  1. Black, Benson, Whaley, and DB. Botterill would make another. I hope we pass on him.
  2. I need to know his religious affiliations before I can get behind him.
  3. I stand corrected. NS much be looking for a job in their PR department then.
  4. It is. Defenseman is what we use in the United States. Those moose loving, maple syrup chuggers use the c. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defenceman
  5. Man, talk about alternative facts. You sound like a Pittsburgh fan, although to be fair to them, I bet most of their fans admit it was a tank.
  6. They should definitely stay at #6. Vegas is going to be chock full of mediocre talent with a few decent players. They need to hit on their top picks for the next couple seasons along with a quality free agent or two just to ice a competitive team. Trading down for even bigger gambles in a weak draft would be stupid.
  7. He may not be, especially given his impressive wrestling credentials, but Pegula is sure treating him like one. He basically ran the draft and will get to approve the coach. If they knew they were gonna fire DW they should have did it after the season, hired a new GM, and let him have a say in choosing the coach.
  8. I agree, once he's proven that. At this point he's proven less as an NFL head coach than Eichel had as an NHL player though, yet people seem ok with our prima donna coach who gets to rubber stamp his own boss. I haven't been so down on the Bills since the year they sent Flutie packing and he and Christie ended up on the Chargers. The Sabres shouldn't have trouble because I assume one of the questions in the interview will be to go over who that person has in mind to bri g in as potential head coaching candidates. If they pulled the same bass ackwards the Bills are doing though, I imagine the field would diminish significantly.
  9. Despite your dislike for DW do you see a reputable GM coming here with the knowledge that his hire will need to be approved by his own subordinate first? We're going to be limited to candidates who are on board with that. I'm sorry but what the hell has McD accomplished to get Belichick level treatment?
  10. It basically ensures a puppet GM. The best case scenario is basically that the link from Swamp at the top of this page is true and we're stealing the AGM of Carolina. No real GM worth his salt is going to join an organization where his subordinate (the coach) has more power than he does. I've never heard of 12up though so I have no idea if that site in reputable.
  11. Exactly. Plus I'm pretty sure ROR was acquired specifically with the intent of bringing him in to do the heavy lifting at center so Eichel and Reinhart could be eased into the league without them having to start off drawing the top competition. Without those blue chippers to protect we may not have even gone after him.
  12. Maybe Pegula's value system is red wine > Jesus > other. Or maybe Rex played the game and used those Bible quotes that (I speculate) Russ slipped him when he told him to bring the wine. For the record I think Russ's value system is whatever makes it easier to sell tickets or make money > what's good for team performance.
  13. The worst part about firing Whaley now is that (whether you want to admit it or not) it will limit the pool of GM candidates who are willing to take the job. GM's usually like to put their own people in place and they can't do that with the owner backing McDermott and basically handing him the keys. The new GM will basically be decided on by a 3 person committee of Pegula, Russ Brandon, and McDermott. Not exactly a confidence inspring panel in my eyes.
  14. Maybe it's because all he has to do to at this point to accomplish that is out perform Josh Gorges and Justin Falk. He doesn't need to be a world beater to be our second best left handed defenseman. That's the state of our defense right now.
  15. It's inefficient, like going to back to the bartering system instead of using currency. Sure you may be able to find a candle maker who needs your eggs but it's way easier to sell your eggs to whomever needs them and use the cash to buy candles.
  16. What a brilliant way to completely kill off what little excitement the trading deadline has left.
  17. You just gotta be patient and let it fill in. I used to shave everything but my mustache once a month (and my mustache every week) for our big monthly meeting but it's probably been 6 or 7 months since I shaved my face at all. You get used to it. The only down side is I stick out like a sore thumb since I work on a Marine Corps base where everybody shaves including most of the civilians. It's fun though because I can tell half the people are jealous and half the people probably think I look homeless.
  18. The not enough for me part was about only using a firestick for television. 50 mbps is probably more than I use most of the time, but I hate dealing with buffering and since I use my own modem, I'm only paying $49.99 per month (any taxes/fee are included in that) through Spectrum/Time Warner. When my family is streaming from my accounts they are using their own bandwidth at their own homes. It comes in handy though when the gf is watching something in the bedroom and I'm streaming something different in the living room or garage plus using the wifi for phones, video games, computers, etc. I'm not sure. I'll have to see during the next round of negotiations, ha ha!
  19. That's why you go with ice beer instead of the light (diet) stuff. Milwaukee's Best Ice is dirt cheap (about $15 for a 30 pack depending on location) and it's 6.9% ABV. Way more bang for the buck than any light beer and probably more bang for the buck than any of that specialty stuff.
  20. That's just not enough for me honestly. I have 50 mbps internet and I pay for up to 4 streams at a time through Netflix that I allow both of my brothers and my parents to use. In exchange I have my Dad's Hulu password and my brothers pay for HBO and Showtime that I use from them, plus my girlfriend has Amazon Prime so we use that for streaming. Despite all the options I'm still not quite ready to ditch regular tv, although I'll make a convincing case when I threaten to cancel in August.
  21. Why are you trying to low ball our best player?
  22. Yes, that's counting Sunday Ticket every year and 100 bucks for the Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight on Pay Per View whenever that was. No Center Ice though. I haven't gotten that since 2012 or 2013. I watched way too much tv to go without it.
  23. This is exactly the type of thing that drives me nuts and why the whole cord cutting trend will continue until an a la carte system is able to exist. With the exception of the occasional football or baseball game I haven't watched ESPN since there has been an NFL network and an NHL network. I've never cared for watching highlights of golf, tennis, nascar, or all of the other highlights that go into shows like sportscenter. It's also part of my argument every year when I threaten to cancel Directv when my contract expires each August and I agree to stick with them in exchange for either free Sunday ticket or a big enough discount that I'm willing to pay full/or a discounted price for Sunday Ticket. Last year I paid something like $207 for Sunday Ticket in exchange for a $50 credit to my bill every month for a full year. This year I plan to negotiate the same $50 credit (or hopefully even better) only I'm not going to pay for Sunday Ticket. I'll cancel that in a separate call after I get my deal. I've been tracking my bills over the years though and it's finally starting to trend in the right direction. 2014 - Total Spent on Directv - $1,700.07 (Avg $141.67) 2015 - Total Spent on Directv - $1,386.34 (Avg $115.53) 2016 - Total Spent on Directv - $1,385.68 (Avg $115.47) 2017 - Total Spent on Directv so far - $282.67 (Avg $70.67) 2018 will be even lower or I'll politely tell them to eat my ass.
  24. Plus he put his thumb on the scale with the hiring of Rex by telling him the Pegula's like red wine and to bring some with him to the interview. It wouldn't surprise me if he slipped him a few bible quotes to casually throw in during the discussion either but that's just my own speculation and my guess for how Rex was able to squeak through the religious barrier to being hired. That's probably my biggest issue with him other than selling games to Toronto. He shouldn't be involved in decisions that directly impact the on field/on ice product. Either way, both things revolve around the same issue which is sacrificing potential success on the field/ice in exchange for increasing the bottom line. That's why I hate him and I've venture to guess that's why many fans dislike him.
  25. Go to see George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic on Friday at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, SC. Tickets were only $20 each with the groove promo code. I'm excited. This will be the first show I've ever seen that wasn't metal or punk rock.
