Sabres are ruining Murray's plan---what does he do??
Drunkard replied to matter2003's topic in The Aud Club
It's not better than getting McDavid or Eichel, but people will try to spin it that way. Just like the couple of times we made the playoffs after 7/1/07 and people (on other Sabres boards, I don't think I was reading this one in those days) raved about what a great learning experience it would be for the young guys and how all the momentum from finishing out the year strong would somehow carry over through months of offseason and into the next season. Of course we tended to start out poor at the beginning of the year regardless, but it didn't stop the narrative. -
As long as you don't vote for RJ, welcome aboard, sir. If you want to vote for Jeanneret you should first suck a bag of bleedy ###### infested with AIDS, then leave, without voting of course, good sir. And I meant all that in a good wholesome Christian way so nobody can be offended.
-
Sure, why not. I want RJ to win this thing because he's been with the team throughout almost the entirety of its existence. He may not have played the game on the ice but he's meant more to me than any single player. Guy fought off throat cancer to get back in the booth with the team being historically bad at the time. He didn't piss and moan, demand a trade, or refuse to show up because he felt underpaid or under appreciated. The rest of the list can suck it as far as I'm concerned. RJ deserves it over all of them.

Lafontaine and Hasek because to put it in the terms of Spottswoode from Team America World Police You walked out. You're a butt ###### quitter!

Trade the pending UFA's (although I'd keep one of the goalies) and get what you can whether it's now or at the deadline. I don't trade Myers unless they are willing to meet Murray's price which is probably overpayment but we don't need to move him at all at the point.
-
Sweet. He must have AIDS then.

Unless those trades include Myers or both goalies it may not help as much as you assume it will. Look at our pending ufa's. The team may actually get better losing some of them. Outside of the goalies those aren't the guys helping us win, although I guess cashing in all of our deadline chips early could lead to a drop in morale and some losses but it wouldn't surprise me one bit to see Nolan get them to rally in spite of it. -
We have almost no chance at a playoff spot after losing to Denver because of our conference record but I'd still like to see us finish 9-7. We've only beat one good team all year in Detroit and 2 decent ones in Cleveland and Miami. I want to see us beat the Raiders as expected and beat at least 1 of GB or the Cheaters. If Marrone can't do that I want him shown the door and we'll see if Pegula's money is enough to entice quality candidates out of the woodwork.

This draft is supposed to be as deep as 2003 so I'd rather roll the dice 3 times.

A win tonight puts us 7 points out of 30th and only 6 points out of 8th in the East. People thinking this is just a lucky streak are in denial. We're playing way too well to finish last.

GDT: Panthers @ Sabres, 12/13/2014, 7:00 pm, MSG
Drunkard replied to I am Defecting's topic in The Aud Club
I think a win tonight would put the Sabres one point closer to 8th than to last place. Nolan certainly has these guys outperforming their talent level. Hopefully Reinhart reaches his potential. -
One final year of tanking could set us up to be a contender for the next 15 years. Imagine having a center lineup of McEichel, Reinhart, Girgensons, and Grigorenko plus having other guys like Ennis, Foligno, McCormick, and even Hodgson who can play the wing and fill in at center in a pinch. Add that to our solid young defensive core and we could be solid from top to bottom especially if/when some of our other prospects hit and are able to replace guys like Stafford, Flynn, Mitchell, Hodgson, Meszaros, and Benoit. If even half of just our first and second rounders from recent years pan out we'll be able to waive players in a few years who are "good enough" to play on our 2nd and 3rd lines now. Plus there's always the chance of getting some of our lower round picks hitting as well.
-
I'm still completely pro-tank I'm just not very optimistic that it's going to happen any more, at least not to where we end up guaranteed to at least draft Eichel. We may still be getting painfully outshot but the team is playing well, with more confidence, and most of the players helping us win aren't going anywhere (28, 63, 26, 51, 55) and the others who are playing well (57, 1, 34) aren't necessarily going anywhere although I believe Murray will move one of our goalies. We're winning a lot of games, especially at home, and even though it's not likely to continue through the rest of the season at the current pace, it may very well still put us out of the sweet spot in the standings.

Everyone says it's not sustainable but maybe just maybe Teds Nolans has everyone else in the league right where he wants them. Maybe Hasek was only successful because of Nolan not the other way around. Maybe Enroth remains the mighty Ethron because Nolans has allowed it to be so. Being horribly outshot is all part of the rope a dope to tire out the other teams while the Zemgus, Ennis, Moulsons line and the rest of the Buffalos Sabres are able to generate more goals with half the shots on net. Ok, back to reality. It may not b sustainable but it's still looking like they are defying the numbers enough to consistently win more than they should at this point. Without a big change made to the roster I don't see this team finishing in the bottom 5 anymore, let alone b3ing guaranteed one of McDavid or Eichel.

Because the tanks and armored vehicles along with all of the countys bazookas had already been promised to protect the nativity scene at the local church I'm guessing. Plus you can't have swat breaking up a poker game or kicking in the door to some families home without flash grenades. Where's the fun in that?

I'd love for Garth to take him and I really love the idea of sending him to Phoenix for a 7th rounder. Hopefully the offer gets leaked to the public and they either take it or the GM in Phoenix has to publically decline and admit his assistant GM was a moron for offering him the deal in the first place. Unfortunately I think it's all just wishful thinking.

I've been a Hodgson supporter in the past, but it's clear that he's just not a good fit here anymore with Nolan or in general. He has offensive talent but he needs to play with linemates who are both offensively gifted and defensively responsible to make up for his shortcomings and if we had a bunch of guys like that we wouldn't need Hodgson to drag down this mythical line of 2/3 awesome anyway. Does he still hold any value at this point or does his contract essential give him negative value? Who could we feasibly trade him to?
-
Voted for Schoenfield, Gare, and Peca in order to help keep Jeanneret off the chopping block. I understand people preferring players over others in the organization but RJ has been the one constant through all of the various era's. He'll get my support in this until the end.

I fear Edmonton more than anybody in the CHL. They've proven to be a worthy adversary for most of the last decade. With some tweaking they could improve that team. If they traded Eberle to St. Louis for Berglund like was previously remoed and had them add Ott into the deal they could fix their hole at center and add some toughness and grit and get some better defensive play from their forwards. I wish they had made the trade to pick up Boychuk and Leddy instead of the Islanders.

Just like the thing with crazy relatives, if you can't point out who it is, then it's probably you.

You left out AIDS. I'm offended.

Any word on the fan advantage code for tonight with the game being on NBC Sports? On HF boards they said the code was Enroth but it didn't work.

Except that it has absolutely nothing to do with free speech and everything to do with political correctness. So I guess if his good points are that he was completely wrong about his initial point then yeah, those are some good points about how the 1st Amendment is no more. And with that this dead horse should be ready for the glue factory.
-
What does any of that have to do with the first amendment though? The 1st Amendment is there to protect you from the government and/or police from arresting you for using inflammatory speech, it's not there to protect against a public backlash. The ability to have a backlash for controversial comments is just another example of free speech at work. The private business is 100% within their rights to hire/fire whomever they choose and if they want to cower to public pressure they can do so and if they want to try to ride out the storm/backlash they can do so. I think you are getting confused. You want to piss and moan about political correctness not the 1st Amendment because saying nonsense like we don't have free speech anymore is ludicrous. Somebody saying something that ruffles feathers and getting fired by a private business because enough people complained is not a violation of free speech in any way, shape, or form.
-
I never understood this argument. Where are these people getting locked up in the US for offending people? No where because it's not happening. Freedom of Speech is there to protect you from the government or the police from detaining or arresting you for speaking about whatever you so please, it's not there to protect you from a public backlash if your offensive comment gets put out there for the world to see and people want to chastise, boycott, or exercise their 1st Amendment right to condemn whatever you happened to have said. Paula Dean, Bill Maher, and that fraudulent hillbilly from Duck Dynasty didn't lose their jobs because the 1st Amendment doesn't exist. They lost their jobs because the people who didn't like what they said used their first amendment rights to whip enough people into a frenzy that their employers decided it would be a better PR move to cut them lose rather than face the backlash. Although in the case of the fake hillbilly I think there was enough backlash the other way to keep those khaki short and polo shirt wearing fakes on the air.
