  1. I agree, but he'll have to play some games first without getting hurt. I was excited to see him under a Housley coached defense but the fact that we were already a quarter way through the season before he even suited up has soured me on him in a straw that broke the camel's back sort of way. I'm ready to move him for whatever we can get and use the cap space elsewhere.
  2. If he retires he doesn't get paid. I hope he chooses to do that because then I think we'd get out of his cap hit, but I expect him to go to Rochester and be the rich guy who pays for team dinners.
  3. If someone claims him we all dance naked in the streets. Then we should waive Bogosian and see if someone bites.
  4. There's no way to know for sure whether Taylor would have helped them win or they still would have lost. I personally wasn't pissed because I was sure Taylor would beat the Chargers, I was pissed because I was 1000% sure that Peterman wouldn't. We still had a shot to make the playoffs at that point even while anticipating getting swept by New England and McGinger the dumbass chose to start a 5th round rookie QB on the road. If Gronkowski isn't given a hefty suspension then it's just further proof the league is corrupt. He should face criminal charges for assault the way McSorley did when he whacked Brashear in the skull.
  5. I'm sure they were just swapping holiday recipes. Or maybe bible passages or something. Russ wouldn't try to interject into hockey matters would he? Sure he has a baseball background and he did a stint as a football GM. He's obviously just a well rounded jack of all trades like that guy in the white house who can do it all, Jared Kushner.
  6. Poor wording on my part. I saw it in the title and meant it more like an if/then statement. I definitely appreciate the heads up on stuff like that so thanks. That being said though I only watched about 8 minutes total of the game. Tuned in late when we were already down 2-0 and watched Pittsburgh score the wrap around that put us down 3 nothing. I saw Nolan giving effort and Reinhart try to score from his knees. Other than that almost nothing positive. Pittsburgh swarmed them like wasps and basically controlled the puck at will 90% of the time. Our guys wilted under the pressure. I switched out to Hulu at intermission and didn't switch back. I don't regret it one bit. This team lacks everything. No heart, no grit, no direction, no leadership. Something needs to change.
  7. I don't know about the rest of you but I certainly feel better knowing that Russ Brandon is on the case. Smooth sailing ahead guys.
  8. It was a joke.
  9. This coming from a guy with a racist avatar. So it's ok to make fun of Asians but not fat people?
  10. If this is the free game on NHL.tv I might stream it through the Roku. At least until we go down 3-0 or something along those lines.
  11. It may not be filled but the majority of the seats are still sold so the team is still getting paid. Until the waiting list for season tickets evaporates and all the amateur scalpers who buy tickets for games they don't even plan to attend get fed up with losing money and stop assuming the revenue risk on behalf of the team the only financial pain is felt by the beer and snack vendors and whomever runs the parking.
  12. You're splitting hairs. He's a UFA at the end of this season. Teams gearing up to win aren't going to want to part with rostered players under contract/control. Unless you want to help them out by taking guys they don't want on their roster come playoff time. We could still land near ready prospects though. Good prospects that haven't been given a chance to move up because they play on teams with actual depth. A guy like that could probably play in our top 6/top 4 immediately if they came here because we have so many holes on the roster.
  13. Yes, they did. It's wasn't one team selling a pending UFA like we're looking to do with Kane though. Apples and Oranges. There's a reason the vast majority of rentals get sold off for picks and prospects. Teams fighting for the playoffs generally want to load up rather than ditching roster players under contract for rentals.
  14. You need more than just raw numbers to quantify the awesomeness that is Casey Mittelstadt though. You have to take into account the fact that he's single handedly maintaining the earth's orbit around the sun, keeping Nazi's from taking over the planet, defeating ISIS, and playing every position on the ice simultaneously while working on the cure for cancer.
  15. If it's the Chase Amazon card it's not a bad deal. My girlfriend has one and because she's a Prime Member she get 5% back (in points that can be redeemed at any time) on all purchases she makes through Amazon that she charges to that card. I think non Prime Member still get 3% back on purchases made with the card. There's no annual fee and you get points on other places you use the card as well (gas stations, restaurants, grocery stores, drug stores, etc.). This is coming from a guy that hates banks as well. I bank with credit unions only.
  16. The problem with this is no contenders or playoff bubble teams are going to "thin their ranks" with players they will need for the playoffs. The best we can hope for are near ready prospects. They aren't going to give us roster players other than people they'd prefer not to have on their roster come playoff time.
  17. Interesting article, particularly the part about taking another team's shorter term (either expiring this year or with one additional year) cap anchor while retaining on Kane in order to maximize the return and expand the potential market of suitors for his services. I've been on the re-sign Kane side of the divide but let's face it: This team is bad, this season is basically toast and we're better off getting something for him. A contender or a team on the playoff bubble isn't going to want to give us players who can contribute now that they'd prefer to use themselves on their playoff run, so we are looking at picks or prospects who aren't quite ready to make the jump. If taking on an additional anchor aids in that process to boost the return we should do it, as long as the anchors we take on are either expiring or only have one additional season. After this season we will be free of Gorges and after next season we'll be free of the contracts of Moulson and Pominville (although Pominville has played well) and we'll be down to just 1 additional year of Bogosian. Trading him away doesn't mean we can't try to re-sign him this summer either, although that may be tougher to do depending on what we take on if/when we deal him. Whatever GMJB decides should provide a glimpse of the timeline for the Sabres to become competitive. If he takes on an anchor with multiple years remaining, I'd say it's a partial admission that the short term outlook for the Sabres will remain bleak for a while.
  18. Embarrassment for who? Should we (fans) be embarrassed that the team is still so bad that significant portions of the fan base perpetually pin their hopes to the next crop of 18 year olds in the hopes that we get lucky with some wunderkind? Or should the organization be embarrassed that they can't seem to improve beyond the bottom 10 (and usually bottom 5 or worse) teams of the league? If it's the latter, I'd agree, but if it's the former I definitely disagree. I think the fact that the fans continue to show up at all or even tune in for this garbage on tv despite the lack of progress is bewildering. It borders somewhere between commendable loyalty in the face of adversity and pure lunacy.
  19. That one's easy. McGinger is a dumbass but even he wasn't stupid enough to put Peterman back out there after his piss poor showing. The guy simply isn't ready. Maybe he will be in a few years, maybe he'll never amount to anything (if I had to bet I'd put my money on the latter, but I wouldn't bet my house on it). I don't have any superior football knowledge but I can see it clear as day. The Saints defense did too.
  20. Not really. If Taylor has no chance to provide a 400 year 4 TD passing game then Peterman is in the negatives. He's not 1/10 of the QB Taylor currently is at this time. He's no where near ready to do anything more than hold a clipboard and perform mop up duty during blowouts. In short, not only does he suck, but he's too green behind the ears. He needs to sit and learn from the sidelines for at least a season and probably several.
  21. Just another reason why it was incredibly stupid to start Peterman against the Chargers. We may not have won anyway but the odds of winning with Taylor were infinitely better than with a 5th round rookie QB on the road.
  22. this nonsense. A pox on their goddamn houses. They all deserve face aids ........ and regular aids ......... and ass cancer. Or they can just all die in a fire, including the league brass.
  23. I've been to whatever the Sabres arena is called now a couple of times and whatever the Hurricanes arena is called about 20 times. The Sabres arena was nicer but I don't have much to compare it to. I haven't gone to a game in several seasons though. I was pro-tank but the tank itself zapped a portion of my hockey soul and caused me to stop caring about the team as much and definitely caused me to stop spending money on it. If they ever get their heads out of their and make the playoffs, I'll be interested to see if that fixes my apathy level or if the partial soul sucking was permanent.
  24. He has my vote. We're likely looking at pick 5 since Phoenix is worse than us and we'll get passed over by the 3 lottery winners. Let's get some Mooseheads up in this bitch.
