  1. Wait, are we saying Adams did poorly in getting a 2nd-rounder for Hall? The guy was just given away for free. 😜
  2. Yes. Adams using 13 for Michkov and doing nothing else is a lot different than him using 13 for Michkov and signing Graves, or trading Olofsson, and lesser prospects/picks for Hanifin. Your opinion will be given the proper weight as I reconsider my position.
  3. In a vacuum, I would much rather have 13 turned into Michkov than Hanifin or Pesce.
  4. Toffoli is similar but better and he got Sharangovich and a 3rd. Sharangovich is similar but worse and he and a 3rd got Toffoli. 🤷
  5. Not sure you mean by "pop" but you probably couldn't get a better "value" comparable for Krebs. Same position, same pedigree, similar stats.
  6. Yes, “in”, and Nova Scotia I believe
  7. Report out of Vancouver that Ryan Graves not planning on signing with Canada. I think Pesce and Hanifin are more attractive pieces and better players, but Graves certainly fits what we are looking for and you have to think he’s high on our radar, and probably vice versa.
  8. Kinda slipping by in here, but is “Blackwood to the Sharks for a 6th” the 1st move we’ve seen where we wonder if it was on Adams’ radar? Personally, I think Blackwood is both anti-vibes and a questionable talent and would rather keep UPL, but do any of you think this was a missed opportunity?
  9. What are the numbers for forwards? Does Ryan O’Reilly’s game drop by 5 per cent on the wing compared to centre? How about Sam Reinhart’s? Dylan Cozens? Do you actually know we aren’t short-circuiting Mitts by playing him on the wing? Or is that all VO’s fault?
  10. For some. And now we’re right back to where we started 😄
  11. Sure, but aren’t we handcuffing Krebs by forcing him to play with the geezers? Are we really going to get everything we should from Savoie by playing him on the wing? Aren’t we going to have to trade Östlund because we don’t have a slot for him?
  12. A team that had Thompson Mittelstadt Cozens and Krebs on their roster already, went out invested 3 first round picks on centres last year. I was perfectly fine with that - partly because I believe the more options you have the better, but mostly because I believe they were all good players and good value for the pick. Pick the best player and it will all sort itself out.
  13. That it’s June 27 and the Sabres haven’t made the playoffs yet?
  14. Sorry @Thorny but you know I don’t share that particular set of concerns. I’m going to be quite happy if Simashev is a Sabre: big kid, beautiful skater, understands the game, knows how to defend
  15. I too am angry and disgusted we weren’t in on Taylor Hall and Kevin Hayes.
  16. 😄I spend way too much time around here and I don’t know that I’ve seen a single poster advocating that we acquire OEL. Ive seen one asking if we should look into it, and a couple others fatalistically posting that we’ll probably end up with him. Guess I need to pay more attention to what’s going on.
  17. For what it’s worth Friedman was asked what teams he expects to aggressively pursue upgrades over the draft/free agency period. He said: Detroit, St. Louis, Ottawa, Winnipeg (they want to reset not rebuild) and Buffalo. Also, Max Comtois probably not being qualified. A youngish player I used to like who has sucked.
  18. My post was entirely tongue-in-cheek; I'm not among the Sabrespacers weeping over his loss. But yes, he was good this year in Seattle in a protect-the-house 3rd pairing kind of way.
  19. I read some where that the Sabres analytics staff has been paying particular attention to zone entries. OEL was literally the 3rd worst player in the NHL at preventing zone entries. The next week will be a good litmus for a lot of Sabres watchers still skeptical of the trend under the current regime.
  20. It's pretty clearly their impression of the type of path they expect this management to take, sprinkled with their expectations for the level of player interest in Buffalo.
  21. Bring him home Kevy. You don't know what this means to people.
  22. It was a comment made by the director of NHL's Central Scouting, who called him his favourite defenceman in the draft. It got a lot of play because of who he is and the fact Morin is rated as a 2nd round pick by most. Central Scouting had him ranked as #19 overal and #2 among defencemen in North America. The consensus top 4 D overall are all Europeans. Morin is an average-sized puckmover who put up good numbers in the Q. https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/599308/etienne-morin
  23. These things often look like this and people seldom revisit the breakdown. Just remember that at least 20 voters thought Noah Cates was a better rookie than Jack Quinn and not one thought JJ Peterka was among the top 5.
  24. Baker flipped it, had them going D early (Reinbacher) because less of a drop-off to 12 for forwards. (He had Benson there at 12). Either way, they should get a nice piece at each position.
