  1. I was there on Friday when Game 5 was played. Walked over to T-Mobile during the second period. They have a huge screen on the side of the arena showing the game live and another smaller but better screen as well. Frankly there weren't too many people out there watching, maybe in the 50-100 range and a third of them were Oilers fans. However as you walk away from T-Mobile towards the strip there is a massive sports bar that looks like a great place to watch the game. What was interesting was the feed next to the arena was truly 'live' and when Vegas scores they play the horn outside the arena. However at the sports bar it's a 30-40 second delay so people cheer when they hear the horn, then they watch for a while in anticipation and cheer again when they see how Vegas scored. BTW a single ticket on resale (Ticketmaster) before the game was generally down to $185-$195 including all fees. This is for the upper deck of course. There are cheaper ways in as well but standing room only and some cases limited or no view.
  2. For many years Jones worked next to Brian Engblom on Versus/NBC. Is the resemblance here not remarkable?
  3. As a Sabres fan, I love this move for Philadelphia. Keith Jones trying to understand the salary cap:
  4. Eichel with two apples in the first period. Screw Vegas
  5. Happy for Reino and screw Toronto
  6. Buffalo is in Buffalo’s situation whereas Carolina consistently puts a competitive team on the ice. I can only imagine that Toronto, Boston, and Montreal fans think the same thing about the games they see televised from Buffalo.
  7. Carolina was second in the league in home attendance during the regular season, trailing only Montreal. 99.6% of seats filled. Florida filled 86.7% of their capacity this year. By comparison, Buffalo was at 81.6% of capacity. I love the Sabres, but I’m not seeing the case for casting aspersions on the quality of other teams fan bases these days in comparison to Buffalo. (And I do believe it will build back in Buffalo over the next couple years…)
  8. I'd take that and pair him with Power, bump Joki down to 3rd pairing.
  9. Terry recorded a message for the prayer service, and Kim's father was there. No family drama that I can discern.
  10. It’s been noted that several former Sabres are having nice playoffs but Zac Dalpe scoring is over the top.
  11. Sorry if my comment was unclear. Miller has had two very good years in his age 29 and 30 seasons, but prior to that did not have a career that screamed "$8M/year center". So when I think about 7 more years of JT Miller at 8M/year, for his age 31-37 year old seasons, I could see the final 2-3 seasons not being very good deals for the Canucks, and making him very difficult to unload if desired. Tage Thompson is signed over the same 7 years but at $860k less per season, and those will be his age 26-32 year old seasons. Thompson is already a more explosive goal scorer and almost as accomplished playmaker as Miller. Dylan Cozens is signed for those same 7 years, at $900k/year less than Miller, and those will be his age 23-29 year old seasons. His breakout season at age 22 with two rookies on his wing is almost as good as Miller's likely career best seasons at age 29 & 30. So...to the extent Miller has a reasonable NHL contract for a player of his caliber and age, the comparison with Thompson and Cozens makes clear what outrageously good contracts those are for the Sabres. Hence, as a Sabres fan, I can only chuckle in delight.
  12. I realize he's left handed, but Samuel Girard would be OK with me. Fits the salary cap, term, and age window quite well. He's #4 in Colorado and would be a great #4 in Buffalo too. You have to just chuckle when looking at JT Miller's contract compared to Cozens and Thompson.
  13. My hope is that we sign Compher, who is a Compher type player already.
  14. Excited to see if Greenway can get his first assist as a Sabre.
  15. Maybe we can get him back in Rochester!
  16. Classy move by the Sens
  17. No back to back's in playoffs.
