  1. Gonna miss Tage in OT
  2. I tool that to be code for gripping the stick a little too hard because he was overly focused on the stakes, as opposed to just playing his game and letting the chips fall as they may.
  3. Nothing like the CCP approach to crowd control.
  4. I'm offended that you're offended that K-9 is offended
  5. Looking for a solid college FA to sign this off-season? Livingstone, I presume.
  6. I clicked on this topic thinking it must refer to the Kings having some crazy theory like McDavid is an alien planted in the NHL by the Canadian government. I was pleasantly surprised to see that you literally meant their helmets look like tin foil.
  7. The relationship between the team and athlete vis-a-vis contract, collective bargaining, or historical precedent is no different than any other employee-employer relationship. To your point, if the NHL or a team wants to remove this sort of distraction, or at least have a clear playbook on how to handle it, they can take steps to address it in the offseason or when contracts are signed or when the next union agreement is negotiated. It seems very ad hoc at the moment. It may not be worth negotiating for something like this for most NHL teams. I guess I don't agree with the public nature of a statement making it political. But perhaps the differentiation is irrelevant these days. I don't see how anyone could reasonably give a rat's ass what the Staal's (for example) personal ethical beliefs are so long as they aren't impinging on anyone else's freedoms. In fact, they went out of their way to make that exact point of not denying anyone else's rights. I put it in the same category as finding out their opinions on the Fed's interest rate hikes or US trade policy in Asia. They're just hockey players, so who cares? Now, their opinion on 3-on-3 OT? That's relevant.
  8. At some point I lost my worn-out Iron Maiden "The Number of the Beast" cassette, 30-35 years ago, and only now replaced it with the remastered CD version. Listening to it this morning, I am astounded with how good it sounds and how well the music has aged. Just excellent.
  9. Is it a political statement or an ethics statement? To the best of my knowledge, LGBTQ is not a political party nor even associated with one, rather it's a collection of folks with a particular sexual/gender identity, who hold a wide range of political views themselves. Some people feel that the 'lifestyle' (for lack of a better term) of the LGBTQ group(s) is at odds with their ethical beliefs. For them, I think it's more a question of living in alignment with their beliefs than a political statement. For example, looking at the statement made by the Staal brothers they tried to make it quite clear that 'politically' they support people's right to live their life as they see fit and they welcome everyone to the game of hockey. Whereas 'personally' their belief system is at odds with what they believe the jerseys' are representing. I may not agree with the Staal brothers code of ethics, or even their interpretation that wearing the jerseys is at odds with their code of ethics, but I want to live in a country where they are free to follow their beliefs so long as they don't harm others in the process. I think it's a stretch to say that not wearing the warm-up jerseys represents a harm to anyone.
  10. Yes, but in the third period it’s the final 3 minutes, not 30 seconds
  11. Thompson is our best basketball player Skinner is our best ice dancer Bryson excels at hacky sack
  12. Took a nap through the first period to sustain me through period 2 and beyond. If Varlomov and Comrie were swapped out between these two teams, their positions in the standings might be reversed. I won’t even speculate on Sabres having a Sorokin….
  13. The squad from NJ to UPL tonight: Pleased to meet you Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah But what's confusing you Is just the nature of my game
  14. I gave tickets for this game as a birthday gift to two of my adult children, purchased after the win vs. Washington. I have apologized to both of them this week and asked them to set expectations appropriately. I told them I would watch at least some of it as penance for the sin of doing this to my kids.
  15. This is so Japanese. I love it.
  16. I don't disagree at all with your point, but we can also include Tuch with 66 post season games in his NHL career including a Cup finals.
  17. Good luck to the brave souls who decide to watch this one.
  18. Took my kids to a Sabres-Bruins game a few years ago and it felt similar, but I think you had it worse. Told myself I wouldn’t do that again, then I got two of my kids tickets to games for their birthdays when I thought the team would at least give a good effort, now I think I’ve set them up for a lousy experience again (Vs NJ and Carolina no less…two teams likely to crush them)
  19. When Makar is healthy, in my opinion he's the best D in the NHL and it's not really close. Not quite the McDavid vs. everyone else gap, but it's significant. Given the relative trajectories this season, even with 13 games missed due to injury Makar will surely finish ahead of Dahlin in the voting. Avs defense is so deep Makar is never saddled with a Bryson or Clague. It pisses me off how Granato has handled the situation.
  20. Turning it off. Would rather listen to music than watch this sh*tshow.
  21. Bruins play well at home, and the Sabres do not, so one could argue both factors are in play today.
  22. Have you ever done anything with the federal government? Nothing is done in 90 seconds, or 90 minutes….
  23. Sent you a message on this
