I'm not a Reinhart apologist even though I'd prefer to keep him rather than trade him for pennies on the dollar but he's also one of the few people on this roster who can make a tape to tape pass. He hasn't measured up to the expectations of a second overall pick but he's still cheap and should remain so for several more years. I think he's a passenger not a driver but as the talent improves around him he should be able to improve or at the very least get back to his production level of his first 2 seasons.

Coyotes beat the Blues 5-2. They have now tied us with 31 points, although we still have 2 games in hand. I have it on good authority that we can easily lose those games without gaining any points though. If this team is good at anything, it's losing.

Anaheim was in a pinch because they had to expose a good defensemen no matter what so that's not exactly an apples to apples comparison. Pittsburgh was in a pinch because they really wanted to protect Murray. We weren't up against the wall as much as either of those 2 teams. So what do you think it would have cost us to bribe Vegas to take either Bogosian or Moulson? I don't imagine it would have costs much more than Carrier and pick 37, but I could be wrong. It's not like they would have demanded Eichel or our 1st round pick in order to make a deal. They were gobbling up picks and prospects from whomever was offering them. It's also important to note that while Bogosian would be considered a cap dump by us that he probably would have just taken a regular spot in their lineup since (injuries aside) he's at least as good as McNabb and he's been in their lineup all season.
-
They ended up with a ###### load of extra draft picks so they took a bunch of players other teams wanted to unload instead of just standing pat and selecting the best of whatever was available to them in the expansion draft. Clarkson, Stoner, Fleury off the top of my head but who is a cap dump vs a valuable contributor to the team is both subjective as well as biased by hindsight because their team is playing well so McPhee is now a genius deserving of hero worship.

happens all the time though. It's not like bull in a china shop type players are the only ones who get injured. All it takes is a bad slash that breaks a bone in his hand or a high ankle sprain or something else along those line and we're . He's less likely to be injured with the way he's been playing recently, but he's also been significantly less effective and productive.

The actual price (2nd rounder) is just a guess but all the reports I saw were that Vegas was willing to work with basically every team and take their cap dumps and/or overpaid veterans in exchange for picks and prospects so that they could build for the future. Given how bad we finished last year our second round pick was pretty high (37) so it seems like it would have likely been a good starting point to unload Bogosian. Heck we could have thrown in Carrier as well since we ended up losing him anyway.
-
We could have given Vegas a 2nd rounder (or something along those lines) to take him in the expansion draft. Then we'd still have Carrier as well in addition to the extra cap space. Sure we'd have to use that space to replace his spot on the roster but we have to do that anyway for the 20+ games he's practically guaranteed to miss each season with injuries.

I can't speak for Dark but I just don't see the benefit. It's essentially a single cup coffee pot. I can buy a regular coffee pot that can brew 10 cups of coffee under $20 but a Keurig costs 10 times as much and brews 1/10 the amount. It just doesn't make sense to me. And that doesn't even factor in how much more expensive the k-cups are compared to regular coffee.

I agree. I would have much rather returned the thing so we could spend the $180 on groceries or any of the other million items that Walmart carries.
-
Nothing wrong with a rectal extraction of facts or anecdotal evidence. To each his/her own. I broke the glass on my coffee pot 10+ years ago and I've made nothing but instant coffee in my house ever since. I like not having to buy filters or clean the coffee pot or the machine out. I don't use sugar, but I usually buy the Dunkin Donuts brand coffee creamer and it has sugar in it already. My girlfriend won a Keurig at work from some contest (she's the store manager for one of the local DD's here) last winter and the thing has never been out of the box. I would have tried to convince her to return it to Walmart for store credit but I couldn't get all the extra stickers off the damn box. She'll probably end up giving it to someone else for a bday or xmas present because it's just taking up closet space now.

I hope this is the reason. Kane needs to be traded before he gets injured.

I can't remember what I was watching but body shots can also contribute to CTE because of the severe jolt/whiplash effect.

It may not be deserving of the C, but think we've been ignoring some breakfast sandwiches to round out the lineup. Eggs benedict, and things like sausage, egg, and cheese biscuits or croissants. Add a steak, egg, and cheese bagel and you've got the makings of a well rounded team when you add them to the other submissions so far.

No chance we pick 3rd. That's a lottery spot. We'll be jumped by at least 3 teams behind us, and we'll draft no higher than 4 or 5. Which is why we need to get the tank back on track.

Posturing is great until Kane breaks his foot, becomes untradeable, and walks for absolutely nothing in July. Holding out for that extra 3rd round pick or bottom 6 winger could end up costing him a 1st or a solid defensive prospect. I'm fine with him setting a high price, but given Kane's injury history he should probably not hold out until the last possible minute. Maybe getting 75% of his asking price is better than holding out for the full thing and the increased chances of getting nothing. Who knows though. He may be stalling because Kane has some secret/minor injury now and he's hoping for it to heal to ensure he passes his trade physical. Kane's production seems to have fallen off a bit lately, but I haven't been watching most of the games recently to know.

This. The guy particularly. Unless you just came out of a time machine from the 1970's there's just no excuse for that haircut. I hope they both rot in prison until they drop dead.

I agree. While there's always a chance their values will just continue to sink further I think their current values are already low enough now that we're better off keeping them to see if they can rebound or improve. Neither will be expensive to retain and neither will be anchoring the cap with a bloated contract so the wiser play is to hold onto them until we already have replacements that have proven to be upgrades.
-
I tend to think this is correct. The roster player will likely be JAG in order to balance salary/cap/contract limits and (more importantly for us) to keep us from having to raid Rochester for bodies once we start moving out pending UFA's. Anyone who thinks we are getting a 1st, good prospect, and good roster player for Kane is likely going to be disappointed. The conditional pick is kind of irrelevant to me since we have no clue who is going to trade for Kane yet, how much cap space they have, or whether they'll actually want/try to re-sign him. Plus I'm still kind of hoping we get a chance to re-sign him in July.

Can This Franchise Be Saved? How Long Will It Take?

They are still paying property taxes indirectly as renters though. The property taxes get built into the rent, otherwise the owner who is renting it out is subsidizing them out of his/her own pocket. I'd imagine most of the veteran players still buy vs rent though, especially the ones on long term contracts. -
