have money left over.

Obviously and especially for defenders it has advantages but I think that in the 5'10"-6'1" range it is all basically the same. 5'9" and smaller is an issue and once you start getting into the 6'3" range I can see where it comes as a benefit... until about 6'6" where limbs start to become to big with a few exceptions (Owen Power).

Jost, Krebs, Mitts, Savoie. There isn't more value in using a 13th overall pick to upgrade over any of those 4. For the 45th overall pick, sure but using a 13th overall to upgrade Mitts or Krebs to ...idk declining ROR type is just meh.
