And the news just keeps getting better! I thought it was still in place, but I'm pretty sure we exposed him in the expansion draft and we couldn't have done that if his NMC was still in effect.
-
If that's the case then why does Zach Bogosian still have a NMC clause?
-
Sweet. I hope they're accurate. That alone makes this a great deal because even if Skinner is a total disappointment we should be able to move him at the TDL for close to what we paid for him if not more. Good move, Pugsley.
-
I'm interested in knowing the status of his NMC as well. It should be completely gone at this point. I hope Pugsley didn't promise to keep it in place. Skinner may very well have made that a condition in order to agree to waive it in the first place.

off topic What I do to reduce my environmental footprint...
Drunkard replied to SDS's topic in The Aud Club
Damn, then I'm not sure what. Either the family is learning to turn off lights and gadgets when not in use or maybe you're using the same number of watts and the utility company dropped the price per Kilowatt hour or something along those lines. Either way, it sounds like one of those good problems. -

Did you replace any major appliances? Sometimes replacing an old fridge/freezer or things like TV's, toaster ovens, computers, etc. with newer more energy efficient models can add up on a monthly basis. -
I think it has more to do with being good and drafting low where we've been drafting high so our prospects are ranked higher.

Dining room tables are over-rated anyway. I have a Super Chexx bubble hockey table where a dining room table is supposed to be and even though I haven't played it much lately, it's still better. We usually eat in the living room anyway. The best piece of furniture is a lift top coffee table. I use that thing almost every single day.

I'm just ready to see some FNG's. We already know what guys like Pominville, Larsson, and Girgensons bring to the table and it's not all that much, so I'd rather see Olofsson, Thompson, and guys like Bailey and Baptiste get a shot so we can see if they have at least the potential to be improvement over those other guys.

Just pour the detergent into the cap of the bottle, dump the cap into the washer, and put the cap back on the jug. There's no need to rinse it out, the remnants will drip back into the jug. Problem solved.

Movies / TV Shows - I Have Watched / Plan To Watch
Drunkard replied to Sabres Fan in NS's topic in The Aud Club
Yep. I think her name is Jenji Kohan or something along those lines. She doesn't seem to have an original idea in her head because not only was Weeds a ripoff, Orange is the New Black is a ripoff of another show about a woman's prison as well called Wentworth. Wentworth is Australian/New Zealand I'm pretty sure and while it's more of a drama than a comedy, but it's really good. It's also on Netflix so if anyone is looking for another show to watch it's definitely worth a look. -

Shameless is awesome. Even the original British version is great, although I like the US version better. I love a good anti-hero and William H Macy plays the part to absolute perfection. Weeds was great the first few seasons then it kind of jumped the shark for me, although I eventually finished the series (it's also a knockoff of a British show, but I've never seen that version). Dexter was great until the end. They rushed the last season so it could air before Ray Donovan instead of just releasing that show 6 months later. Bastards. -

I watch Shameless through the Showtime app, but you should enjoy this one. I was a little worried about it losing some humor with Frank laying off the sauce but it was still highly entertaining. -
Welcome! Sexy sexy Julien would always be their first choice, but he's usually too busy stealing change or running his casino business. He won't be too eager to work for Lahey. Randy on the other hand, is always available, unless he's hooking for cheeseburgers of course. Plus he looks great in the approved shirtless uniform. P.S. Have you finally watched any of the show yet?
-
He can't do push ups like that because his dick keeps his arms from touching the floor.

And the best place to live is Sunnyvale Trailer Park. Liquor, dope, hash coins, piss jugs, smokes, and chicken fingers (the good kind). Oh, and theft under $1,000 means you'll be out of jail in time for the next season of the show.

Doug Stanhope is awesome. Ron White is good the first time you watch him, but then he re-uses the same material in multiple specials so that took him down a few pegs in my book. If you like those guys though, check out Dave Attell, Bill Burr, Louis CK, and Jim Norton. All hilarious with varying levels of debauchery involved. -
That's just how it goes. When Grigorenko and Girgensons were drafted they were immediately penciled in as our top 2 centers. Grigorenko busted out while Girgensons had his "all star" season thanks to the ballot box stuffing in Latvia and suddenly Girgensons is a top line center and pretty much stayed there until we drafted Reinhart. Reinhart was penciled in as the next hero before he played a single second in the NHL and didn't get pushed down our speculative depth charts until we traded for O'Reilly and drafted Eichel. When we traded for Hodgson he was overhyped as well and so was Johan Larsson when we got him in the Pominville trade. Part of it is out of necessity (if you're trying to make a depth chart, you've got to put everybody somewhere) and part of it is irrational fandom. We have to belief our young guys will reach their full potential, otherwise there's not a whole lot of incentive to keep watching when the team is as bad as it is.

Left versus right is ruining democracy
Drunkard replied to dudacek's topic in The Oval Office (Politics)'s Topics
This is another great point. Pork spending allowed these elected officials to compromise and go back to their constituents with a reward for that compromise. Many people may not have been happy overall with that latest spending bill but if they were able to secure some funds to build a library, dredge their harbor, or fix some potholes they at least had some sort of feather in their cap to hold up to their voters. -

I get this, but they still make it worse by carving up districts block by block in order to pack or spread the demographics to levels that didn't exist in the pre software age. -

It's definitely true that Gerrymandering has existed since long before the current political divide. I don't believed it caused the hyper partisanship we see now, I think it just exacerbates it (hence the steroids analogy). The way these districts are set up leads to so many of them being politically safe from an R vs D perspective and that makes it become more of a hurdle to compromise with the other side because you're vulnerable to attacks from your own side for being soft on key issues important to your red or blue base. That's why the tea party won all those seats from establishment Republicans back in 2010. In the really red districts anyone who was perceived to be working with Obama and not part of the obstruction or bust strategy found themselves vulnerable, not in the general elections, but from members of their own party in the primaries. -
I didn't think about this but that's a good point. I think I have 10 foot ceilings everywhere in my house except for the living room, so that might be why I need to keep it cooler. I would love to do this but my electric bill would probably double in the summer time, even though I have solar panels. That makes sense. When it's really hot any drop has got to provide some relief.

UPDATE: Sam Reinhart signs 2-year extension -- $3.65MM per year
Drunkard replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
If that's the case, I'd just bridge his ass then. I wouldn't do him any favors by setting him up to be a UFA in his prime. -
Should Jbot Try To Add to This Roster Before Next Season?
Drunkard replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
Pominville scored 34 points last year as a 35 year old. He's still an anchor on the cap and the lineup. Luckily it's just for one more season. Sobotka may be younger, but he's already less productive and he'll be an anchor for the cap for 2 more seasons. Berglund is also younger, but less productive than Pominville and will be anchoring our cap for 4 more seasons.
