Benson is an outlier, we shouldn't compare or expect others to emulate him. He shouldn't have been drafted 13th overall but more like 4th. I think the only player that could fit that seconded bolded is Savoie. Rosen might be able to handle the 3rd line now I suppose. That said, Adams hoping and wishing on his lucky penny that some 20/21yr old prospect without NHL games shows up and is serviceable is the exact attitude that failed him last year. He should be addressing roster holes by adding bonafide NHL talent, not hoping some kid might if he wishes hard enough be useful.

When the Sabres add Pavelski and Johnston, let me know. Also, I think the OP's point was that the Sabres don't play anywhere near the type of game needed to win the playoffs. The Sabres are like wet tissue paper and the 4 remaining playoff teams are like tempered steel.

I think he is gritty and I don't feel he falls as much as you're saying.
-
Not to nitpick but you mean at 21 and barely at 22. Not 19 and 20. Quinn will be 23 in September. Unless you're talking about him in Rochester at 20
-
I all but completely disagree with your take on Quinn here. I look forward to him in 2024.
-
They like Krebs, they are good give him a good couple months at 3c before doing anything. Adams has basically said it. He's looking for guys to round out the bottom 6.
-
I've literally and repeatedly said Adams isn't doing anything and won't do anything of substance. I explored if he could with the assets at hand and he can. Not coupled to Cirelli, probably a 3rd or 4th round pick does it.
-
It does not matter what we trade. Bryson and Jokiharju have to move. Rosen Kulich, and 11 are assets teams would want. Pick whatever combination you're good with of that to get Cirelli and Jeannot. The trade isn't what freaking matters. Being better and making the playoffs matters more to me than figuring out what the exact combinations of some mythical trade are. Besides, Adams ain't doing ***** anyways. He's gonna run back Krebs and add 2 over the hill ufas at 1 mill a piece.
-
And he's only here 1 year if he sucks. We're also adding him because he's physical and the prize would be Cirelli. So we can get Cirelli. You're worried about winning a trade, I'm worried about getting better. In this case, these may not line up.
-
Again, I added to the trade so Tampa would have interest. You can't have it both ways. You can't be like "that's to much!" but then be like "Tampa wouldn't have interest in this other more legitimate trade." Also, you don't have to sign those players to 4mil dollar offers. Jokiharju's QO is not 4million so idk where that comes from and Bryson is easily worth 1.5mil as a 7th defender.
-
I overpaid in my offer to make sure it got done and because there was nothing outside of Kulich we couldn't afford to part with. Sure, that proposal should probably be short Rosen but I ask myself where I put Rosen in the next 3 years and my answer is always 3rd line or lower, I can always trade for a player like that or sign one in UFA if allllll the other guys we have don't work out. Bryson might be nice to keep but in this scenario we can't afford him and he is being replaced by Johnson. Kulich, 11, and Joker is a solid trade for 7 years of Cirelli. Is it an overpay? Yes, in reality you probably include Kulich or 11 but not both and Rosen makes up the other part. Cirelli +Jeanott for Kulich, Joker, Rosen, Bryson and our 2nd round pick is probably a better trade and more likely but in my scenario, I wanted to make sure it was done and I didn't get the response of "LMAO Tampa would say no and hang up the phone!" which we haven't. The important part IMPO is not the trade details in their minutia but in the roster we then have. JJP - Tage - Tuch Skinner/Benson - Cozens - Quinn Skinner - Benson - Cirelli - Jeanot/Savoie/Greenway Greenway - Krebs - Smith Byram - Dahlin Power - Tanev Samuelsson - Clifton Johnson - Chatfield how we get here is of little importance, getting here though is a good idea. Gives us options on all lines and depth with veteran talent. Cirelli and Smith and Tanev have tons of playoff experience.
-
This board is incapable of giving Reinhart the credit for how he played here.
-
as far as the 500k retention, you dont have to do that, you can still make a trade without it.
-
I'll worry about Kulich scoring 40 when he does it in the AHL. Outside of Kulich, would you even miss any of the rest of that? I wouldn't and winning is the goal, not trade values.
-
Quick note, the value on Cirelli is hard to gauge. Most trades like this are a 1st round pick, a good prospect, and a decent or good roster player. I think the roster player part is lacking from Buffalo although I think a team would value Jokiharju especially since he is an RFA. I added both Kulich and Rosen because Kulich is a top prospect and I think Rosen does have value, this makes up for the lack of value with Joker. Bryson is there because I had to move him off the team and Tampa might be interested him as a cheap 8th defender option, he certainly is as good is anything else they have but he could be dropped from this trade. Jeannot is somewhat of a Tampa cap dump which keeps the value on Cirelli more manageable for Buffalo, or you can say Jeannot for Rosen and Bryson if that makes sense.

In an ideal world, Adams does 3 things. He brings in a middle 6 forward like Cirelli to create competition and in case someone falls off or gets injured. He brings in 2 brand new bottom 6 guys with character that aren't under 25, I am talking about 28yr old grizzled veterans who have won in the playoffs a bit. Finally number 3, he moves on from Jokiharju and Bryson and backfills those spots with Ryan Johnson and a RHD that can play alongside Power, a veteran, such as Tanev. This leaves us with 22 players, $86,871,070 in caphits and $828,930 in capspace, so we could add a guy like Savoie if there is an injury (which there will be).

I always forget how absolutely garbage the NHL Central Scouting Rankings are. Yikes. That said, I am really sad that Adam Jiricek either played like crap in the Czech pro league for 19 games or played all of 1 period (I think it was only 1 but it was 1 game) in the WJC20. There just isn't a lot to go on with him and there isn't even a viewing after his knee surgery to see where he is at. This is a wildcard type of pick. San Jose might be a good option because their 2nd 1st round pick at 14 would be a good spot and they have the benefit of already getting Celebrini, which could take the sting off a potential miss. I think Jiricek plays NHL games because he is going to be pretty solid but is he a 5th defender with 25pts a year and good defensive chops or is he a 55pt first pairing beast who destroys opponents in his own end (he is physical, I can say that much). Hard to tell and since I love his brother a lot (can we trade for David Jiricek? Please?) I may be hoping baby Jiricek is more of the same. Anyways, only brought this up because CSS has him ranked 4th for Euro skaters and that's tough considering we haven't seen him play a game since December. Also he won't be 18 until June 28th.

My signed RJ Pennant and Puck are really nice.
-
I think it's delusional to think Adams is looking to add a 1 or 2c to this team, hence why I don't talk about any.
-
Why? and what makes him one of our top centers?

Zach Benson is far more than a 5'10" pest. He isn't right, he's simplifying and dumbing down what the draft should be. Let's say that 163lb 5'11" Berkly Catton slides to 11, should Buffalo not draft him because 6'2" Bennett Sennecke is there? I'd easily say no, just like last year they shouldn't have passed on Zach Benson to take Matthew Wood. Iginla is all but guaranteed to be gone. I can't see any scenario where Iginla makes it past Calgary. Ftr Iginla, Tij is only 6' tall so he isn't exactly a monster. The good news is that outside of Catton (who won't be there at 11) there isn't any smaller forwards to even draft. Eiserman (6' 196lbs), Iginla (6' 185lbs), Greentree (6'2" 198lbs), Sennecke (6'2" 181lbs), Brandsegg-Nygard (6'1" 198lbs), Lindstrom (6'4" 216lbs) are all 6ft tall or bigger. I suppose Helenius is "small" because he is 5'11" but that is the only forward that could be there at 11 that is under 6ft. There isn't a defender either that would be there that is under 6ft. Basically what I am saying is Hamilton's take is lazy. A. size does not equal grit and Benson and Quinn are perfect examples of that. B. there simply is not a forward in this draft who will be available at 11 that is small because I just don't believe Catton slides.

Their GM literally said no chance in hell yesterday. https://www.prohockeyrumors.com/2024/05/ottawa-senators-not-shopping-brady-tkachuk.html

Like 5'10" Zach Benson? Size does not equal hard to play against. Also, anyone you draft at 11 is what? 3 years from the NHL and 4-6 years away from mattering in the NHL. You ain't fixing toughness anytime soon with that method.
