  1. Don't forget the 2 yard screen passes to the freaking tight end when the play would stand a much better chance of succeeding tossing it to McCoy.
  2. Not sure I agree but I'm 36 so I may not be in the age demographic you're speaking of. I'm no weekend warrior and I've cut back significantly on drinking over the last few years but I still find myself wishing 5/7 of my life away while waiting for my weekend days off. I've always questioned the standard 5 day work week in general. I wish I could work 4 ten hour shifts instead of 5 eight hour shifts. Then I'd get 3 days offs for every 4 days worked and still put in the same number of hours for compensation purposes.
  3. Good. We can't have those guys messing up the tank. They're better off in Rochester this season to help them gear up for their playoff run.
  4. Most centers get broken in on the wing for a while until they get a chance to adjust to the NHL game. Even Crosby started out on Lemieux's wing. Malkin definitely started out on Crosby's wing. I'm fine with Mittelstadt starting his NHL career on the wing and Eichel would be a perfect candidate to pair him with since they both have great speed and both of them can pass and shoot. It would make for some exciting hockey for a change. Once he adjusts they can split them up. It shouldn't take long.
  5. But Olofsson has? What universe are you living in? Last I checked him and Mittelstadt have both played 0 NHL games. As for Mittelstadt, he will prove it. He'll be a top line player by the time training camp is over. The rest of these bums don't stand a chance.
  6. Lord Mittelstadt's talents would be wasted on the 3rd line like some commoner. Now sit in the corner, think about what you've done, and say 10 hail Casey's until you're reading to put him on the top line where he belongs.
  7. By getting better performance out of the top 6 to ensure he isn't needed there. It shouldn't be too difficult. Mittelstadt Eichel Okposo CJ Smith O'Reilly Reinhart JAG Girgensons Pominville
  8. I think both teams are basically happy with the trade but gun to my head I'll probably say Winnipeg. That could change depending on the haul we receive for trading Kane though.
  9. Fair point. Thanks for clarifying. I see your logic, I just think he still has more value than you think he does. I thinks there's a good chance his game rebounds when the team improves too. You hope for a driver with a #2 overall pick but I've accepted that he's a passenger and that's fine. As long as he's a cost controlled RFA that isn't anchored to the cap creating opportunity cost against improving, I don't mind letting him work through his struggles here. I wouldn't worry about moving him until we have a legitimate upgrade to him on the roster to replace him though and from I what see of our organizational depth that's not happening anytime soon. If someone overpays for him, though, I'd ship him out in a heartbeat.
  10. It was definitely possible though. We could have bribed Vegas with a prospect or draft picks and gotten them to take whomever we wanted in the expansion draft. If we had offered them Nylander (for example) we probably could have gotten them to take Moulson and Bogosian. Imagine how easy it would have been to afford Kane then? I'm sure if we offered them a prospect like Asplund or Pu we might have been able to at least unload one of them.
  11. Makes no sense from a parity standpoint though. You'd end up like baseball where most years there are only a handful of teams who content year in and year out.
  12. Nothing wrong with a little booger sugar if you can afford it.
  13. I don't buy this at all. We should have bribed Vegas to take him in the expansion draft.
  14. I hate the heat, so that would probably tip the scales for me. I'd rather ride a stationary bike in an air conditioned garage while watching tv then deal with the heat. Then again, I don't work out anyway. I have a pull up bar over one of the doors in my house that I use probably 4/5 days a week after work and other than that I do 12 ounce curls (glug). It doesn't matter though. I have the body of a God (who care if it's Buddha?).
  15. 34 until May (I just looked it up) but I hear he can still crotch grab like a 20 something.
  16. Works for me. They could always take short term cap dumps from other teams as well as claiming anyone and everyone who gets placed on waivers. Since we're at the bottom of the heap we'd have dibbs on everyone that Phoenix doesn't claim first.
  17. You could always get one of those stands that turns a regular bicycle into a stationary bike. Then when the weather sucks you can get some miles in without leaving the comfort of your garage.
  18. My folks had a Buick LeSabre back in the 90's. That thing was a freaking tank with very few problems that they kept for probably 10 years. They always buy new cars and keep them until they get about 250k miles on them. I'm usually the same way but since the AC went that was it for me. My last car had about 180,000 miles on it when the AC died and since it would have cost several thousand to fix it I bit the bullet and got a new car (2015 Chevy Cruze). I feel for you though. There's nothing better than the period between paying off a car in full and months or years (if you're lucky) before you start to having repair problems. I always pretend the payment still exists and sock that money away directly into savings.
  19. I agree with most of this except I could see more of our pending UFA's getting moved in addition to Kane. Nobody will want Johnson but I could see Gorges getting a 4th or 5th rounder and guys like Pouliot or Falk and maybe even Nolan fetching even lower picks (6th or 7th rounders).
  20. That's why you're supposed to be drunk when you eat there. The alcohol kills all the bad stuff.
  21. Sounds a lot like me other than I'm fairly happy with my car if for no other reason than I had to get a new one back in 2015 because I live in the South and the AC died on my old one that summer. If the government shuts down on the 19th I won't get paid on the 26th and between going to Vegas last year and over spending on xmas gifts for family the meager savings I do have will only be enough to float me until my February mortgage payment gets made. If the shutdown lasts long enough for me to miss 2 paychecks I'm going to have to get a short term loan from my credit union or risk not paying off my monthly credit card balance in full until the shutdown is over and I get my retroactive pay. I'm deemed "mission essential" or whatever terminology they're using now to mean that even though the government is shutdown that I still have to go in to work, I just won't get paid until it's over.
  22. I don't get this mindset. He's on an ELC this season and he'll likely sign a bridge contract for cheap when the season is over. Unless you think his lack of production is bringing the rest of the team down or his attitude is causing problems in the locker room it's better to hold on to him and see if he can rebound/improve. It's not like he's signed to a long term deal for big money.
  23. Not at all, but adding a stud prospect like Dahlin, Zadina, Tkachuk, or Svechnikov, coupled with my personal Lord and Savior Casey Mittelstadt (PBUH), and reinforcements from Rochester next season (Guhle, Ullmark, possibly CJ Smith) could probably get this team actually competitive. Throw in a couple of bounce back/improvement seasons from guys like Reinhart, Okposo, and O'Reilly and they might even challenge for a playoff spot. The stars just need to align and it will be much easier for them to align with another blue chipper in the fold.
  24. The tank is on! We need to finish last to ensure one of the top 4 prospects. The expected top 4 seem to be the only 4 guys who will be ready to step in next season to help fix this mess.
