As much as I want the republican party to crash and burn, I'd rather they do it by being wrong on social issues than by being wrong on economic/fiscal issues. Pass the tax cuts for the first $250k as a stand alone bill. This is a tax break for all tax payers. even the rich ones get the benefit of the lower bracket cuts. In fact, they get the most benefit individually because they max out those brackets. By not doing that, the ONLY message they can possibly be sending is that the tax cuts on money after you earn your first quarter million are too important, and everyone will have to hurt if the top has to hurt. It's suicide. It will destroy the Republican party, but it will really harm spending in the first quarter, and I don't want to see that.

I want to suck until there is an elite QB. I'm not opposed to taking a risk with an early 2nd rounder. I'm not even opposed to risking the first rounder. I just want to be able to continue to watch Manti be awesome while playing for my team.

I contend that the QB must be a top 20 NFL guy if he's going to make a difference at all. I also contend that that guy does not exist in this draft. Barkley is an injury prone 20-30 guy at best. Geno has proven he can destroy a bad defense, but can't make the right decision against even moderately capable DBs. Get the best player at a position of need (Te'o) and lose at least 12 games next year (and every year until the QB comes our way). Be prepared to trade the entire draft to move up any year that a top 20 QB is available.

So, i've been listening to Rush and Hannity(sp?) during my commutes this week (totally schadenfreude). Today Rush was discussing the Democrats garnering such a huge percentage of single women. His reason: they're insecure and want big government to be there to provide that missing security. His solution: "We may need to ask the men of America to marry these women, give them a couple kids and the security of the nuclear blanket. We may need to ask the men to marry these women to save the country." This is the conservative who has the largest audience in the country. I think the democratic coalition is safe for the foreseeable future.
