  1. After sitting through 120 minutes of in person Sabres games last week where they scored 1 meaningless goal, I have to say that seeing them score 30 seconds in leaves me a little bitter.
  2. This explains a lot. They lost tonight because their best players didn’t make a difference. Thompson first and foremost but I’d throw Dahlin and Tuch in as well.
  3. Game over (effectively). Sabres seem visibly afraid of putting pucks on net. It’s infuriating.
  4. It doesn’t get any more Sabresy than that whole sequence.
  5. Sabrespace meetup alert…impromptu version! Just got to meet @klos1963 here in Tempe. Let’s go Buffalo!
  6. It’s a very nice college arena. 25% Sabres fans I’d guess but will revise the estimate later. if I can figure out how to post a picture small enough in size to work I’ll do so!
  7. Checking in from Mullet Arena…let’s go Buffalo!
  8. All that physical play must be scary for Power.
  9. Yeah, I guess in the abstract Casey is going to be worth more than $4M/season after this year, especially given the increase in the cap. I guess it's just that the two guys I mentioned, while not as skilled as Casey, are difficult to play against and play defense, win face-offs (at least Sissons), etc. The Sabres have none of those type of guys so maybe I was just projecting.
  10. I don't really have time to do any research on this but in my mind he's somewhere between Colton Sissons and Sam Bennett (not exactly the same type of player but that ballpark. So maybe $4M/year is fair?
  11. He's an RFA at the end of the season. I'm good with seeing how this year goes and then making a decision on how much value he brings vs. possibly trading him. No need to extend him now unless the team can work out a great deal that values him as an average 3rd line center, which is what I think he probably is. I considered other words instead of mediocrity but perhaps the core group is there and the team as a whole is worse due to lack of depth and goaltending. Regardless, I don't disagree.
  12. For my own mental health I’m letting go of my love for the team over time. Being at last night’s game and seeing their body language and lack of effort or a plan was another motivation to let go even more. I’m committed to going to the game in Phoenix on Saturday but otherwise am back to a policy of never spending money on this team again until they become legitimate. Last year suckered me back in on that front.
  13. I wouldn’t over-invest in anyone on this roster until they accomplish something tangible like like making the playoffs. They are locking in a core of mediocrity right now.
  14. Just got home from the game. I really dislike this team. At this point it’s not even like they are on a path where you can imagine them being a playoff team next season. Granato has to go.
  15. Here in Ball Arena, wearing my Hasek jersey…just embarrassed.
  16. I'll be there in the company box. Had previously purchased tickets on my own when I didn't know if I'd get the box seats but was able to sell them afterward to a buddy from Buffalo area who also lives out here. Last year UPL played great in Denver holding down the fort in a ridiculous third period where the Avs outshot the Sabres something like 20-3 until an empty netter sealed it. I wouldn't mind seeing Levi tonight but if UPL is ready he should probably start and then they come back with Levi on Friday in Vegas and UPL on Saturday in the desert.
  17. Look and listen to that crowd! I miss seeing that in Buffalo.
  18. I'll be there too...and the Avs game on Wednesday!
  19. How could one tell if he was concussed vs his normal cognitive function?
  20. Sabres without a Powerplay opportunity tonight and leading 4-1. Coincidence? I think not.
  21. Arizona at Buffalo on a Monday night? The atmosphere at the arena must be electric.
  22. And yet, despite being the worst forward on the team (I'm excluding fringe guys like Robinson), Granato will never sit Okposo.
