  1. I fully expect them to win something crazy like 10 or 12 of their last 15 games and finish 25th overall while drafting 9th.
  2. Yep. A system like that would destroy league parity.
  3. That show is pretty good. There's a plot twist at the end of the season that I didn't expect. Season 2 already aired on NBC (or whichever network it was on) but it hasn't been to Netflix yet. We watched it through Hulu but I plan to dvr season 3 if I haven't cut the cord before then and cancel Directv.
  4. On the bright side we're in sole possession of last place thanks to Phoenix having a game in hand over Buffalo. If the season ends that way, we're guaranteed one of Dahlin, Svechnikov, Zadina, or Tkachuk.
  5. It wouldn't work because the AHL is the NHL's minor league. What happens when the Marlies get promoted and have to play Toronto? Would the GM's even let their teams take the ice? How would the league handle players getting sent down and called up? You couldn't do the way it stands with many of the players in the AHL being the property of an NHL team.
  6. You forgot that Chad Johnson won a few games in net and now deserves an extension despite the fact that his save percentage for the entire season is still under .900
  7. I'm no CBA expert but I think we could qualify him at the same $4 million he earned this year. If he goes to arbitration and gets awarded something crazy we could always walk away at that point. I don't think he's worth $5 million either. Hell, I'd rather do what Huckleberry spitballed and lure Enroth back from the KHL. I just don't trust Johnson and a rookie in a non-tank season.
  8. I'd rather keep Lehner on another one year deal than pin the hopes of next season on a rookie goalie and Chad freaking Johnson. Ullmark was great in spot duty but as (I think it was PA) said, the Sabres were protecting him like a mother grizzly protects her cubs. They won't be able to keep that up over a full season. Johnson is mediocre on a good day. Unless Ullmark stands on his head all year there won't be much chance of playoffs.
  9. Chad Johnson has been playing well recently but I still don't trust him to platoon with Ullmark next season. He's been bad more than he's been good this season and his overall stats bear that out. Recency bias is setting in deep around these parts.
  10. You're evaluation is starting to border on blasphemy. Next you're gonna say he doesn't even walk on water. I'll pray for you.
  11. Eichel and O'Reilly won't get paired together other than on the power play because we need them both to play center. Reinhart has shown he's better playing wing with either of those guys centering him and until Mittelstadt blesses us with his presence we don't have another center who belongs in the top 6.
  12. If he gets a bridge we should be able to get him for cheaper than $4.5 million per year. The whole $100k per point should only apply when you are "buying" UFA years. It's a gamble either way. We could probably get him on a bridge of 2-3 years for $3 to $4 million per which still leaves him as an RFA at he end of the deal or we could lock him up for 8 years at something like $5 or $5.5 million per. I'd probably go with the bridge personally but with the way he's played since the calendar change to 2018 I won't be upset if they lock him long term, but if they go long term they should lock him up for the full 8.
  13. 1. I don't think so because he started turning the corner in 2018 while Eichel was still healthy. 2. Quite possibly. This is the best case scenario so hopefully that's it. 3. I doubt it because he started turning the corner while Kane was still here. 4. Quite possibly, This is the worst case scenario so hopefully that's not it. 5. Sure thing. Voodoo is powerful. 6. Let's hope for 2 and 5. I'm definitely encouraged by the turnaround by Reinhart (as well as O'Reilly and Okposo). Now we have to hope they can do the same thing in October when the games count for a playoff chase. I've been down on the Sabres for a while but I really think the team could be close to being actually competitive. Adding a top 4 pick (I hope) in addition to Mittelstadt, Guhle, Ullmark and another guy or two from Rochester while moving out some of the dead weight should go a long way to improving the team.
  14. I just pulled up my mortgage info after logging into my credit union's website and I still think the 30 year fix rate is your best bet because it will lower your payment now (enabling you to get a better house) while also allowing you to cut down on the term down the road when you're making better money. I got a 30 year fixed mortgage that started on 9/1/2012 with the maturity date of 8/1/2042. After the first month I started paying an extra $100 over the regular payment with it specified that the extra $100 will go all towards principal. I kept that up for 30 consecutive months until I switched to a lower paying job and ever since 4/1/2015 I've only been making the regular payment. Based on my currently amortization schedule my mortgage should be at a zero balance after my payment on 2/1/2041, so that $3,000 extra I managed to add on to my payment over that 30 month period has essentially eliminated the final 18 months of payments on my mortgage. Typing this makes me realize I really need to go back to paying that extra $100. Hopefully I'll be able to restart it soon, although I'm still paying off my solar panels and my car payment so it will probably need to wait another year until the solar panels are paid off. It's food for thought though. If money is tight right now, the best bet is locking in that low rate for 30 years soon and paying extra down the road when you're in better financial position so you can turn that 30 year loan into a 15 or 20 year loan.
  15. Yeah, I assume that part is speculation. It will be interesting to see if the evaporation of the STH waiting list moves the needle for the Pegula's or if they'll remain tone deaf to the grumbling of the fans and raise ticket prices for next season anyway. With the safety net gone, they may need to re-think their strategy because it looks like at least a portion of those empty seats will no longer be paid for if the waiting is truly gone and people get fed up with the ever rising prices.
  16. I'm with you. Top 4 or bust. Phoenix and Ottawa seem determined to make us sweat it out though. A top 4 pick coupled with Mittelstadt, Guhle, Ullmark, and possibly another addition from Rochester like O'Regan or Nylander would actually have me feeling optimistic for next season even without further additions from outside the organization (through FA or trades). Personally I'm hoping for either Svechnikov or Zadina (since I doubt we'll win 1st pick in the lottery) but I'd be A-OK with taking Tkachuk if we dropped to #4.
  17. Audiobooks are great. There are a bunch of them for free on the YouTube app that I play through the Roku when I go to sleep. Astrophysics for people in a hurry by Neil DeGrasse Tyson and the God Delusion by Richard Dawkins are two of my go to's. I just shut the tv screen off while still having the audio portion of it play through the speakers.
  18. I don't have a link but Chz reported a while back that the season ticket holder waiting list has evaporated to zero. If that's true (and I no reason to doubt it) then it appears either some fans are sick of losing, they are tired of paying STH prices when they see tickets for much cheaper on the secondary market, or too many amateur scalpers are tired of taking a bath on their attempts to subsidize going to their cherry picked games by selling off their tickets to other games. I would guess that it's a combination of all three.
  19. You'd pay a metric ton less in interest with a 15 year mortgage vs a 30 year mortgage (plus own the home twice as fast) but you're monthly payment would be about a third higher, and since you guys probably don't want to live next to a meth lab you're better off locking in a 30 year fixed rate while they are still near historic lows at a payment you can reasonably afford in a better home/area. Depending on your mortgage contract you can always make additional payments later and apply them directly to principal to knock term off down the road when your careers are more established and you can afford to do so.
  20. So all of you quitters hate MODO now. Got it.
  21. That was my impression, though it appears I may have been hoodwinked. Even if it was in honor of Modo, then what's the reason to remove that honor now? Did he shave off his porno stache or something?
  22. You former Swedes should all be ashamed of yourselves. Chasing your hollow victories. Those of us who remain true to the faith of stallin for Dahlin will hopefully be able to curry favor with the gods and make up for your lack of commitment.
  23. You spelled Mittelstadt wrong, so I corrected it for you. I will pray for your soul at my shrine to Casey. He is a just and loving God though, so you should be spared his wrath. Eichel will be diagnosed with chronic ankle aids by 2020 so we'll probably be begging Seattle to take him off our hands. Nothing like giving an $80 million contract to a player who had yet to crack 60 points in the NHL.
  24. Looks like the expansion draft will be the same as well. https://www.cbssports.com/nhl/news/gary-bettman-nhl-expansion-draft-for-seattle-team-would-follow-vegas-blueprint/
