Goaltending Controversy: Robin or Chad... or Linus
Drunkard replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
It's all a moot point anyway. I have it on good authority that Casey Mittelstadt will play goalie as well as 1st line center simultaneously as soon as he graces us with his presence. He'll score 10 goals a game while also getting 98 shutouts on the way to the first ever perfect season. -
Maybe for the first part of his rookie year. After that he'll be centering the top line and Eichel will be carrying his pads.
-
He likely won't get one. Reinhart has been productive for us but I imagine he'd want good money to sign a long term contract and the risk of him not playing up to it would be high for the Sabres, so they'd naturally want to low ball him (especially given his slow start this season). Because of that a short term deal that still leaves him as a RFA at the end of it is probably the best option for both sides.
-
Not bad, but I'd personally rather see O'Reilly on Reinhart's wing than Reinhart on O'Reilly's wing. Reinhart needs to get acclimated to the center position and this is the perfect year to do it because we're not going to seriously contend for the cup this year. 1. New Coach 2. Bad start to the season 3. Still plenty of cap anchors on the roster (Gorges, Moulson, Bogosian) If they envision him as a Patrick Sharp type that's fine, but he has to learn the center position first in order to do that effectively. The only way to do that is for him to get the bulk of his time at center. If we waste the chance to do it now, it will be more difficult for him to do it later when he's force into the center position because of an injury, suspension, etc.
-
I assume your comment was tongue in cheek. They'd be dumb not to re-sign him. I imagine they'll be too far apart on a long term deal and he'll get a bridge contract which is fine. That will give us time to get rid of some more cap anchors (Gorges this year and Moulson next year).
-
Doesn't sound much like a guy who hates to lose then.
-
Thanks, Eleven. It all makes sense now.
-
So what is his medical condition?
-
Exactly. Put Kane on the 3rd line and give them equal minutes to the other 2 top lines and see what happens. The first year of a new Head Coach is the perfect time to see experiment with lines, positions, and usage to see what works best.
-
We can load up Rochester with Eichel, Reinhart, and O'Reilly (assuming the overpaid bums sans Reinhart clear waivers) once Casey Mittelstadt comes to Buffalo. He'll play center on all 4 lines and just never come off the ice. He's that good.
-
I guess it's possible. I thought he started all that crap when he was in Colorado though and he seemed to play fine for us until the start of this season. Maybe he needs to get another DUI. He seemed to play pretty well after that happened.
-
So it worked for him for like 8 years and now it's the problem? I don't buy it.

Good luck with that. Based on the way you've described her you probably won't get very far trying to reason with her but I guess it's worth a shot. One of the only real benefits to getting older for me is realizing that I don't have to make time for people who add nothing to my life. I no longer let people like that (regardless of their views) get me bogged down in their nonsense or agendas and it's made me a much happier person. Life's too short to waste it on people who don't add value to your existence or experiences.
-
Try telling her the truth. You unfriended her because you were tired of reading about her judgmental tirades. You don't need/want it in your life and you're a meat eater to boot. What's the worst thing that could happen? Even if she did something crazy like spray painting cow murderer on your car it would get her fired and then you don't have to deal with her anymore. If she took the less crazy approach and just stopped talking to you altogether that would probably be a good thing as well. I can see putting up with nonsense from a boss or a family member, but sounds like this lady is just a colleague though, so you shouldn't feel obligated to placate her.
-
Sounds like you should unfollow her on twitter or unfriend her on Facebook. Then you don't have to see the nonsense. Problem solved.

Cool. I know they couldn't drop below a certain spot last year but wasn't sure about this year. I'll assume I made it up because a google search on my end didn't return anything and I'm sure you would have known about it if it were the case. So we have 4 studs and another quality Moosehead that we should be looking at if Housley isn't able to turn this show around. We'll see how it goes.
-
Sweet. Thanks for the info. Do you know if Vegas has any sort of guarantee not to drop below a certain spot on the board?
-
So who's the consensus 4th best prospect? We'll obviously finish last and 3 teams leap frog us in the lottery or is Vegas guaranteed not to drop below 4 or something along those lines (I really can't remember). If that's the case who is the 5th best guy?
-
Maybe Housley knows Eichel isn't strong in shootouts (from practice or his track record) and he wanted to protect his $80 million special snowflake. I can create a narrative too (possibly even a more likely one based on how things played out). Eichel comes out. The crowd goes crazy. Eichel misses his shot wide, or over the net, or he plants the puck right into the goalies crest. The crowd boos. Eichel crawls into a ball and sucks his thumb. There's your risk. Housley wants to win and he picked the 3 shooters he thought would give him the best chance of doing that. It didn't work and we lost. It's still his decision because he'll be the one who ultimately gets fired if/when the team doesn't perform to the owner's expectations on whatever time frame of Pegula's (more likely Russ Brandon, amirite?) choosing.
-
I heard $80 million was his not moving his feet contract price. If we wanted him to move his feet we should have paid him $90 million.
-
I'm sure they all look great in practice going up against Lehner.
-
But he just signed an $80 million contract. Doing so is scientifically proven to increase your shootout numbers from anywhere from 50 to 100%. It's science.
