Seems logical. I'm sick of DB. I've watched maybe 10 or so games this season and half of those I didn't even watch in their entirety. If he's back again next season I'll watch fewer games than TM utters word announcing our next high draft pick.

I'm right there with you. Room for one more? This sure as hell isn't the hockey heaven I signed on for.

Did DB really re-write his system though? The complaints we have about him (too many stretch passes, not enough puck support, too much dump/chip and chase, weak forecheck) are the same complaints that Pittsburgh fans had about him when he was fired. I think he sold Pegula a made up narrative about updating his system and studying the game in his year off and Pegula bought it hook line and sinker because of his Pittsburgh fetish and the shiny Stanley Cup ring DB likely wore to the interview. Wouldn't surprise me if Russ Brandon told him to bring a bottle of red wine with him either the same way he did to Rex, but that's just speculation on my part.

Movies / TV Shows - I Have Watched / Plan To Watch
Drunkard replied to Sabres Fan in NS's topic in The Aud Club
You need to inject some horror into your favorite movie diet. Start with the Evil Dead Trilogy and add Devil's Rejects, Feast, Eden Lake, Funny Games, P2, The Hitcher, 30 Days of Night, Kalifornia, the Midnight Meat Train, the Mist, Natural Born Killers, Pathology, I Spit on Your Grave (remake), and the Signal to your watch list and even though they aren't horror movies add in Law Abiding Citizen, Kill the Irishman, and Death Sentence just for good measure. -
Bump to get this back on the first page since I alluded to it in another thread.

How to Fix the D Both Short and Long-term?
Drunkard replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
Check out the posts by Flagg in the System thread. It's complete with examples and photos with arrows and MS paint scribbles. It shows a bunch of examples of how the stretch passes and lack of forward support are killing our puck possession numbers. -
Lost Point Countdown: -15 Final: 78 (Mathmatically Eliminated)

I'm more curious to see whether we beat the 81 points we got last year. I think it'll be close. -
I don't know enough about coaching styles to provide a name, I just want a coach that focuses on short passes to maintain possession rather than stretch passes and dump ins. I also prefer coaches that employ an aggressive forecheck. There is almost no point to forechecking with only one guy. If you aren't going to forecheck with at least 2 guys you might as well clog the neutral zone and play the boring trap defense that Jersey made famous. We need a coach that tailors his system to match the skills in his lineup rather than forcing his players to adapt to some rigid system that doesn't change regardless of who is taking the ice. I'm sure any of the coaches listed would be an upgrade over DB though.

Expansion Draft -- Sabres moves and speculation
Drunkard replied to SabresBaltimore's topic in The Aud Club
If he took either of those guys (or Gorges) in the expansion draft this place will go nuts. Sign me up. -
Wasn't this what he was supposed to be doing during his year long studying of the game and creating an innovative approach or whatever he called it? I have no faith in DB to do this because it feels like all the complaints about DB are the exact ones that Pittsburgh fans were complaining about for years. Eerily similar. I believe if I went on HF boards and dug up their complaints and substituted O'Reilly's name for Crosby, Eichel's name for Malkin, and Lehner's name for Fleury, and our defensemen's names in for their guys, most of us wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

You must not watch the Walking Dead then. They that show into every commercial break. -
Thanks. I don't see the upside for Nintendo. Sure they'd sell more games but they'd sell way less consoles that way too and last time I checked the consoles are at least 5 or 6 times more expensive than the games and once you shell out the cash for a console you're kind of forced to buy/rent more games for it so it guarantees them extra sales in the future. Do other game makers do this though? I know EA sports makes games for various consoles but does say Sony own the exclusive rights to some game franchise (say something like Tekken, Zelda, Mortal Kombat, or Final Fantasy) that they lease the rights on to the competition (Xbox, Nintendo, Sega, etc.)?

I'm way behind the times with respect to the video game market (I have a "new" throwback Atari system, an Original NES, and a Sega Genesis) but do any of the gaming systems do this? Do xbox games work in a playstation or vice versa? Maybe what you're asking for is different than what I am thinking of though. Do you want an open system that plays knock off Nintendo games or do you want a single console that plays all the Nintendo stuff (NES, SuperNES, N64, GameCube, Wii, Switch, etc)?

I'm not belittling religion, at least not in this thread, I have a religion thread for that. I just want the hockey coach to be hired based on his hockey resume and the football coach to be hired based on his football resume. If Terry Pegula is taking people's religious beliefs into account for the hiring process that's just plain stupid, just like it's stupid that he seems to have allowed the Bills coach's wrestling background and religious beliefs to factor into the hiring metrics. I have no real feelings on wrestling whatsoever but I still think it's dumb to factor in McDermott's past wrestling background into his decision making process or the fact that Russ Brandon stacked the deck in favor of Rex Ryan by telling him to bring a bottle of red wine to his interview just so it would make his job of marketing the team easier. The actual religious part isn't where my problem lies. It's in using irrelevant factors into his hiring metrics.
-
I'd need more information to vote either way. I've been speculating for a while now that DB was actually Pegula's pick so I would find it difficult to be ok with firing TM if that's the case. From my understanding the system in Rochester is designed to mimic the system in Buffalo as well so if Pegula did make the decision to hire DB then it's tough to pin Rochester's trouble on Murray either. So for now, I'd vote to keep him based on my assumption. Either way, I hope DB gets canned and TM gets to pick the next coach so TM can sink or swim based on the next hire. Unfortunately the only way to be sure the next coach is actually TM's would be for the coach to be a Satanist, Pagan, or Atheist with nothing impressive on his resume except hockey related things.

Lost Point Countdown: -15 Final: 78 (Mathmatically Eliminated)
Drunkard replied to MattPie's topic in The Aud Club
I hope not, but I could definitely see it happening. I don't really have time to follow and analyze the draft but just googling NHL mock draft it seems like players are all over the place. Lilgegren is slated to go anywhere from 2nd to 24th and Valimaki is slated to go anywhere from 5th to 18th. Give me either of these guys (assuming we don't win the lottery) and I'll be happy. -

Yep. We got leapfrogged by Carolina sometime in the past week and we got passed by Winnipeg last night. Dallas could pass us tonight if they can beat Calgary and we lose to Anaheim. It's possible for us to finish as low as 29th although not likely. We'd need another back to back against Jersey, plus Arizona would have to continue gaining ground on us. -
I was never a Vesey fan but I will admit to talking him up just to annoy PI and see the funny gifs he'd post of Jim Carey dry heaving, especially after he signed with the Rangers.
-
I like it in theory, but it needs some tweaking to something like FIRE DAN. Otherwise you run the risk of CAN DAN starting to sound like DAN CAN and we all know he can't. You don't want to let him think he has any fans left. He sucks and he should know it. See, you can't let him even have the illusion of support. Crush his spirit and maybe the fans can effectively grind him down like a little bitch. Maybe he'll even quit (wishful thinking).

Slayer with some other bands in Raleigh on July 20th. Should be some friendly violent fun.
-
Not sure if he'll be ready or not but he's about to officially age out of juniors. He turns 20 this summer and will be eligibile to go to Rochester if he doesn't make the Sabres.
-
We should put him on waivers near the end of the season and see if some playoff team grabs him for emergency depth. They likely wouldn't because of his contract extending into next season but it's worth a shot.
-
I agree, although it's pretty easy to avoid, unless you work with a bunch of people who won't shut up about it. I didn't even know it was going on except for seeing the thread on here.

If firing DB had been listed as the first option, I wouldn't have read the other choices. As it is I didn't even read option D.

How Long Do Successful Rebuilds Take Anyway?
Drunkard replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
Then we need Pu to hurry up and make the team so he can tutor these guys. Someone of Chinese descent may be our only hope of understanding his convoluted system.
