Is Gerbe wearing Lightning McQueen sunglasses...?
-
Yes, exactly, I think there had to have been some outside pressure to keep the team at least close to the black. Remember, reduced revenue for 1 team means reduced total HRR and thus reduced Revenue for all owners and players. He would piss a lot of people off running the Sabres revenue into the ground. I think raising the prices to qualify for revenue sharing is just the point at which that pressure backs off. I'd still just like to hear something about why the prices went up. They are cheap tickets, but they are not the cheapest in the league.

That's absolutely fine motivation, and i think it's a good course of action, I'd just like to hear that from Pegula since it goes directly against the previous comment.
-
I agree with you here. I'd like to at least see an explanation from the Front Office. Is there some other benefit that comes along with revenue sharing? What was the motivation?

Don't forget the first ever international super-hit (January 1896): L'Arrivée d'un train en gare de La Ciotat
-
Historically the fight over revenue sharing has been on the other side of the spectrum. Teams receiving share and not spending enough of it.
-
This would put a lower cap on the small market teams than the large, which would go against the spirit of the cap itself.
-
Completely agree with this assessment. Vanek and Miller are priced like Ferraris and have played like a Lexuses. Leino is priced like a Lexus, and plays like a Kia. They need to do better with their money.

You've got to figure that most of the teams with $20+M in cap space are not going to the cap. Also, several of those teams need to sign 5 or more players. Teams likely constrained by internal Budget (in no particular order): 1. Colorado 2. Nashville 3. Arizona 4. St. Louis 5. Winnipeg 6. Ottawa 7. NY Islanders 8. Florida 9. New Jersey 10. Edmonton 11. Dallas 12 Minnesota 13. Tampa 14. Carolina 15. Columbus Teams not constrained by cap, but with 5+ players needed to fill roster: 16. San Jose 17. NY Rangers 18. Anaheim 19. Montreal 20. Calgary 21. Vancouver 22. Washington 23. Toronto Teams in similar cap situation to Buffalo: 24. Pittsburgh 25. Chicago 26. Philadelphia 27. Boston 28. Los Angeles Which leaves only Detroit as a significant cap/spend FA threat, they're pretty much going to get the first pick (maybe picks) on July 1st, but after that, the Sabres should be able to compete with anyone else offer wise.

The Skip-A-Day Deoderant?

They have a pretty good plan for massively improving the blue line. They're sending Pommer to Korea for genetic manipulation. The theory is they're going to identify the gene(s) that make him bullet injury-Proof and inject them directly into the DNA strands of all the defensemen. It's a risky procedure with one major potential side effect, however, so they're going to have Rip upgraded the strength and durability of everyone's sticks just in case.

Vegas and Reno don't count. It's everywhere else in the state that it's legal. I just don't want D4rk to get himself arrested.

Quick Math: Cap (Player Share Negotiated in new CBA) Sabres Cap Space (Sabres Cap Space Assuming a Roll Back = to Player % reduction) $70.3M (57%) $11.8M ($11.8M) $69.0M (56%) $10.6M ($11.6M) $67.8M (55%) $_9.3M ($11.4M) $66.6M (54%) $_8.1M ($11.2M) $65.4M (53%) $_6.9M ($11.0M) $64.1M (52%) $_5.6M ($10.8M) $62.9M (51%) $_4.4M ($10.5M) $61.6M (50%) $_3.2M ($10.4M) My guess is a drop to 54% player share and maybe a partial existing contract roll back, which would land the cap at $66.6M and leave the Sabres between $8M-$11M in cap space.
