  1. Winning the lottery would be awesome. Who cares if it's not a highly regarded draft, it would still give us the chance to draft whomever Murray determines is the best player. Patrick, Hischier, and Lilgegren are all quality players and winning the lottery would ensure we get one of them. We could keep the player or trade him for a young stud defenseman.
  2. Or it just means it's not his call and Terry still wants DB to remain coach because of his Stanley Cup ring and his Pittsburgh connection.
  3. Yuck. The kid should get to pick but if you are going to choose for him, go with McCabe. He's on a deal of a contract and I'm sure Murray will lock him up long term for his next one. Plus he's American.
  4. I definitely hate Boston more but I'll always have ample hate in my heart for all things Miami and Dallas as well.
  5. I need my fix! Just a taste. 4 more to go.
  6. Gotcha. I feel the same way when the Dolphins play the Patriots*. I root for the blimp to crash into the stadium and for the air to catch on fire and obliterate everyone. It hasn't happened yet but I think I just haven't prayed hard enough. Time to move on to animal sacrifice I guess. Wear your hate proudly.
  7. I heard his agent called Murray and when he tried to discuss parameters for a new contract Murray laughed and then said he was about to drive through a tunnel, even though they both knew he was using a land line.
  8. I understand hating the Yankees but that would mean rooting for Boston to win like a dozen or so games and that's just not possible. Boston should lose every game in every sport forever until they are wiped off the face of the earth.
  9. GoDD can never be wrong. It's in the Bible, I think the front.
  10. Something something injuries. With Eichel playing 82 games next year we'll probably be able to bump that up to 87 points. Progress. DB for life.
  11. Still kind of messed up to say right before playing that team. That would irritate me way more than someone showing up late to a stretching session. They should make him dress for the game and make him suck his thumb while wearing a dunce cap or one of those propeller ones with a Leafs logo on in. And I say this as someone who didn't really care about Reinhart's benching even though I may have personally handled it differently.
  12. I think it's because they don't want Pi to ridicule them for their crappy +/- stats.
  13. Chicago tends to be that way. Their contracts are so top heavy that their usually have to fill out the bottom of their lineup with ELCs and bargain bin vets. I imagine its the same for any teams that have a few guys signed to big money deals.
  14. To be fair, it probably has a lot to do with his hero worship of Matt Moulson. The guy is so slow he has to leave early for everything or he'd be perpetually late.
  15. That was just the cover story. I heard they named him BJ because they didn't want him and that's what they think he should've been instead.
  16. Yes, that was the British word I used.
  17. Overly optimistic can be just as annoying as the overly pessimistic. Every team thinks they are only a few pieces away. Time stands still for nobody so by the time we lose all the aging vets like Gionta, Moulson, and Gorges then Okposo will be in his 30's and O'Reilly will be nearly there. What happens if their production falls off a cliff? We think and hope they'll just plateau and then age like wine vs milk but we thought the same thing about Moulson, especially given that his production was never predicated on speed to begin with.
  18. No clue since I don't follow Lacrosse but I started a thread about this a few weeks or months ago and somebody familiar with the team said they've been in the toilet lately too. Maybe Terry just started to meddle before it happened, ha ha! Disclaimer: Personally, I doubt they do much with them. No offense to the fans but the Bandits are small potatoes compared to the Sabres, just like the Sabres are small potatoes compared to the Bills. I doubt they are on the Pegula's radar much at all. Especially since they don't have their own arena that would need funding or renovations.
  19. I'm 35 but we used to use it as a slang for ######. Like, sorry I couldn't get to the phone, I was busy whacking my pud. Ha ha! The banned word if I was British would be ###### or to steal from George Carlin I'll say waxing the carrot. I used the medical term. Surprised that's a banned word. Man, even the British word is banned. This is crazy.
  20. Sounds like a horse. I bet DB will pair him with Ristolainen and make them both play 30+ minutes together. Maybe we'll fix our D issues by just playing our top 4, until they collapse from exhaustion or something. The other 2 guys can do their best Reinhart impressions and sit and watch the game without playing.
  21. My Complaint: DB is still the coach. He sucks.
  22. The evidence doesn't seem to support you. Before the sale of the team was even finalized it was reported that Pegula submitted a list of players to Regier through Golisano that were on his don't touch list since the trade deadline was approaching. Then there was the tweet from the Pegula daughter where she let it slip that her Dad was really high on Ehrhoff so I doubt it's a coincidence that we signed him to a 10 year deal that summer. I remember Darcy explicitly stating that the extent of the rebuild would also be determined by ownership which you can logically assume means that Pegula was picking and choosing which members of the old core should be jettisoned. I remember hearing rumors about them making Vanek the highest paid player in the NHL before he must have told them he wanted to pursue free agency and was traded to the Islanders. Imagine how f'd we'd be right now if we were stuck paying that guy $9 million a year for close to a decade. Pegula is definitely a hands on owner. I hope he learns over time to hire experts and trust them to get the job done.
  23. We have no connection to Pittsburgh so Terry won't hire us.
  24. I'd take Iginla on a 1 year deal if he takes a further pay cut from the $2.75 million he earned this season. He's only on pace for something like 28 points over a full season so expect that to decline further. The good thing about signing him would mean DB is gone since he was the guy who said DB's system is the most complicated he's ever played in. No chance he'd sign here if DB remains coach.
  25. Yep. Not to mention Pegula introducing the new coach. That's when he talked about the new guy being a man of faith and how impressive Terry found that and his wrestling background to be. That's why I don't understand the fire Whaley crowd. What decisions can you really place on him if he doesn't pick the coach or decide what players to draft? About the only thing he seems to be responsible for are trades and he's done pretty well on that front (trading up for Watkins seems to be a mistake but trading for McCoy has paid off in spades and so was trading for Hughes). I doubt he negotiates contracts since we have some Ralph era holdover lawyer guy who does that. Whaley seems to be a yes man and it's not like the Pegulas are going to hire a replacement that will tell them to back off, so what's the point of firing Whaley just to replace him with another figure head GM who gets all the most important decisions made for him anyway?
