Very low scores indeed, based on what, I have no idea. But it also says peak of 4/7 which was 12 days ago. So if we have hit the peak and should theoretically be on the way down, I don't understand how we can be assigned a score considering Erie county was not hit very hard in the grand scheme of everything.

In NYC sure and maybe the other big cities, but where I'm at mostly, it's been pretty slow, actually slow to the point where they're losing a ton of money. The thing about reimbursements is that they lag 60 days as well so it may not hit home until summer. There are only like 30 confirmed cases in the main county I work, granted we test so little it's definitley more, but not bewildering numbers.

So anything new about this virus that is ruining the world in which we live. Can't get to the DMV, no traveling, hospitals either over filling or on brink of furloughs, let's keep the politics away from here.

I know when I treat patient that work there, a doctor note doesn't do anything for them, they get "points" regardless of the cause for missing time, I always found that strange. I'm unfamiliar with how they are to employees otherwise.

I was at Wal mart earlier in Cheektowaga, I needed molasses for a recipe, the place is terrible and busy (also there is A drive up Covid testing area in the front, that was a madhouse) I see no molasses on the shelf, empty where the price tag says it should be, ok, I go up to the employee/associate and ask if there are any left in the back.... She looks at me blankly, and in nice English say "I can't speak English" I get that not everyone will be a scholar, or have even the best English, but if you're employed by a big store such as Wal mart and have an employee working on the floor, don't you think they would speak English?? This isn't the poor girl's fault, she needs a Job, but it just caught me way off guard.

Add a homeade Pina colada and that was my afternoon ❄️?

Theory is that this acts more like a lung that is injured by altitude sickness moreso than a viral pneumonia, this is why we're finding that intubation really shouldn't be a first or even 2nd option as the increased Peep (positive pressure) from the ventilator may actually be damaging lungs further, rather than helping. These drugs works in all different ways, they alkalize blood and allow for better oxygenation of the blood cells (plus many other responses, anti inflammatory possibly, etc) We're starting to get into the realm of now just grabbing things and trying them, I would have to imagine the success of these is very limited. When it comes to the science/patho/medicine of the disease process itself, it's very muddy, ever changing. We have a solid viral base, but that's about it.

I won't be getting any either, and if I did chances are high that I would find a way to wire it to my cause in Africa.

I was up in the andirondacks all week, just got home....hiked prospect mountain and into Hadley, Lake George and Placid were ghost towns, it was eerie. And in Keene, the general store made sandwiches and bakery goods where you called from your car and the put them on an outdoor table. You could only get your food once the store keeper went back inside and there was no on else outside. Strange times. My little trip was, not what I expected, from both a social standpoint and from the copious amounts of wind and snow that were encountered.

Its not "manly" but I enjoy a good hard seltzer, especially sitting in the hot tub with one.

I'm not sure Covid was necessary to bring that out....

It's appearing more and more that my trip in late may will need to be cancelled, this stupid virus can go away any time now. I should be scuba diving with some sharks at this moment ?

I'm actually surprised that in all of this chaos, that no one from the leadership level put out a piece on the news or something regarding mask etiquette and etc. People are hawking the news stations, so it seems it would be rather easy. I'd do it for free
-
Ah gotcha, that makes sense. As far as masks, bandanas/cloth are OK and the combination of 2 people wearing something actually significantly decrease chance of transmission.... Even N95 aren't 100% and if they fit/worn wrong are actually not that protective. It's true the point of most masks is to keep your stuff out of the general publics stuff. I still see a ton of people in their cars alone driving with a mask on, must be really uncomfortable
-
New York now just said that if going in a public place where you can't social distance you are mandated to wear a mask (I heard this from a friend, so idk the specifics) but, shouldn't this have been a thing from the start, seems weird that the timing comes after NYS is on the "downtrend" I feel the people making these calls just simply don't have a clue, can't wrap my head around decisions simply from a common sense standpoint.

I think that's actually quite appropriate, it's easy to use, doesn't hurt supply for those in Healthcare and serves a basic purpose....plus people look a lot less stupid with a bandana on their face than an inappropriately worn medical grade mask.
-
If I see someone wearing a general surgeon mask wrong I chuckle.... I get very annoyed when I see the general public wear an N95 mask to begin with, when I see it improperly worn then it bothers me.... Those should be in our hospitals..... But instead we get bs lip service of being "heroes" while still getting treated like ***** by the general population

People suck, I am up in the andirondacks and this morning there was an older gent walking into the Stewart shop with an 95 mask on, but he had the straps all jacked up, the mask was basically useless. I offered to help him fix it, I even alluded to the fact that I'm in health care and he was just a ride @ss. He said he knows what he's doing and he doesn't need people correcting or critiquing him..... I hope he gets it.... I'm serious.

So Jbot did another thing that sucks.....color me shocked.

Covid saved you from melanoma ?? that's all the optimism I got. Hopefully this thing will slow down enough to allow a semblance of normalcy soon!

Canadian ballet, eh?

I have fairly high confidence that once infected, even mildly, that you have a very good amount of immunity, 99% and up..... It's simple immunity and pathophysiology and follows similar science to other viruses of this class. This is just gut speak..... Now onto the point of length of immunity and if you can still transmit, those are definitley questions that we need to find solid answers to as those are a bit more of an unknown. I think the incubation period is the real issue here, once you have clinical symptoms and those resolve, my best guess is that your chances of spreading the disease drop significantly. There are too many theories floating around out there, a lot of people want to play hero, some may be right, but many are just speculating.... Kinda like me ?

I felt something, a little bigger and harder than a toe....

I feel your pain, very hard!
