I'd just like to say that I'd like to double down on my previous statement and would like to request napalm at the Super Bowl parade. Watched about 4 minutes total of the game and saw the 3 straight defensive holding penalties and my blood was already boiling. Friends and family were texting me and I knew they were celebrating too early. I feel like Trump. The system feels rigged. Now I'm kind of hoping the Bills ditch Taylor just so I have my excuse to ditch football for good. -
I think he gets more right than wrong, and I thought so even back when I used to vote Republican. I can see how his delivery can rub people the wrong way though. Definitely not for everyone.
-
Bill Maher's ending segment on his show last night was awesome. He ripped Kraft, Brady, and Belichick for supporting Trump, being cheaters, and all around crummy individuals in general.
-
If that's the case so be it. I'd rather see him walk than sign him to an albatross type contract like Moulson.
-
Trade him at the deadline and re-sign him to a 1 or 2 year deal in the offseason.
-
I'd consider us lucky if we can shitcan DB by mid point of next season. I've got a bad feeling he'll get even longer than that as long as the team hasn't totally checked out on him. Unfortunately that means we've completely wasted the ELC's of both Eichel and Reinhart but that's what happens when you hire a resume. He claims to have studied the game and where it's evolving on his year off but seems to coach like it's still dead puck era.
-
It being Murray's fault is honestly the best case scenario. Worst case is Murray doesn't want DB but Terry and Company are making the decision and want to keep him because of his Pittsburgh fetish and the fact that he's won a cup. In that case we're stuck with him until Terry is ready to change and he may not want to do that after all of the previous firings for the Bills and Sabres.

I'd root for ISIS over Boston. The only time rooting for anything Boston is acceptable is rooting for them to die in a fire or be stricten with AIDS. -
Had a former work buddy that successfully quit using it. He said it gave him the craziest dreams ever. I never go to the doctor though (despite having insurance) so I've never bothered to get a prescription for it. If the e-cigarettes don't work though, that'll probably be the next thing I try.
-
Thanks. My Dad smoked for over 30 years and it took him spending several days in the cancer ward of a hospital (only bed available) after having his gallbladder removed for him to finally quit. The real test will be those first couple of times drinking without smoking. If I can get through that, I'll be golden.

I'm not too worried. With all the chemicals they put in actual cigarettes they have to be at least moderately better, so I'll roll the dice and take my chances. At least they put the ingredients on the cartridge packs. They never did that for real cigarettes. I've tried to quit several times over the years and was unsuccessful. This will be the first time I've tried to quit smoking since all the vaping crap has been around so I'm hoping using those as a crutch when I adjust to no longer smoking will help me out and keep me on the path to quitting without ripping the heads off of co-workers and random people I interact with.

Thanks. E-cigarettes definitely take the edge off when I'm craving a real cigarette but they're definitely not the same and I still want a real cigarette the entire time I'm using the electronic one. The base I work on regulates them the same as tobacco so I have to go outside to use it at least 50 feet from any entry/exit to any building which is fine. My e-cigarette looks like a cigarette though and expels a similar amount of vapor that a cigarette would expel in smoke. I've met people that use those various contraptions that make people spew vapor like a some wannabe dragon or some such nonsense and I can see why people would find it obnoxious because I find obnoxious even though I still smoke both real and electronic cigarettes.

I used to drink a 12 pack or more of beer every day as well. Beer and cigarettes go extremely well together. Once I cut back on drinking I went down to a carton a week which is still just a shade under 1.5 packs a day (28 or 29 depending on how you round it). Basically all kinds of event sparked me to light one up. Getting in my car, getting a phone call (outside of work), after meals, after sex, cracking a beer, etc.

Same here, although I'm just a part timer right now. April will make 20 years I've been a full time smoker and starting this January I've been cutting back on my full flavor Pall Malls and supplementing my habit with the full flavor version of those Mark Ten XL e-cigarettes. So far it's working but I'm still in the early stages. I used to smoke 2 packs a day, then got down to 1 carton a week. Then I had a carton last me 11.5 days and the following one lasted me an even 12 days so I'm under a pack a day now. I'm currently on day 13 of my current carton with about half a pack left and the next goal is to make my next carton last at least 15 days then see if I can make the one after that last even longer. The end goal is to switch to the e-cigarettes full time by April and eventually kick that habit as well. We'll see how it goes.

All I know is I basically read every post on here with the exception of a few threads (Star Wars, Whiskey, etc.) that I just mark as read after reading all the others. Usually that takes a good while, especially when I go a few days without logging in. It hardly takes me any time now and no political discussion is a big reason why. There's a reason that was the biggest thread by far despite others being years older. I find myself having to go to other boards (HFboards and the official BBMB mostly) just to read new content. The problem is those boards are no where near as good as this board, especially when this board had a politics thread.
-
This place needs a coroner to announce it DOA. Blocking the discussion of politics right after the most polarizing person in decades (or even longer) enters the White House sure looks like a bad decision. But hey, at least we're all happy go lucky now, right?

I really doubt Murray even has that kind of authority. Personally I doubt it due to the flat management structure and the corporate culture that nobody has a monopoly on intelligence or whatever drivel has been said by Pegula and company in the past. I don't think there's any way in hell Murray can just shitcan the guy without Terry and Co. giving their blessing, signing off on it, or whatever vernacular you want to use.

Fixing the 4th line - could it help fix the Sabres?
Drunkard replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
Exactly. Upgrading at any position should help to upgrade that position down through the entire lineup. Getting a shiny new stud LW for the top line would allow us to move the current top LW (whoever the hell that is at the moment) down to the 2nd line, 2nd to 3rd, and so forth. Obviously there's only so much cap space though so it's not feasible to only upgrade from the top down. The key is finding value when it becomes available whether it's a top line winger, 3rd line center, or 4th line grinder. I definitely wouldn't focus only on the 4th line though. -
I like the Sabres, but I don't know if I "like" like the Sabres. Oh and bring back the Politics thread. This place is no where near as fun to read or post on without it.

Probably so. My bad. All the posts are starting to blend together.

Once the trade deadline passes he can't be re-signed until the offseason I believe. If Murray thinks he can re-sign him the smart move (assuming we're out of the playoff race at that point) is to trade him for more assets and re-sign him without having to protect him from Vegas.
-
If they have a good chance to make the playoffs I want them to be buyers and fight like hell to make it. If it looks like there's too many points to make up I have zero interest in seeing a heroic run to 9th or 10th. Momentum doesn't carry over from season to season and it's stupid to let UFA's walk for nothing. I have zero interest in moral victories once the team is out of the playoff race. On a side note, I didn't realize the season didn't end until 6 weeks after the trade deadline. I still think we should be sellers when it comes to pending UFAs if there's too much ground to make up though. Once the trade deadline passes he can't be re-signed until the offseason I believe. If Murray thinks he can re-sign him the smart move (assuming we're out of the playoff race at that point) is to trade him for more assets and re-sign him without having to protect him from Vegas.

It's a couple of weeks at the end of an already lost season. You're logic is flawed as hell because there's always a balance between the present and the future. Using your logic the kids are so fragile we should gut every prospect in our system who isn't currently helping the Sabres and go all in on winning right now. Gotta instill that desire to win right? Even with 3 weeks left in the season where it's already clear they won't make the playoffs. They won't do that because it would ve stupid to, just like it's stupid to let UFA's walk for nothing when you're out of the playoff hunt when you could get something for them at the deadline. It was a hockey trade in the offseason not at the trade deadline when he's a few weeks away from having the ability to walk with no compensation. That's the difference.
