I'd definitely say win now. This defense won't be this ferocious forever, especially as Kyle and Mario Williams continue to age. Trading a young linebacker for a stud running back towards the end of his peak is another indication. I doubt Rex Ryan came here with the idea of not being good enough to win for a few years.

Enroth and Neuvirth were in the last year of their contracts so it was smart to trade them. I also imagine it's likely he brings one of them back in free agency or someone he perceives to be an upgrade. Trading away Moulson and McCormick last year and then bringing them back turned out to be a good move and I think trading away Enroth and Neuvirth will prove to be good moves as well.

Nope, it came from the river, not some hippie's bong or anyone's toilet unfortunately. There may have been some fresh basil in it though. It's probably been 25+ years since I read the book (I'm 33 so I'm guessing I was younger than 8 when I read it) but I can't be sure, I just remember the basis of the story.

It's a book about a guy with nothing to eat who got everyone in town to pitch in and make a big vat of soup to share with everyone. He started with just water and a stone and everyone who wanted to try his soup contributed an ingredient and it wound up becoming an actual soup rather than a vat of hot water with a rock in it.

I've been a Larsson skeptic to this point but he seems to be improving and I'd be happy to see him earn a spot on the roster next season. I know he's a left handed shot but does anyone know if he's capable of playing right wing instead of left wing if he is not playing center? We are definitely weak when it comes to right wing and there seems to be two schools of thought where some people think switching sides is no big deal where others are somewhat skeptical of that. I've always seen him listed as either C or LW.

I think you are misinterpreting the meaning of the word awesome. Maybe if they were wrestling in a vat of mud or jello or whipped cream or something you'd have a point, but white chicks making raps about Disney characters is hardly awesome.

This is funny, sad, and true all at the same time. Winter classics without the winter classic patch or flat out original jerseys. No gray cuffs, capes, slugs, pit stains, excess piping, or unnecessary gray lines all over the logo. Someone needs to just slap their hands and say NO! like you would with a toddler heading towards the light socket with a fork.

Just like many if not all of us have assumed, the tank ends this season. We just need to clutch the Shart and hold onto it for dear life for the next 30 or so days and the worst segment of this team's history will all be over.

You're always welcome to donate money directly to the education budget. I claimed single and zero on my withholdings all year and I'm getting a whopping $22 back from the state of North Carolina. My bi-weekly withholdings didn't really drop all that much from the previous year either.

I probably only watch about 25% of games at this point but even when I'm watching something else on Netflix, hulu, or the dvr I do pull up the NHL app on my phone and keep track of the scores. While I'm fully on board with tanking, I don't think I could have watched every game this season unless it was part of my job and I was collecting a paycheck to do it. Cancelling Center Ice before the season started played a big part as well I'm sure. In seasons past I never missed more than a couple of games each season and it was usually due to some sort of family obligation.

I have Sprint and their signal is pretty much dog outside of the city limits for most towns. I got a AIRAVE Signal Booster from them though that boosts my signal from 0-2 bars to full signal and it works for all phones on a Sprint plan up to something like 1,000 feet from the unit. They gave it to me for free when I initially went in to cancel my plan and it only costs $5 per month added onto the bill. I got my first one when I moved to my current home back in 2009 and every now and then then send me a new one once the one I have can no longer handle whatever software or firmware updates that go through the system. I'd definitely look into it if you plan on keeping Sprint.

These re-designs are nice and all, but they are missing the cape and the random splotches of gray fabric on the cuffs and armpits.

23-man roster predictions for 2015-16 season
Drunkard replied to PalmTreeMafia's topic in The Aud Club
I'd be fine with bringing back either Enroth or Neuvirth. Neuvirth has better stats but has also been showing to have a greater risk of injury. In the end I'd be ok with Either but would favor Neuvirth slightly. Either way I hope we bring one of them back (not both) so we can give our younger goalies in the system a chance to move up and earn a backup role sooner rather than later. -
Free Agents this summer, who should Sabres pursue and why.
Drunkard replied to North Buffalo's topic in The Aud Club
While an upgrade to our defense would help, I honestly don't think it should be a priority (I'd rather focus on trading/signing an upgrade at RW and our situation in net. The right side should be set with Bogosian, Ristolainen, and Psysk and the left side should be ok with Gorges, Zadorov, and Weber. Factor in that we have McCabe being able to spend another year in Rochester but who could be called up whenever needed and I think all we really need is JAG who can fill in if there's an injury.- 164 replies

Currently 71F with an expect high of 78F and a low of 63F. Tomorrow it's a high of 65F with a low of 29F and precipitation expected. Not sure if the rain/snow will come when it's in the 60's or 20's though. Hopefully when it's in the 20's so they can shut the base down and I get some free paid administrative leave. Friday is expected to be a high of 35F with a low of 25F so with any luck we could get out early on Thursday and miss Friday all together. The biggest perk of living in a region that doesn't have a bunch of snow plows is things getting shut down when the roads get bad.

I don't like this trade but RB's age quickly in this league and Alonso was a cost controlled assets for 2 more seasons as well as our best linebacker as a rookie two years ago, but nothing to do at this point but wait and see how it pans out. Whaley definitely seems to have a bit of his own zero given swagger to him though, that's for sure.

Phoenix isn't going to be winning much period. Looking at their upcoming schedule they will host Anaheim, Vancouver, Montreal, Nashville, and Chicago. Outside of possibly Vancouver that's a murderers row type of lineup to be facing. I think we should start Vinz.

He's gone until July 1st. There's usually a log jam of deals that get made right at the deadline so it usually takes a while for them to be processed/announced.

After seeing this and the one from the other Chad Johnson, I'll take the wide receiver.

Our last game was a loss though so it would count towards the 20.

TRADE: Sabres send Brian Flynn to Montreal for a 5th

Flynn helped derail our post deadline tank in 2013 so I'm happy to see him moved. Good luck to him in Montreal. -
23-man roster predictions for 2015-16 season
Drunkard replied to PalmTreeMafia's topic in The Aud Club
I have no interest in giving up valuable assets plus $7+ million per season for O'Reilly at this point. - He doesn't generate enough offense to warrant the salary it would take to extend him - The amount of assets we'd have to give up would be substantial - He's a left handed shot and plays left wing when he isn't playing center and we are much more stocked up on the left side than the right side Given all of that the only way I'd be interested in trading for him would be if we end up winning too many games to draft McDavid or Eichel. -

I'm definitely happy with the rebuild/tank so far. The expected roster we could be icing in a couple of years has the potential to be awesome. 2 supremely talented, hard working centers in McEichel and Reinhart surrounded by big, talented forwards who skate, hit, and are willing to drop the gloves and even the guys who don't have the ideal size like Ennis seems to have a tenacity and take no attitude to go along with their skill and speed. Still a ways to go because I definitely like the direction the expected roster is going in. I just hope we can finish off the plan with a 30th place finish and finally start the long climb upwards in the standings. -

Drunkard replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
I think we are just bantering about semantics at this point. I know rebuilding is not the same as tanking but (to me at least) rebuilding to the extent that we did is completely synonymous with tanking. I think the tank plan started with trading away Pominville because he wasn't even a pending UFA and based on everything I've ever read, seen, or heard about the guy didn't lend me to believe we would've had a hard time re-signing him. The fact that we didn't attempt to replace him with any type of comparable talent solidifies the goal of finishing poorly in the standings and encouraged guys like Miller, Vanek, and Ott to follow suit. They saw the team didn't do anything to improve in the short term in that offseason and knew it was only a matter of time until they punched their own ticket out of town. Most rebuilds involve moving out older veterans players for future assets but they balance it out by bringing in other decent players to stop the bleeding. We willingly bled out the majority of our talent and brought in considerably less talent with the idea that suffering would happen in the short term. Trading Pominville was definitely a tank move in my opinion even if it was of the too little, too late variety for that particular season. The next year they finished the job and picked the rest of the meat off the bones of the rotting carcass that's been the Buffalo Sabres. -

I think it may have been Swamp, but that's just an educated guess. Either way, sorry for the confusion.
