They were a good group until we lost 23 and 48. You add that group (in their mid 20's) to present day Eichel and O'Reilly and I think they'd be contenders.

He was considered high risk, high reward with boom or bust potential, mostly because he hardly played with the Gators so he really only had one year of tape when he played his National Championship season with Auburn. Of course it worked out well for Carolina, but at the time it wasn't quite the no brainer that it appears to be now (with the benefit of hindsight).

To crush your enemies. See them driven before you. And to hear the lamentations of their women.

If this team wants to have any chance to push for the playoffs next season, they can't just pin their hopes to an unproven rookie and a bum like Johnson. Saving a measly 2 or 3 million on the cap isn't worth it. If they need space that bad they can always buy out Moulson, Pominville, or Bogosian and free up around the same amount of space. Sure Ullmark has looked good in limited duty with the Sabres but the defense was protecting him big time and I doubt they'd be able to keep up that level of tenacity game in and game out over a full season. To bet on that to continue with such a small sample size to go on is risky as hell and could wind up costing GMJB and HCPH both of their jobs. I don't think they'd risk it.

I'd rather keep Lehner on another one year deal to rotate with Ullmark than to keep Johnson. Johnson sucks worse than Lehner in every category. The Lehner hate is getting out of hand if people honestly prefer Johnson over him.

I don't know. I don't have a crystal ball, inside sources, or any of that jazz. Instead of sticking to his ridiculous 4 piece nonsense we should have taken the best prospect offered though. It's been well reported that teams have had an interest in Kane but have hesitated because of the high asking price of our GM. It's not a stretch to say that these interested GMs would have offered us a good prospect for Kane if they didn't also have to include a first round pick, a roster player, and a conditional pick as well.
-
I have no clue. I don't have sources or insider information. It's not a big leap to think he would have returned a better prospect back when he was outscoring Eichel than he will in the next week though. The ridiculous 4 pieces that GMJB set as the minimum price may have kept some offers from even being made, we don't know. A more reasonable price may have invited offers from teams who aren't looking to even buy now.
-
Not necessarily. He's barely had a pulse since the change of the calendar. There's a definite possibly that his scoring rate falling off a cliff has dropped his rental value.
-
We should have traded him for the best prospect that was offered to us back in late December/early January. I predict he fetches a second round and mediocre prospect now, even with us retaining up to 50%.

Jbot Do Something Already 3 - deadline edition

They break out shootout losses from regular OT losses and the have 6 of those for a total of 26 wins and 27 losses in their 53 games. http://www.amerks.com/standings -
You gotta throw in something about uppity minorities and how the guy has no right to complain because he's a professional athlete.

No worries, man. I was just offering some food for thought. Gift cards are a good way to go, just make sure you never use a debit card online if you can avoid it. Welcome to the joys of online shopping.
-
I think you are worrying too much. Most major credit cards offer $0 liability in cases of fraud so that even if your card is compromised, you can report it stolen and you don't have to pay for the fraudulent charges and they'll just issue you a new card with new numbers. The one you really need to be wary of is using a debit card online. If that gets compromised they could empty your account and you're in for some serious headaches to even get that money returned. Other than food, I do almost all of my shopping online and I've never had an issue. My parent's credit card has been stolen a few times, but I think one instance came from the Target breach and it happened from them shopping at Target in person. Another instance they suspect happened at a gas station while they were on a road trip and someone used some sort of device reader to steal his numbers, but again that happened in person, not online. New cards and numbers issued and they never had to pay a cent towards any of the fraudulent charges.

When it's too tough for them, it's just right for us. We've got'em right where we want'em. One 25 game winning streak coming up! (Of course if it did happen I'm convinced the team finishing 8th would have 96 points and they'd still miss the playoffs).

I stopped there for time restraints (I cover the front office of my building while the other admin takes lunch so I had to boogie), but also because they finally started finishing as poorly as they started and drafting higher as a result. Just for you though: 13-14 Last 10 of 1-7-2 to finish at 52 points and 30th overall in the standings (Welcome to Buffalo Mr. Reinhart) 14-15 Last 10 of 3-6-1 to finish at 54 points and 30th overall in the standings (Welcome to Buffalo Mr. Eichel) 15-16 Last 10 of 6-3-1 to finish at 81 points and 23rd overall in the standings (Welcome to Rochester, Mr. Nylander) - a worse finish would have helped here and supports my point 16-17 Last 10 of 4-6-0 to finish at 78 points and 26th overall in the standings (save us Lord Casey!) - we got lucky here but finishing worse means we still could have taken him earlier and not had to rely as much on luck and other teams not realizing a true GOD was available to be taken.

This. If you look at the last 10 games of each season, which I did solely because it's listed right there on the NHL standings history you see. 07-08 Last 10 of 6-3-1 to finish at 90 points and 18th overall in the standings 08-09 Last 10 of 7-2-1 to finish at 91 points and 18th overall in the standings 09-10 Last 10 of 5-5-0 to finish at 100 points and 11th overall in the standings (Miller's Veznia year and the year we won the division) 10-11 Last 10 of 8-1-1 to finish at 96 points and 15th overall in the standings (made playoffs) 11-12 Last 10 of 6-3-1 to finish at 89 points and 19th overall in the standings 12-13 Last 10 of 6-4-0 to finish at 48 points and 23rd overall in the standings (lockout year) It may not have looked like it strictly using first half/second half cutoffs, but the Sabres definitely have shown a propensity for getting hot at the end when the games usually don't matter and screwing themselves out of a good draft position. The only time it really paid off was in 2010-2011 when they actually used their hot finish to make the playoffs.

I would say that WalMart is awesome. I know they are the great Satan and they are solely responsible for the closing of each and every single mom and pop store in the last however many decades but they may be the only thing keeping the poor and middle class viable. I went there after work yesterday and picked up the girlfriend some goodies for valentine's day including: A dozen red roses An overpriced hallmark card (no kidding, I'm looking at the receipt now and the card alone was $8.97) Variety box of Ferrer Rocher (or however you spell it) Chocolate candies - probably 20 pieces Another smaller box of Ferrero Rocher, just the hazelnut flavor - probably 10 pieces Pretty good sized stuffed animal lady bug Total price including tax was $46.72 Walmart rules. The people at 1-800 flowers and all those other websites and florists can all give each other aids. Bunch of overpriced con artists.

Gotta keep this 30th place team intact. #tankforever

That site is legit. I was even able to pull up the Sunnyvale Campground. I aspire to be a drunk trailer park supervisor someday to replace the dearly departed Mr. Lahey and I figure I might as well aim for the best one.

Definitely not. Even with Moulson leaving there's still Gorges and a few other slugs.

Don't ever change, PA. They were called the good old days for a reason. Mostly from the day drinking. Plus you could smoke in your office. None of this taking a break to walk outside and enjoying the sunshine to go smoke a cigarette. You're on company time, goddamnit! Now pour me another three fingers Old Grand Dad. I'm too busy sexually harassing my secretary to make my own drink! On a more serious note we don't have sit/stand desks at my work place, but I'm sure that anyone that wanted one could order one and get Uncle Sam to pay for it. The safety guys would approve it in no time flat. It's good for ergonomics (having the option to stand) which leads to less back and joint pain and fewer work place injuries and missed days. I'd guess that any overall efficiency increases stem from fewer missed days of the overall work force than it would be from improved productivity of the actual workers themselves.

I'm an in betweener as well. At 36 (soon to be 37) I'm kind of too old to be a millennial and I'm too young to be a Gen Xer. Being on the cusp of the two though I can safely point blame at them both for sucking while taking no responsibility for any of it myself. Yay me.

I agree. You can't really list anyone from outside the organization though so he probably just listed Smith there by default. He's got as good a shot as anyone currently in the organization though, at least until Mittelstadt is officially under contract and the 2018 draft happens (at that point we'll hopefully have one of Tkachuk, Svechnikov, or Zadina penciled in there). By that point he'd likely be bumped down a line or two.

F#@K Yes, it is! It can happen, you just have to believe.
