  1. Jiricek doesn't use his body? And isn't a good skater?
  2. 8 week recovery for Quinn after he had surgery today.
  3. When draft reports and tracking data come out, this is something you should be looking at and thinking about. It is why Benson transitioned to the NHL faster and easier than Savoie imo. It is also why, with additional muscle, Östlund might be a quietly decent middle 6 player (but he still has a lot of questions). Things to think about when you look at prospects.
  4. Y'all say David Jiricek might be available?!?
  5. They are. Our coaching staff broke their own team and stubbornly refuse to address it. Our gm refuses to trade any of his precious guys because vibes. We're drafting top 10 again and it's at least 13yrs of no playoffs and counting. I hope Terry sells the team.
  6. He's dropped a bit actually. I don't see a player as good as David. He would be someone to think about in the 10-15 range. That's a list of players I find interesting, not a draft order or ranking.
  7. Granato changed the system to be slower. More defensive and slower which don't have to go hand and hand. The result is a boring team that looks like crap most nights until they're in a hole and revert back to running and gunning.
  8. Silayev at 2 is odd. I don't think he is the top defender in this draft and certainly not one of the top 3 players in this draft. In no particular order outside of Celebrini (who is the best in this draft by far), Levshunov, Lindstrom, Demidov, Nygard, and maybe Jiricek are the most interesting guys that Buffalo will have chances at. There is also Catton and Connelly but they feel similar to things we have. Still too early but McKenzie's rankings are always... interesting
  9. And there's my issue with sabrespace lately. It's a lot of made up nonsense and conspiracy theories. Tage and PEDs, Greenway requesting a trade, Victor olofsson is better than Benson. We're not discussing reality anymore. But it doesn't matter, that's what the community here wants. PA was correct.
  10. See the mods deleted what I said. I stand by it. It's garbage to accuse Tage of using PED'S, a post you have left up. 1.5% below career average sh% doesn't indicate ped use. Absolutely disgusting commentary.
  11. Alright, now that's done. I think Thompson has regressed back to shooting slower. He's being too cutesy and not firing fast enough. It plagued him in his younger years. On top of that I don't think Tuch has been very good and that's hindered Tage because he needs strong wingers. A system adjustment would help.
  12. Monken firmly believes in half time adjustments.
  13. I could see us do almost nothing at the deadline.
  14. No. He's only ever mentioned because there's a perception around here and this place runs on rumors and fake news. Stop hiring first time coaches, period. When he stops acting like a child and actually tries to make the playoffs as opposed to just create good vibes.
  15. Meh, the season is over. They won't fire Granato until the postseason anyways and then they'll have a bigger list of candidates.
  16. Never had my opinion of a coach change so quickly. I'd like to thank Alex Tuch for the Tampa win. His weak, awful, lazy, lackadaisical, and otherwise piss poor efforts on the point for that pp cost us the game.
  17. You are familiar with sh% then. For example if TNT has a sh% of 15 that means on every 100 shots he takes we expect him to get 15 goals. Sh% is a function of Goals/Shots. For GSAx (Goals Saved Above Expected) instead of applying sh% to a player, it gets applied to type of shot + location on ice where shot is taken. Instead of TNT having a sh% of 15, Wrist Shot from the Right Circle has a Sh% of say 10%. That is every wrister from that spot on the ice across the league. You then take the decimal for that (0.1) and over the course of a game, you add that up. So if there are 10 wrist shots taken from the right circle, that would be 10x0.1 and get you 1 goal. If your goalie saves all those shots, they would have 1 goal saved above expected because we expected 1 goal out of those 10 shots. Basically you are replacing a players sh% with a % that is (Type of Shot + Location) and then using the decimal point to cumulatively count up the value of those shots. League wide shots on average shots are usually worth like 0.1 goals per shot taken (roughly) so over the course of a game where a team shoots 30 times, you end up with 3 goals on average. If your goalie allows fewer than 3 goals, that gets subtracted so they saved say 1goal above expected. I am using simple math here because usually you see an GSAx at like 3.27 or something like that. Hope that helps. Just think of Shot Type + Location as a player and apply sh% to that, then add that up over the course of a game. There are more complicated GSAx formulas but they all basically have this underlying them. Some take into account individual players taking the shot or shot speed, or pre shot movement etc... but they still look at Location and Shot Type.
  18. No he didn't. This thread is based on nothing. Literally nothing.
  19. There's a Czechia and Slovakia Sabres fan group that has been here for a week and the Sabres have done a bunch of stuff with/for them. They've been very fun at games if anyone has seen them.
