Yes. He's an RFA now so he is no longer on his ELC and he's played the required number of pro seasons. AHL counts. I would assume the European leagues count too but not Juniors and obviously NCAA players haven't signed their ELC's yet.

So we dump Gorges for scraps and put McCabe on the 3rd pair and expose him to the expansion draft at the end of the season? Seems like a waste of assets to me. I'd rather pick up one upgrade at LHD and slot Gorges on the second pair and McCabe on the 3rd pair then protect McCabe and expose Gorges to Vegas going into the final year of his deal.
-
So what happens if we get 2 LHD's. Do we just dump Gorges or McCabe for scraps before the season starts? Put them on waivers?

Yep. No messiah complex there. True humility I'm sure. What a swell guy. Salt of the earth. They should burn down a soup kitchen, animal shelter, or orphanage in order to free up the space to build a shrine in his honor. I probably spoiled the next 30 for 30 series. Yes, sir. It was after watching that special that I truly realized that I'm not doing enough with my hate. Passively wishing ill and harm on those I hate instead of actively doing something stop them all. At least if I believed in God I could pray for it, but prayer isn't really a useful option as an atheist. Maybe I should trying praying to the pagan Gods to smite my enemies, but I think Odin would probably perceive that as weakness and come after me instead in true Viking fashion.

Unfortunately since I don't have super powers it doesn't really matter whether I mean it or not (hint: I do). My level of hate for him doesn't quite reach the level of Louis CK's hatred of deer from the chewed up special, but it's close.

Yes, the bouncy ball messiah came back to the scorned land that is the other mistake by the lake and he so lead his people into the promised land like Moses or some other such nonsense. Excuse me for not bowing my head in deference to that preening prima donna. Either way, you don't get to decide for me what is relevant and what isn't. I said tumor at the base of his spine. I spoke nothing of his junk. Now I think the funnier outcome would be for the trophy to get trace amounts of flesh eating bacteria on it (it is Cleveland after all) and we find out later that it spread to his colon from him shoving it up there good and deep. You know, because a giant ###### like that should probably have an ###### big enough to fit the trophy up there.

It all stems from that Decision nonsense and all the press/media from it. Don't worry there's still plenty of hate to go around for the likes of Tom Brady, Bill Belichick, Vince Wilfork, Milan Lucic, Brad Marchand, Zdeno Chara, or whomever you deem it's ok for me to use it on. I hate his guts. You don't. It happens. Yes it does. To the nth degree in fact. It's a simple formula. There's a ton of Cleveland fans but my feelings on them are basically neutral where my feelings on the bouncy ball messiah are completely negative so that tips the scales overall to negative.
-
You're right. That's too easy on him. I hope that tumor also gets super aids or some sort of flesh eating virus. Thanks, Dark. I've seen the error of my ways.

I don't think Edmonton would have any interest in McCabe. They are more overloaded on the left side than we are on the right side and they're as desperate for help on the right side as we are on the left side. If we swing a deal with them it should involve a RHD from us for a LHD from them. If we wanted Eberle it's going to cost Bogosian or Psysk plus whatever amount added.

Well, I hope all you Cleveland sympathizers are happy. That attention Lebron is going to have even more of a messiah complex now. Didn't watch a single minute of it but the google app on my phone felt the need to inform me of his victory (not Cleveland's it specifically said Lebron won it). To steal a quote from George Carlin though maybe he'll get an inoperable tumor at the base of his spine. I'll hope for that.

But the Sabres got Ville Leino!

It makes the 41 have equal power to the 59 but not necessarily more. The 41 can't pass anything without the 59 agreeing either. That's why Congress gets so little done these days.

Because you need 60 votes in the Senate to override a filibuster. The sad thing is now they just have to threaten filibuster they don't even have to actually stand there and talk for hours on end until the session closes.

Gionta will be a UFA by the end of next season. We'd never waste a spot protecting him.
-
Definitely. Hopefully the cap remaining flat keeps cap space at a premium and we can take advantage of teams in the same way.

If we get a serious upgrade at LHD (say we trade for Fowler or sign Yandle or Goligoski) then what are the chances that we opt to protect 8 skaters and a goalie instead. I may be tempted to. Yandle (or other LHD upgrade) Ristolainen McCabe Bogosian O'Reilly Kane Girgensons one of Ennis/Larsson/Foligno/Psysk/Carrier/or someone else

That's kind of up. Isn't an NHL roster something like 25 guys? If they take 30 guys that could theoretically mean that a handful of guys go from NHL rosters to AHL ones despite league expansion. I imagine the Vegas team will probably take a couple of AHL guys who exceed the 2 years pro rule from teams but there's still the potential for it to happen.
-
Oh I agree. I'd rather try to improve the team than stand pat, I was just wondering if it will have any impact on the Sabres or on other teams around the league. In another thread it was being discussed how some of the lower tiered vets may be given 2 year deals instead of 1 year ones in order to have the required players to expose to the expansion draft (like if we sign Legwand to a 2 year deal then he and Moulson can be our 2 exposed forwards). Luckily we can only lose 1 player anyway. On a side note, do you think Psysk gets moved for a LHD? I believe you posted the hypothetical trade with Edmonton of Psysk and 8 for Davidson and 4 theoretical trade a while back. I'd definitely be on board with a move like that.
-
With the new Vegas team pretty much set in stone now does that affect the chances of us pursuing additional upgrades this season due to the possibility of losing them to the expansion draft? We're lucky in the fact that 2 of our best players are exempt but doesn't adding a LHD force us to expose both Psysk and Bogosian to Vegas or else going the 8 skaters route and exposing even more forwards?

Was this before or after his crusades comment?

I will be pissed if we trade away Reinhart, even for a good player like Taylor Hall. Partially because we tanked to get him and partially because I believe I'm still suffering from the PTSD of being so devoid of centers that multiple years of tanking were necessary in the first place. Right now we are set with centers but if we traded Reinhart we'd only be one Eichel or O'Reilly injury away from having to put somebody like Larsson or Girgensons at center in the top 6. I have no interest in that. Having Reinhart at wing and as a potential top 6 center in case of injury is not something we should be looking to part with in order to get a slightly more productive winger that can't switch to center if needed. F that noise.

Still not on the same level by any stretch. You're always going to have individuals who commits crimes and do up things. In many countries of muslim faith though it's allowed and encouraged by the government, police, and/or court system. A completely different ball of wax than people who are breaking the existing laws to commit crimes against people they hate.
-
You can compare them all you want but it doesn't make them equal by any stretch of the imagination. There are extremely big differences between the two. Both faiths may despise homosexuality but one place uses family/societal pressure to get people to voluntarily agree to send you to some bible camp where they try to pray the gay away or whatever nonsense like trying to dictate which bathroom they can use. The other one imprisons the person against their will and possibly executes them. While both still deserve chastisement it's ridiculous to equate the two on any serious level.
-
I'll agree with this too. College campuses are becoming over sanitized to ridiculous levels. Somebody needs to sit these whiners down and relay to them that you don't have the right to not be offended. Or they can just steal a page from PCU and throw raw hamburger on their vegan rallies.
-
In all fairness to the right, the two can't really be compared on the same level though and it's inaccurate to make a false equivalency between the two. People of the muslim faith in many Arab/Muslim countries go way farther in their prejudice and/or persecution of homosexuals and women that traditional Christian nations don't and haven't for decades or even centuries. I don't know of any non-muslim countries that even consider homosexuality a punishable crime, let alone one that is worthy of a death sentence. Keeping women in beekeeper type suits and not allowing them access to education or the ability to drive a car or even leave the house without a male escort is some misogynistic that is only allowed because of the religion excuse. While the Christian right does what it can to oppress non believers based on it's own book of bad ideas their desires for the most part get voted down and for the most part people are able to ignore the non-sense. The ability to oppress and push a religious agenda goes so much farther in the parts of the world beholden to the muslim faith than it does with or anywhere else where Christianity is the predominant faith.
