Exactly. This board would also get incredibly boring if everyone took the bright and sunny approach to viewing every decision in the best possible light. Disseting opinion and people justifying their views on various situations are part of what makes this board great.

A full NMC sucks. That's the problem with not having any leverage. If we do end up needing to trade him in a few years he'll have total control which would severely limit the return we'd get back for him. Edit: Hopefully it's a reporting error and there isn't one in place. You'd think the guaranteed bonus structure protecting him from buyouts would be sufficient.

Glad it was under the $8 million average I was expecting and I'm also happy his contract is front loaded within the CBA guidelines. Earning just $6 million in each of the last 4 years should make his contract more attractive to budget teams should we ever have to move him in the future when we no longer need him to play center in the top 6 because Eichel and Reinhart grow into those positions.

I went with: Moulson O'Reilly Reinhart Kane Eichel Ennis Foligno Girgensons Gionta Deslauriers Larsson McGinn Gorges Ristolainen McCabe Bogosian Weber Pysyk Lehner

Some of us cared and cared quite a bit. His upcoming contract is one of the reasons I didn't want him to begin with because he's going to get top line center money and within a year or two he won't be playing top line center. I just hope he signs for less than $8 million per year at this point.

UPDATE: Buyout — Roster review: #19 Cody Hodgson
Drunkard replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
Yep. For some ridiculous reason people still want to believe he purposely sucked just so he could lose 2/3 of the money he was basically guaranteed, plus it will take him twice as many years to receive the 1/3 he'll still get. Plus he'll likely be offered a much smaller contract by any team willing to sign him, if a team is willing to take a chance on him. If not he's either done with hockey or will have to pick up his life and move half way across the world to play in Europe for peanuts. Makes perfect sense, doesn't it? -
It makes more sense to break Reinhart in at Right Wing than it does to put yet another lefty out of position at right wing. With the addition of O'Reilly for the top 6 to go along with Eichel I'd rather see Reinhart playing wing than centering the 3rd line. Kane O'Reilly Reinhart Moulson Eichel Ennis or Moulson O'Reilly Reinhart Kane Eichel Ennis I guess you could put Girgensons in for Moulson too if you prefer, bump Moulson down to the 3rd line and have Larsson centering him and Gionta. All kinds of possibilities.

I just finished Orange is the New Black as well and was disappointed. The director is Jenji Kohan who also directed the US version of Weeds. That show started off awesome as well before jumping the shark after a couple of seasons so I guess that seems to be her MO.

I don't even know what 4k is. Is it like the equivalent of Blu-Ray quality on the streaming side? I know on the disc side they have different prices for bluray vs regular dvds and different prices for the number of discs you can rent at one time. If that is the case and the price difference isn't too much, you might as well give it a shot, but the higher resolution will require streaming more data so make sure your wifi bandwidth is sufficient.

I Don't Know How Anyone Could Be upset With The Moves
Drunkard replied to CallawaySabres's topic in The Aud Club
I agree and I'm looking forward to the upcoming season and I should probably not get so wound up about where people are being slotted. The righty/lefty thing is a bit of a focus for me and I probably need to let it go somewhat. Centers were so hard for us to come by in recent years and now we've gone from none to chock full of talented ones with plenty to spare. Better days are definitely ahead and the two years of abysmal play that landed us Eichel and Reinhart are officially in the review mirror. -

Yeah, sorry about the sarcasm. I'm not trying to be an and personally I'm hoping you guys might be able to change my mind because it would be much more fun to be excited about the trade like almost everyone else seems to be. If you look at my posting history I've never been a contrarian/troll/or anything like that by design. I have my opinions and sometimes they agree with the general consensus and sometimes they don't. I understand the appeal of O'Reilly and I understand the benefits of having guys who have the ability to play center on the wings. I would have loved to have a guy like O'Reilly at any time since 7/1/07 when we've been painfully short of centers. The problem is timing. We needed him (or a player like him) years ago way more than we need him now and a few years from now we're going to need him even less once Eichel and Reinhart get some seasoning. If Girgensons and Ennis are in your top 6 then you've already got a backup center for both scoring lines. Larsson is capable of playing center as well and can be the backup center for any of the bottom 9 lines as well. O'Reilly makes this team better without a doubt, but I wouldn't have gone after him due to the cost of the trade (still hate losing Zadorov) and the expected contract he'll be signing. -
I think O'Reilly is becoming my new Smehlik because I get the impression that people think he can walk on water. Kaleta will remain my Snuggerud until he's officially gone and then I'll probably move on to Deslauriers.

Awesome. It's a good thing we've finally filled the giant void we have at LW. I was getting worried with only Kane, Moulson, Foligno, and Deslauriers slotted to play there and only Ennis, Girgensons, and Larsson being able to fill in there in a pinch. Now I can rest easy. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. I see the value in O'Reilly now and for the next year or two but not really after that point. It's great to be overloaded with quality guys but not when you are paying them a premium and O'Reilly will be paid a premium to be out of position due to Eichel and Reinhart. Square peg meet round hole. It doesn't fit and the assets foregone to have him would be better spent elsewhere. That's just my opinion on it. Good points on all sides though, but I still don't like the trade. Hopefully I'll be proven wrong though. -

I've read a lot of Avalanche boards and I imagine they've watched him more than any of us. They seem happy with the return, glad to be rid of the headache, and glad extending him is somebody else's problem. He doesn't project as a top line center for them because of MacKinnon and Duchene. Unfortunately he won't project as a top line center for us either after a few years because of Eichel and Reinhart. Who knows though. Maybe in a few years when Eichel and Reinhart are ready we can trade him to Toronto so he can be their #1 center. -

I'm worried about paying Moulson $5 million or O'Reilly $7 + million to play on our 3rd line. Yes, Ovechkin plays on his off hand but he's one of the best players in the world. Mr. 1 season of 20 goals isn't and may not be as effective playing on his offhand and if it doesn't work out you don't want to overpay people to play out of position. -

Makes sense but I still disagree that O'Reilly will wind up being worth it, given what we gave up to get him and the price of his next contract, especially when you consider the players we already have at center and left wing. Sheltering Reinhart and Eichel for a couple of seasons is a great idea but after they prove to belong as a 1st and 2nd line center then what? Do we jettison Kane or Moulson to give O'Reilly their spot? Does O'Reilly play out of place at Right Wing as a left handed shot the way Ennis does and Girgensons might because Murray seems to have a b0ner for southpaw forwards? Are one of our 2nd overall pick stud centers going to have to play out of position at Right Wing for their entire ELCs and possibly longer? Seems like we're not going to get the full benefit of our assets that way and it would've been smarter to let somebody else overpay. -

I guess we'll soon find out. I just hope he signs long term for less than $8 million. If we pay $8 million or more for a guy who has one 20 goal season under his belt I think it's going to prove to be a giant mistake. It's not like he was playing with untalented teammates in Colorado so I wouldn't expect some large bump in production out of him. -

Drunkard replied to CallawaySabres's topic in The Aud Club
So Colorado didn't want to pay him big bucks because they have better players who were a higher priority or more important or whatever you want to call it. I can see that because Landeskog, Duchene, and MacKinnon are either already good or are expected to be really good. Aren't we in the same situation with the expected big contracts of Eichel, Reinhart, and Ristolainen on the horizon though? -

We'll have to wait and see if he signs an extension first and for how much. Colorado wouldn't have traded him to begin with if getting him to extend was as easy as everyone seems to assume it will be. He has ALL of the leverage at this point. -

Drunkard replied to CallawaySabres's topic in The Aud Club
Murray seems to have a pattern of paying whatever it takes to get the guy he's targeting. That's fine since we had previously been hoarding and stockpiling picks and prospects and because his predecessor seemed to have the exact opposite mindset. I don't have a problem with being the perceived loser in any trade if it allows him to get his guy(s) and build the team. I thought he overpaid for Lehner and I still do but I'm ok with that because he's young and under contract. I thought he overpaid by either Armia or Lemieux for Kane and Bogosian but again that's ok because he got his guys. I still think the O'Reilly trade was a mistake but nothing to do now but wait and see. Not happy about trading Zadorov because I pictured him and Ristolainen being our top pair D for the next decade but like everyone says you have to give to get and that seemed to be the price. I like O'Reilly as a player and it's great that he'll be able to shelter our young centers initially but I think he is incredibly over rated and the assets given up to get him and the cap space he'll take up would be better utilized in other areas. We just tanked to unbelievably proportions for 2 seasons to get our franchise centers. Now we are going to overpay a young established veteran to either take one of their spots or to play out of position. The move will be good for the next 2-3 years but once Eichel and Reinhart are ready then somebody has to move out of position to the wing or down to the 3rd line. At this point I just hope they can extend him for less than $8 million per year because he's definitely got the upper hand in negotiations at this point and if his agent tells him he can get $9+ million from Toronto next summer and he decides to pursue UFA the Sabres are fu%#ed with a splintered broom handle. The other part that bugs me is why add McGinn to it? We already have enough left handed wingers with Kane, Moulson, Ennis, Foligno, and Deslauriers with a strong possibility that Larsson and Girgensons could be shifted to wing because of our depth at center. If he was a throw in why couldn't Murrary get a right winger instead? Why not tell them to keep McGinn and we keep Compher instead? Legwand seems like a buyout candidate but I doubt McGinn is. I doubt we're going to be able to package 2 or 3 of these left handed forwards off for a left handed defensemen and if we do, they'd probably want the ones we'd prefer to keep and not our extra pieces. -
I agree. With his deal lasting only one more year they could put him in Rochester and eat most of the cap hit this season and be done with him. I'd rather see Cody McCormick or Larsson on our 4th line than Legwand.

Both are worth a watch but I thought Dumb and Dumber To was definitely better than the Hot Tub Time Machine sequel. That one was ok but no where near as good as the first one. Not sure if you've already seen then or not but if you're looking for good shows on Netflix I can recommend Dexter, the Following, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Trailer Park Boys, Bates Motel, and Wentworth all pretty highly. I'm sure there are some others but I'm at work and that site is blocked so I can't pull up my list or recently watched items.

I like Sekera or Ehrhoff personally. I guess I'm more of a go with the devil you know type guy. Also, I thought Ivan Putski was one of those guys who competed in the world's strongest man competitions on espn2 back in the day. The ones where they pull fire trucks and throw kegs around.
-
I'm gonna guess: Kane Eichel Ennis Moulson O'Reilly Reinhart McGinn Girgensons Gionta Deslauriers Larsson Foligno Kaleta Notes on forwards: Legwand to Rochester, Kaleta as 13th forward. Eichel starts right away at center with Reinhart breaking in on the wing next to everyone's new favorite toy. Foligno to 4th line and Larsson centers the 4th line. Defense: Gorges Bogosian FA/trade Ristolainen Weber Psysk Notes on defense: We sign or trade for a veteran defenseman. McCabe gets one more year in Rochester and is the first call up. Goalies: Lehner Johnson

Not happy about losing Zadorov at all but it's done with now. I just hope they d9n't overpay him in terms of his contract extension too.
