  1. Go to your bank/credit union and talk to the loan officer (or do it online). They should be able to get you pre-approved for a mortgage and walk you through the different options with regards to down payment requirements, monthly payment estimates, etc, depending on the type/size of the loan and all that. Doohickie is right that interest rates are going to continue to go up, along with housing prices, so you're better off locking yourself in sooner rather than waiting and giving more money to whomever you eventually buy from for a similar place.
  2. Put a stool in the bathtub and have him sit in there. That's where I cut my dog's hair and if we didn't have a garage that's where I'd have my gf cut my hair back when she used to do it.
  3. I was one of the few people on here who didn't even want to pay the price for O'Reilly before he came here but if they trade him they better damn well be getting a solid NHL ready center back in return. Center was supposed to be our team strength but with Eichel battling ankle aids 2 years in a row and with it looking like Reinhart will be on the wing going forward we can't really afford to give him up without getting one who can play immediately in return.
  4. 35 minutes for a hair cut? That's insane. I'm not even inside the barber shop for 35 minutes total, even if there's a decent line. Then again I get my hair cut on base and just go to whomever's chair is open whenever I'm next up in line. I'm usually in and out in less than 10 minutes. I used to let my girlfriend cut mine, but she works more hours than I do, so I stopped asking her to do it.
  5. Housley hates Russians. Antipin has been better than Beaulieu all year and usually better than Gorges as well (although Gorges is still capable when he gets sheltered minutes).
  6. I've only seen some brief clips but what I saw was funny. Liberals put chemicals in the water to turn the frogs gay.
  7. I heart this post, especially the stabby part.
  8. My hopes for any chance of improvement next season are split between Mittelstadt joining the club and whether we manage to draft in the top 4 and snag one of the guys who is ready to contribute immediately. If neither happens, I expect to stink again and I won't be spending a dime on this team again next season. If one or the other happens I think it's a coin flip. If both go our way and Mittelstadt joins us along with Dahlin, Svechnikov, Zadina, or Tkachuk then I'll be optimistic for improvement and may even get Center Ice next season. We may still miss the playoffs but I don't think we'll be effectively eliminated from contention in January. We'll know more in the coming weeks.
  9. I just don't get pining for a bad/mediocre coach. We had zero success with DB so there's no tracking record of success to look back on. At least Eleven's pining for Lindy Ruff has some fond memories to look back on. I do give DB credit for last year's power play though. Bob Woods or not, he was the head coach so he gets credit for the great power play and for the horrendous 5 on 5 play. I'm not a PH fan by any stretch but I can say that I prefer his system so far to DB's even if the results haven't shown improvement. I hated the stretch pass/dump and chase that DB defaulted to, even if it kept us marginally more competitive with the help of the top power play.
  10. He was probably worth a more valuable prospect than Dan O'Regan. Setting too high of a price and holding firm to it most likely limited the number of interested parties. It's speculation based on known/available information. Every report stated that GMJB was holding firm on his 4 pieces including a first price tag and those same reports said that none of the other GM's were biting at that price (and the facts have born that out by the fact that Kane didn't fetch the required return). If you were running some playoff bubble team and you had your sights set on adding a guy like Evander Kane but the price is 4 pieces including a first, you're more likely to either stand pat with your roster or look elsewhere for upgrades that can be had for cheaper. Maybe a team is willing to give up a near ready prospect but no 1st rounder. Maybe another team is willing to give up a first but no prospects. Sticking so firmly to his guns was stupid. Whatever. I've never claimed insider sources or any of that nonsense. You don't have to have any special insight to see that JB overplayed his hand.
  11. It's definitely both. GMJB set his prices way too high and it likely lowered the number of teams who even bothered to kick the tires on some of our guys which weakened the market on our players. The fact that the team has been poor all season further suppressed value. I'm sure we could have gotten a much better prospect for Kane than Dan O'Regan if not for the 4 pieces including a first nonsense. He insisted on getting 4 quarters for his gold dollar though and ended up settling for 3 dimes in the 11th hour when he may have been able to get a half-dollar or two quarters if he hadn't been so firm in his demands.
  12. You're nothing if not persistent, Pi. The way you pine for that mediocre bum DB borders on fascinating. PH sucks too so far, but that doesn't making getting rid of DB a mistake. He was terrible.
  13. Good, man. I bet you can pick them up on stub hub for dirt cheap next season. Especially if the Sabres start the year off on one of their patented slow starts.
  14. I was close. That conditional 4th rounder in 2020 is gonna be sweet though.
  15. Wrong Kane. He was talking about Patrick Kane.
  16. There are way more than 3 prospects in this league that hold more value than a late first round pick. I understand the sentiment of holding firm on a set price, but there are dozen of prospects that are worth more and (more importantly) will be ready to contribute sooner than some 17/18 year old kid that gets drafted 27th overall this June.
  17. The first episode of Season 3 of Ash vs Evil Dead aired last night. It felt like it was over in a flash, but that may be because I'm used to binge watching episode after episode. Solid episode overall but the best part to me was that based on the season previews Lee Majors will return to Season 3 as Ash's Dad in ghost form. I'm glad they are keeping him involved with the show. Welcome back, Lee.
  18. I'd definitely like to see GMJB pick up some of these waiver players to replace anyone he ships out via trade. Players clear waivers in 24 hours still, correct? The clock is ticking to snag some of these guys so we don't have to raid Rochester for warm bodies.
  19. Kane for a second rounder and middling prospect.
  20. He just needs to rub some tussin on it.
  21. I have every single poster except myself on my ignore list. Don't ask me how I see threads that I didn't start to post in them. I'm not here to read the thoughts or opinions of others, I'm just here to bless you all with my presence. You're welcome.
  22. I agree with this. Keep them around as long as they remain cheap and on relatively short term deals. Our cap situation will start looking good after next season when Gorges (2018), Moulson (2019), and Pominville (2019) are off the books. At that point the only anchor left will be Bogosian and even his contract will expire at the end of the 2020 season. We can worry about demoting or moving them only when we have guys that are better, younger, and/or cheaper.
  23. He should be looking at younger guys under control or veterans who still have term on their contracts. Basically anyone who can help us beyond this shart of a season.
  24. In what world can we get Tyson Barrie for Bogosian, Larsson, and a 2nd round pick?
  25. I concur. The clock is ticking on this guy.
