That's what I'm hoping for. Let him keep his nose clean all summer and sign him in late September/early October. I'd love any deal that comes in at or under $6 million per for 6 years and for them to front load it as much as allowed by the CBA so if we need to move it in the future it will increase interest from internal cap teams.
-
The problem with this is his value has the potential to plummet if they can't work out a deal though. The value of wingers relative to other positions is in the toilet so the best we'd probably be looking at for Kane would be a late first and a prospect by the trade deadline next year, although we'll (hopefully) be in the thick of the playoff hunt as well so we'd probably hold onto him for the push and then possibly lose him for nothing to a team like Vegas who will have tons of cap space to throw at him.

They're fine when we aren't pathetic at them. We should sign Ryan Miller and make him our default shootout goalie next season. Maybe he could tutor Lehner on how to stop falling for every deke the shooter makes as well. At this point he couldn't do any worse if he faced the net while trying to stop shots or just flopped around randomly like a fish out of water. Hell maybe he could learn to breakdance and spin around on his ass or on his head. Maybe he could just attempt an extreme version of a poke check where he skates directly toward center ice with his crazy madman eyes and just tries to swipe the puck. Maybe he should take off his helmet and make death threats to the shooters families. Any one of these random methods has got to stop at least one attempt out of 8 or 10 or whatever he's batting 0 for at this point.

Yep. I'd add in using irrelevant metrics in the hiring process. It would be great if we'd hire football people based on their football qualifications and hockey people based on their hockey qualifications rather than letting what type of wine you drink, spiritual beliefs, and success in unrelated sports factor in.

In that scenario they need to cut from other areas of the roster (like Gilmore). QB is way too important of a position to skimp on. This team is infinitely better off with Taylor and no Gilmore than it would be without Taylor and having Gilmore.

These next 7 games will tell us a lot about this team/coach

You should offer him a Coney Hotdog (not Cy Hdgsn, an actual jpg of a hotdog from Coney Island). Rolston seems to have the same look of "special" about him that Rick Perry does. -
I've heard it's bad but I doubt it's that bad.

They'll just win the lottery again and get Nolan Patrick.

GM Tim Murray - Time for a serious conversation

I have no idea but I'm clinging to hope that it means TM is ready to show DB the door and now he just has to get Pegula on board. -

Already pining for the year Ennis and Moulson are officially off the books, huh? At that point Bogosian will be on his final year as well.

I had high hopes for Kulikov and I would like to re-sign him to a 1 or 2 year prove it type deal. I just thought Dudacek was laying it on way too thick.

You sound like a parent making excuses for his kid. You realize you are talking about a 26 year old millionaire who has been in the league for 7+ years and not some 10 year old that has been sent away to fat camp and is away from his parents for the first time ever in his life, right? I bet he would give it all back for a hug and a pat on the head while telling him that he's loved and appreciated though. IT'S GONNA BE OK, DIMITRI! WE LOVE AND APPRECIATE YOU!

You don't need it anymore. I have it on good authority that a certain orange President is going to eliminate a certain health insurance mandate while also not allowing insurance companies to reject people for pre-existing conditions. This means you can save your money from those expensive premiums and then wait until you get sick or injured to sign up for insurance. Once you're all better/healed you can then just drop your insurance. BC/BS, Humana, Aetna, and whatever one the Peanuts gang does ads for (Metlife?) will just love that. It's gonna be huuuuuuuuge!

That's what happens when threads get closed right in the middle of a discussion. -

Thanks for the insight. That's crazy that even they stink now. He acquired them the same time as the Sabres though and they made the finals last year so I guess it wasn't an instant flop. Were they some type of juggernaut in 2011 that simply took 5 years to fall apart? I was half joking at first but maybe he really is cursed.

For some reason a thread got closed about the trade deadline and I had a post already typed up that I was curious about so I have to create a thread rather than google the answer for myself (screw that, I already typed this up). To quote Rob Ray: No, you're right. I agree with you though. He's not nefarious or anything but he really seems to have adopted the losing culture of Buffalo sports rather than reversing it so far. Sabres, Bills, and Amerks all floundering. Are the Bandits any good or did they fall off the performance cliff as well? I've never followed Lacrosse but I remember reading that they won multiple titles back when they had John Tavares' uncle or whomever. I don't know if the Bandits are better or worse since Pegula has owned them though.

Deadline Nearly Here! What is GMTM going to do?
Drunkard replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
Most owners make the majority of their money from the team's appreciation in value over time (sell price - purchase price) rather than year to year profits though. I agree that he's likely operating in the red but with tv and merchandise deals in set contracts, a waiting list for STH's, and several years where they were closer to the cap floor than the ceiling I don't think he's hemorrhaging money. -

Drunkard replied to Scottysabres's topic in The Aud Club
Yep. Better to tow the company line and swallow the bs from this organization whole. Can't wait to see how much ticket prices go up this year. Until that waiting list disappears they'll be willing to accept mediocrity with the great DB leading the charge. -
They didn't want to send the message that they've packed it in for the season (even though they have). I for one, have complete faith in Kulikov, Franson, Gionta, and Nilsson to keep this sinking ship afloat even though they've been here all season and we still suck. Cutting them loose to better evaluate their depth while receiving draft picks sends a bad message to the suckers who buy tickets.... I mean the loyal fans who they're trying to win for. Sounds like hockey heaven to me.

I've never really watched him, I just know he's kind of like COR or Keith Gretzky. Is he worse than who the Sabres are icing? Could he have been sent down to Rochester? -

Who cares if it smacks of giving up? This season is toast. Anyone who doesn't realize it is an idiot, whether it's a fan, player, or coach. Sometimes cashing out is the best move. -
All of the credit now and none of the blame when it drops. [Maybe if we say positive things toward the GOP they'll unban political discussion]
