Do You Think The Sabres Top Brass Sees This As A “Tank” Season?

Practice lines now almost always reflect opening night. -
If Jack was actually a Sabre, this might upset me.

Do You Think The Sabres Top Brass Sees This As A “Tank” Season?
dudacek replied to bob_sauve28's topic in The Aud Club
The way training camping unfolded, it appeared Eakin was on the outside looking in and he worked his way into the NHL (if not starting) lineup. Not sure if that was actually the case. The 14 forwards on the roster are exactly the same as what one should have expected them to be after free agency. The same could be said about the defence. The only person to "make" the team was Dustin Tokarski over Dell. Peterka, Quinn, Samuelsson, Murray, UPL, Power and Johnson will all get NHL time before the season's over, but will mostly spend their season developing and "earning" their spots. You can call it whatever you like, but there is little doubt Adams willfully assembled an NHL team of underdogs who need to establish (or re-establish) an NHL identity and gave them an opportunity to do just that. I don't think he's a much set the team up to lose (although he knows full well it will), he's set them up to create an environment where they can get better. -
So the final roster and my best guess of the lines based on what we’ve seen in camp Skinner Mittelstadt Hinostroza Bjork Cozens Olofsson Asplund Thompson Ruotsalainen Caggiula Girgensons Okposo Hayden Eakin The Mitts line is pretty set I think, Donnie wants Girgs at centre and I think he’ll reunite Kyle with him. Tage looks like he’ll stay at centre for a while and I think Cozens/Oli will get a chance to happen.

Last day of the week is Sunday

Yes. They preferred Cody Eakin.

Pretty sure you are talking in big picture terms here. Looking at the pile of crap though, I thought he looked good there in the preseason and got better as the games progressed. From listening to Donnie, Id be surprised if he’s not at centre opening night.

I think they give it 24 hours. Should know at around 2 p.m. Eastern.

Not to belabour it, but it’s his job to call the game as it’s being played. It was a beat down in the other team’s house in a marquee matchup and he completely ignored that story as it was unfolding in front of him. How much time did he spend dwelling on big Allen plays? On bad Mahomes throws? I go back to the 4th down stop that I pointed out in real time: the Bills covered the most dangerous receiving corps in football for 8 seconds on a crucial game-turning sequence, and he chose to talk about the great play of the Chiefs O-line. You know, the line that got owned by an exclusively 4-man front over 60. And not the 2ndary that held the most dangerous quarterback in football to 272 yards on 54 attempts, and picked him off twice. Call the game that’s being played, not the one you invented in your head.

This is what I thought, but when I checked a few days ago CapFriendly had him as ineligible. Hope they are right and we’re wrong, but as you say moot now. Also, Casey Fitzgerald being here today is news no one expected.

Also let the record show the Bills have physically dominated.
-
Can Colinsworth talk about how badly Allen has outplayed Mahomes tonight, or would that draw a flag? The score is 38 to 20, in Arrowhead.
-
Let the record show with the game on the line, Josh Allen delivered
-
Josh doing Josh things.
-
Brutal hold, but that roughing call made up for it.
-
Roughing the passer?
-
Secondary covers for 8 seconds, turns ball over on downs. Collins worth compliments the Chiefs line. Yes! Take that you *****.

Washington reclaims Alex Jonsson-Fjallby Off Waiver

Bizarre all the way around. If another shoe fails to drop (he clears, we make another move that makes him redundant) I don't see the point in making a claim. Surely they weren't going to make a call on him based on the single exhibition game he missed? -
Weren't the rumours that Murray wanted Juolevi or Sergachev and Pegula wanted Chychrun but not Sergachev, so they ended up taking Nylander over McAvoy? What could have been...

I remember him dominating against Rochester

Updated Sabres Prospect Pool 2021 and beyond
dudacek replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
Not rankings per se, just players who have caught my eye as being better than where Sabrespace and/or outside consensus has them rated: Poltapov, Levi, Samuelsson, Power Players I worry might not be as good as their reputations: Cozens, Rosen, UPL, Portillo. Not sure where to put JJ in this list because I think expectations are changing; he’s been much more advanced than I expected, but I do worry he might follow a similar path to Cozens in terms of the growing hype exceeding his development pace. Are people now thinking he’s going to be Mike Gartner? Development is never straight and always interesting to watch. -
Somewhere @thewookie1 is pouring himself a glass of something fine.

I’d like to see someone run the numbers on 28-year-olds and 8-year contracts. Does any GM ever not regret them? Looking at the highest-paid players on capfriendly, maybe the Patrick Kane deal might qualify? Doughty, Karlsson, Bobrovsky, Skinner, Subban, Jamie Benn… all bad deals Toews, Kopitar, Tavares, are all still good, but not worth their deals. Pietrangelo Panarin TBD. Zibanejad is worth that, maybe more, right now. But it won’t age well.

Sabres Send Jack Quinn and Brett Murray to Rochester
dudacek replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
It almost seemed like the “A”s went to the most veteran guys. Pretty sure Pysyk also had one and Miller as well. Dont recall Skinner with one, so that would disprove my theory. -
Dreger: Eichel situation may be shifting, multiple teams involved

If he’s suspended he doesn’t count against the cap, right? If so they can’t suspend him; they’d be below the floor.
