It's dumb luck. The team he has the most direct input on is trash and has been trash almost since he walked through the door. Terry Pegula is a problem and keeping his yes man unqualified lackey in the GM chair is more proof of just how woefully full of ***** Terry has become. He smells his own farts and calls it roses.

Mock it out, lottery edition NY Isles: Matthew Schaefer San Jose: Michael Misa Chicago: Porter Martone Utah: James Hagens Nashville: Caleb Desnoyers Philly: Brady Martin Boston: Roger McQueen Seattle: Anton Frondell Buffalo: Carter Bear Anaheim: Victor Eklund
-
So Terry Pegula. Glad we've reached consensus.
-
Why are the Sabres bad? Tell us. What about Terry Pegula's decision making with the Sabres has been even remotely good?
-
He won't be an nhl player for 3 years.
-
Why aren't the Sabres good? Square that circle.
-
O'Brien has a ton of playmaking.
-
Do you get provided a bucket or do you have to bring your own? Bills are good because Terry is kept out of football decisions and Josh Allen is the best QB Bandits are good because as far as we know, Terry doesn't give a flying F about them. Amerks are good because of Karmanos and the fact the Sabres draft top 10 year after year. But hey, keep carrying that water for the franchise sunshine. Also if Terry gave a ***** about the Sabres being good, he'd have fired Adams and the coaching staff by now. Dude just wants to save money for his football stadium over runs.

My issue is O'Brien isn't very physical and we need that.

To everyone clamoring for the Sabres to trade the pick

I'd make the trade bigger. Get Dobson and Barzal. Edit: if the islanders want to rebuild. -
He's never made the playoffs. His contract handouts are questionable. His teams have gotten worse each of the last 3yrs. He admitted he got Byram just cuz. He admitted he's never gotten a partner for Power. He drafted Quinn over Rossi. He promoted Appert and is grooming him for HC. He lied about the previous coach search. He's a self defeating poor leader. So Terry Pegula, why TF is Adams still GM?

We can reasonably assume these players will be gone: Schaefer, Misa, Hagens, Desnoyers, Martone, Frondell. There's ways to get Martin to 9 but him going 7 or 8 makes sense if the upwards trend of the last month continues. If he's gone you can take McQueen or Bear. Those are likely the best options.
-
I don't love Mrtka. His outlet passing is questionable. His offensive zone game is just ok. Really he's a #3/4 defender with good gap control and some physicality. If he was 3" shorter, he'd be a late teens early 20s pick. I hope for 2 things to happen now. McQueen goes in the top 8 and anther defender goes top 8 as well. Maybe something like: Schaefer, Misa, Desnoyers, Hagens, Martone, McQueen, Smith, Frondell, then Buffalo.
-
I think character matters for bpa or the characteristics of how you play. For example, I value Bear and Martin more than O'Brien even though the latter might score more nhl points. To your point on defenders, I think 2 will go top 8. I just don't believe we'll see 7 forwards taken after Schaefer.
-
He's closer to 170 now but that doesn't really matter to your og point. It's possible they draft him at 9 but I personally feel that they'll lean in other directions.
-
5'11" but I wouldn't count out Victor Eklund. He's a fiesty chaos creator. That said I think we'll look elsewhere. Eklund isn't going to fit their profile impo.

I've basically always argued for guys that can play in the muck, like Benson. I think being tough and battling is a very important hockey trait. I don't equate it with size like just about 90% of this board it seems. I'm looking for heart, miles and miles of heart. I think Martin and Bear have that. McQueen might but he gets injured so that's tough. Eklund has it too. Helenius and Zeimer fall into this as well. Toughness in the NHL today needs to be a pack mentality. Lindy Ruff talked about that at one point this year. You get their by finding those players in the draft and via trade.
-
No. Dylan Cozens is just bad defensively and the league figured that out. You need team toughness, which is what Florida has. The "manhandling" didn't intimidate Tampa, it out worked Tampa. You're babbling on like it's 1987 and we need some 4th line fighter to protect Gretzky. Quick question, how old are you? When did you first watch hockey? I'm working on a theory. To the bold, keep that up, see how far it gets you with me.
-
Lol. Keep on keeping on.

What if, and stay with me, we put the pick in a package with other assets. Ik ik Adams isn't good enough for that but we can dream. -
"I assumed that you were suggesting keeping Adams somehow led to us not winning." Yes, I am suggesting that keeping Adams has kept the team from winning games. Hook. Line. Sinker.
