Look at it this way: Do you expect Nash to score MORE than he has on a good team? Will he improve by more than 5 goals a year? if so, you've got a potential 40 goal scorer or more. That will put him in the top 5 of goal scorers any year. 3-4 Good players/picks, might be worth it to get one great guy in the top 5 of scoring. Or, conversely, will he be like Kovy and see his production go DOWN when he is not the sole goal scorer on the team? in that case, he might not be worth the cost.

Anaheim needs something to build around going forward. They'll give Getzlaf whatever he wants, but once they move Ryan, they will have zero forwards signed past June 30, 2014. That is a huge potential problem for them. Nash will be extremely good if not great, and at least that's something to build around.

I'll keep the first rounder and add Sekera if it gets the deal done. I don't buy that anyone offered the world to CBJ for Nash. The guy is still owed most of the money on his Goliath back-loaded contract. He is a 35 goal scorer with "withering on a terrible team" issues. I think the "I haven't seen the right deal" comments out of Howson are less him wanting the world for Nash and more the other 29 GMs not wanting to sign up for the fifth highest cap hit player who might top out at #12 in the league for goals.
