  1. Criticisms of Adams are not exonerations of Eichel, at least not from me. I hope that is not your perception of my position.
  2. Not sure exactly what you are looking for, but lots of info in here, from yesterday and today:
  3. I saw it on Twitter. One of the reporter's feeds. I think Lysowski?
  4. Probably not. It could be something like a team gets to protect X number of prospects and you get your pick of the rest, I suppose. Wasn't really focused on the specifics, more just the value.
  5. I think Skinner's greatest strength and his greatest weakness is his tendency to freelance. He can be a hard guy to build chemistry with because he's not predictable and he doesn't play give and go hockey. I think Cozens will get frustrated playing with him. R2 seems to me to be much more unflappable and structured in his game, much more likely to do the right thing regardless of what Jeff is up to and provide a stable platform that Jeff can bounce off. Also, his shot and Jeff's ability to rebound would seem to combine together offensively better than a Cozens or Mitts looking to set Jeff up to snipe only to find he's not where they expected him to be. I'm not as familiar with Hinostoza's game, but I do expect him to be pretty responsible defensively and use his speed to force the kind of turnovers Jeff can feast off of, while meshing well with R2's stability and providing more offence than guys like Lazar and Sheahan.
  6. Basically what Weave said value-wise with conditionals to cover the boom or bust factor: A young player, a prospect or pick equivalent to a top 10-20 pick (Krebs, Turcotte, Zary) A prospect or pick equivalent to a late first/early second (Elvenes, Perreault) A cap equalizing veteran with some value on the ice, or as an asset to be flipped (Smith, Quick) A conditional prospect or pick equivalent to a top 10-20 pick for the Sabres if Jack comes back as Jack A conditional prospect or pick equivalent to a top 10-20 pick for the other team if Jack doesn't come back Net result would be something like Turcotte and Quick for Jack if he busts; Turcotte Quick, Kupari and a 1st if he booms; Turcotte, Quick and Kupari if he breaks even. It balances out the risk.
  7. My preferred mix in terms of chemistry, in no particular order: Skinner Ruotsalainen Hinostroza Bjork Cozens Olofsson Asplund Mittelstadt Thompson Caggiula Girgensons Okposo Could flip Bjork and Hino, but what I like is each line has some speed, some responsibility and some finish (except the fourth), and they are all balanced. Probably the best thing there is no Eakin šŸ˜
  8. To clarify, that was me ordering the lines and they didn't all practice together. Two of them were on blue squad and two on gold.
  9. Anyone want to talk about what's happening on the ice? Day one line combos: Skinner Cozens Olofsson Bjork Mittelstadt Thompson Caggiula Girgensons Okposo Asplund Ruotsalainen Hinostroza
  10. That's a fair ask IMO.
  11. While this is mostly true, he only played a total of 55 games in his 22- and 23-year-old seasons combined due to injury and COVID. And you have applied the Kruger factor in the cases of other prospects. For me, the jury is still out.
  12. Some good stuff in this thread recently. The bolded seems to be the most logical compromise to this prisoner's dilemma. @LGR4GMI mostly enjoy what you bring to this place, but you've got this tendency to make these grand sweeping proclamations apropos of god knows what. There have been hundreds of posts about this situation on Sabrespace, I'd be surprised if there are a dozen that come close to approximating blind, logically void temper tantrums. Unless you feel that anyone who disagrees with your position on Eichel/Adams is, by definition, throwing a tantrum? This thread you just bombed has more posts defending Adams than it does criticizing him, and by a clear margin. And the vast majority on either side are of the nature of "I disagree with you man, and here's why"
  13. Iā€™ve been thinking of that too. The Sabres and Patty disagreed on the medical course of action. Instead of forcing him to adhere to his contract and their diagnosis, the Sabres traded him for well below expected market value to a team who was willing to let Patty play. Player got what he wanted, Sabres got better in spite of that.
  14. Jack has more than enough money to walk away from a situation that is making his life miserable if he wants to. It certainly wouldnā€™t be my first choice, but itā€™s a choice I might make if I had the opportunity and was in his shoes. Its really about how much faith he has in ADR and how adamant he is against fusion. Iā€™m curious about how many teams are open to ADR and if the league is opposed to it.
  15. Respectfully as well, thought-provoking meant exactly that: raising questions worthy of debate. The question being raised for me was whether or not the Sabres degree of risk in this situation morally justifies the action of denying an individual the right to make an informed decision about a life-altering health issue. Your second paragraph is a red herring. Or do you actually think the Sabres would let Jack have the surgery if he released them from the contract? I bet Jack would void the contract and take the surgery if he could. Arenā€™t the Sabres also trying to have their cake (medical control) and eat it too (full value trade return)? They certainly have the contractual right to do that, but should they be exercising it?
  16. The good news is the Athleticā€™s statistical model projects the Buffalo Sabres should get 70 points this year. The bad news is thatā€™s dead last in the league, a half-point behind the Coyotes. Their chance of making the playoffs? 0.3 % https://theathletic.com/2815543/2021/09/23/buffalo-sabres-2021-22-season-preview/ Itā€™s the lowest projection Luszcysczyn has calculated since heā€™s been doing this.
  17. Vogl with a thought-provoking opinion piece on why even though the Sabres are within their contractual rights, they are ethically wrong in denying a human being the choice over what to do with his body and his health. https://theathletic.com/2845419/2021/09/23/vogl-jack-eichel-should-be-allowed-to-live-the-life-he-wants-not-the-life-the-sabres-want-for-him/
  18. Agree wholeheartedly on the first. Disagree on the 2nd. As for the 3rd, I donā€™t think they are planning to finish last the way Tim Murray was, but they are expecting to be on the running and to have shot at a centre at least as good as Cozens in the process.
  19. The most common one cited is Kris Letang, who came out of it just fine. But there is another less high-profile guy (Derek Dorsett?) frequently pointed to as an example where it failed.
  20. This seems the most likely path, unless Brisson can sweet talk a GM into accepting disc replacement and paying the freight. Because Adams has failed at both, and at getting Jack to accept the situation ā€” although most here seem to think that is a success, not a failure.
  21. I think where i was going with this was "Understanding every situation exists on a spectrum, do you you want your GM to be as honest as he can be, or as protective as he can be?" A lot of fans say they want transparency, but the way they respond when they get it says otherwise.
  22. Is that what you think he should have said to best represent the Sabres, or the type of reply you want to hear as a fan, or both? Not a rhetorical question, I'm actually curious.
  23. The question was "Is Jack Eichel still the captain of this team?" How should he have answered it?
  24. I agree that element was ham-fisted. I also know that a team that cares as much as I do is what I want and what this team hasn't given me for a decade. I am glad my GM sees that and seems to make it a priority.
  25. Adams came across well again today as a leader. His constant preaching of earning it and giving the fans what they deserve resonates big time with me. Hopefully his staff can recognize and develop talent because I think he's doing the culture thing right.
