Make sure to tape a sponge or a shoe to your face, improperly wear gloves and act like you're more important than everyone else! ?

I'm not against the social distancing aspect of it, I get it, my personal opinion is that is a bit overkill, but I can certainly live with it; in the face of this being touted as a true pandemic. Even in the beginning I was able to somewhat try and let the pressure valve release because it was such a culture shock. Sadly, 37 days into it, I drew the line a couple of days ago mentally for me. I have been actively avoiding news of it, other than what I need to know for my job (no avoiding it in that sense). And catching small bits of the news in the hotel lobby when I stay in town. I'm trying to find the positives of it all, exercising has helped a bit with the stress. In about 2 months when this is over and patients are coming into the hospital treating medical staff like dogsh!t like this never happened, that might be when my despair flares up again..... We won't be "heroes" then

What is your favorite flavor and type of potato chip?

That sounds unique, it's such a great seasoning, viva Quebec! -

Say cello to my viola? ?

The constant reminder of death tolls, and not of recovery rates is all I need to see to know that this is fear mongering in the highest regard.

I was probably looking for porn and was drunk and viola ?

I got a marble run puzzle as a gift, looks cool, it'll take me some time to piece together, looking forward to sitting in the sun room and playing mad scientist once my work stretch is over.

Last evening was a large dose of this in particular, right down to the listing of Google symptoms in order, the news symptoms that are broadcast, loss of taste and etc. Again, there is almost no social distancing to be seen near where I live, sadly if the peak is going to come, it will be soon here and we again are not doing our collective parts. I just disabled any and all of my social media accounts (I don't use them often, but a break is needed). I can't help but pass by a TV in the break room and see a death count ticker in real time.... That's a bit uncalled for. Don't get me wrong, there are some glimmers of humanity out there, and I appreciate the accolades and support we have been given in light of recent events, I just need to find my own mental balance and I'm having a harder time with it than I would like to admit.

I'm sure there are plenty of things to find, maybe some positives or not reporting every death and stirring up the masses.

Man, that was the worst dinner I may have ever paid for ? we shoulda stuck with that BBQ place lol. I just wish the media hype would die down a bit, it's unnecessary fueling the chaos.

Yesterday all I did was wear the Papper with face shield and the other PPE, a reusable gown I have to wipe down after seeing patients. Unfortunatley the small hospital I was at yesterday doesn't have the "tent" that we use at the slightly bigger facilities. It's similar to what you mentioned above. The one patient I had, had a clogged Trach, so working under any hood would have made it difficult At OGH for example, we are trying to have an intubation team that takes care of all the intubations so we are cross containing less and putting less at risk overall. Even for any nebulizer treatments, we have special pieces now that are in place for RT to use and we're trying to discourage Bipap as much as possible until we can find a way to do it a little safer, all aerosolized procedures take place in negative pressure rooms.

Nah its syphilis, you don't notice it for long periods of time until you do, and then, it's just bad.
-
Just intubated 2 patients in the same hour, both older, both presumed Covid patients, wont know for sure for a few days. Intubation and other aerosol procedures give the highest risk to all involved. This whole thing just sucks ? Fingers crossed we can start returning towards more "normal" by mid spring

Anyone familiar with the kon-tiki? Those guys were awesome, very little naval experience and sailed on a makeshift raft halfway around the world. I want to start kon-tiki part 2, who's with me?! It would certainly be a welcome distraction

Sadly I have to try and sleep today as I just got home from that pit of despair they call a care center. I don't hide my overall feelings and there are certainly some good people out there, some good people here on SS for that matter. This pandemic has just reinforced what I've seen prior. Greed, selfishness, idiocy, etc... We are not thriving. I may need to take a break, all media, internet, etc. Its difficult considering my current life position. Anywho, off to sleep, see y'all on the "bright" side

Damn, I'm over here seeing people every day and I'm sad I can't be quarantined away from the sheer stupidity that I see. If anything, we should learn from this that we need more school days per year for our kids so they don't grow up to be idiots. Critical thinking?... Nope, what's that.... Merica' All this virus has done is expose just how collectively dumb we are as a human population. Rant over

Average vent times around 5-6 days with good resolution, no? I signed a DNR/DNI about 6 years ago, maybe I should suspend it until this is over, I've been pondering it for a bit

I went there last week or the week before it was nice as it always is, a lot of the trails were closed for hiking and my favorite little diner in Mt Morris wasn't available (Brian's USA diner). But still a nice little cruise and walk-around.
