  1. Bryson was apparently “back in the building” today but not expected to play tomorrow, according to Marty and Duffer on the radio today. They also said Samuelsson and Malone in the minors are not yet cleared to return. Once a a player has been released from COVID protocol he won’t be returned for a minimum of 90 days. Tokarski, Cozens, Skinner, Jankowski, Girgensons and Hinostroza have all cleared, although Tokarski isn’t officially cleared to play.
  2. Bryson went on Dec. 29 Fitzgerald and Okposo on Monday Tuch, Bjork and Krebs Yesterday Minimum of 5 day stay
  3. I would say Nylander is the antithesis of a Brian Burke type player. And that sarcasm on the internet is generally a bad idea.
  4. Brian Burke going after a Brian Burke type player.
  5. I'm leaning towards Nemec at this early date, but Cooley is his competition.
  6. Power and Samuelsson will join Bryson, Jokiharju and Dahlin on next year's team, leaving two jobs. One of those should go to a defensively responsible, preferably physical veteran RHD. I'm OK with Pysyk getting the other spot. Market value is about 1-year $1 million. I'd consider 2 years for less, or 1 year for slightly more
  7. Except with much better hands. Murray is good (in the AHL at least) at getting to and burying rebounds, and taking pass in tight and spitting the puck back out to a perimeter shooter.
  8. When I watched Murray in Rochester, his standout skill was net-front PP. I'd like to see him get more time in that role in Buffalo.
  9. But says he still has to convince Brett of that fact. Still very much enjoying Donnie’s media sessions. Positive, straightforward and informative.
  10. Personally, I love the concept of 9 top 6 forwards and 2 #1 D. Basically, it allows you to spend 50 minutes a game doing more than holding on. The only issue is there remain questions about the 4 top 6ths we have (Skinner, Tuch, VO and Tage) while Cozens Krebs Peterka Quinn Mittelstadt Power and Dahlin still have to prove they can join the party.
  11. Speed is like size. It matters, but only if it is regularly utilized to play hockey better. Peterka uses his well at the AHL level.
  12. Considering Cossa was Canada’s #3 in this year’s WJC and Levi set records as the #1 at last year’s and has only gotten better, I would be surprised if Cossa was ahead of Levi in the pecking order. Im not counting on there being an Olympics and if I’m Northeastern there is no way I can afford to lose Levi for a few weeks. That said, I’d love to see him and Power go, win gold, and sign here immediately after, just like Ramsey and McClanahan.
  13. One of the more strange acquisitions of the Bowman era. Scotty apparently denigrated and rode him as an opposing coach, then paid a premium to acquire him, only to denigrate and ride him again as his own coach.
  14. Agree with you on the Lazar hype. i was among those buying in. He's a pretty good example of how the WJC and being drafted by a Canadian team can tend to inflate the stock of some players. If nothing was different about Peyton Krebs except he had been a Canucks or a Flames picks, there would have been a lot more excitement in the hockey world about him coming over in the Eichel trade.
  15. Krebs must be crushed. Kid says the right things, but it’s clear he is competitive as hell and impatient to be an NHLer. They’ve clearly emphasized patience and staying in the moment to him. The Boston game must have felt like he was finally going to make that step. And now this.
  16. Further to the above @Thorny, you've been focused on a centre as a potential weakness since they don't have a Jack Eichel. The Sabres appear to think centre is a potential strength since they may have multiple Ryan O'Reillys.
  17. I'd have to revisit it to get the quote, but Donnie touched on the Sabres centre situation in his presser yesterday. Basically said something like "look at the first lines of the teams we play and their centres and how long they've been together and with the franchise and in the system" and implied that any of the four young Sabres centres can get there with time. Around 12 1/2 minutes in here: https://www.nhl.com/sabres/video/don-granato-1322/t-277437090/c-10089961
  18. His overall game hasn't vanished, just the best part of it.
  19. Allow me to rephrase: is it ridiculous to project Quinn as a decade-long 35-goal 1st-line winger?
  20. Is it ridiculous to project Quinn -> Vanek in terms of role and status? That's my hope for his upside.
  21. What role do you see Murray filling? Ive talked around it in this thread, that I don’t know how to project him, and I wonder what others see him turning into.
  22. I think production was the other one. Totally remember that article and also lived and died with THN back then.
