  1. I def don't need another jersey, but if China makes a cheap one, I'll probably buy 😂😂
  2. Of course, I always had a strong work ethic, I took that into the Navy with me. Somewhere in the last 5-10 years something changed, not sure if medicine did it, I still work hard and to the best of my abilities, but the days of bragging and one upping friends about working more hours per week are over lol. Not everyone has that ability and I understand that; maybe I've gone soft in my advanced age 😂
  3. I'll get it too most likely, I heard rumblings that medical personnel will be the first to get them.... We'll see about that. With travel and all it may end up being a new requirement. I honestly just want to get back down to Africa and unplug as soon as I can, but they're pretty strict with immunizations.
  4. The feeling like crap is a normal body response to most vaccines, I particularly get this prodrome of symptoms with most influenza shots each year. The rest is definitley concerning, we had a small discussion up thread about this, many employers/schools/etc may be able to not allow you to work or attend without getting one. This country is ripped in half and I don't see how this is going to go over well.
  5. To keep my job I will have to. If it wasn't forced on me, I still probably would though. I have been getting the flu shot yearly and when I'm of age I'll get the pneumonia vaccines. I do believe in vaccinations, especially seeing how the 3rd world is doing every year. I just want people to know the limitations of vaccinations is all. I hear so much that this is going to solve the issue and that just simply isn't the case.
  6. I think you'll see a fair amount of people that will absolutley not go near this.
  7. Work/life balance is important, it's more important than salary in most cases, I leave a bunch on the table to fulfill my life goals
  8. 20 medium duffs wings for the rights to Dylan Larkin
  9. Probably, this isn't going anywhere it's a new virus that we'll deal with, no biggie there.... Just getting over the hump now.
  10. I'll trade houses.... Along with the mortgage payments 😁
  11. Where I work they replaced all the lights with traffic circles, no idea why. Where I live, I need a snowmobile to get home
  12. I was being sarcastic, poorly so. We have a bunch of traffic circles in town and I swear that no one knows how to properly use them.
  13. You shouldn't be allowed to enter a traffic circle if your IQ is less than 50
  14. This is a form of social media 😎, about the only one I have. My life has gotten significantly better since deleting any other accounts I had back in March. I use What's app to talk to my kiddos in Africa, and then I spend wayyyy too much time on here 😜
  15. That explains why some of them were so Onry, I think the one tried eating my hand 😂
  16. Sure, it's a guard over the face, much like a sneeze guard at a salad bar helps, but maybe that spare boogie makes it in to the mashed potatoes 😁 I've never refuted masks, they help, they're easy, but they're not a total solution. So many people in my circle have said that if we all wore masks since day 1 then this would be over by now, I just can't get there. Hell, I even agreed with keeping big gatherings down, concerts, etc. Much like Sweden still did. I am having a hard time with all the other little things that are simply window dressing. 8 months in, it seems longer.....here's hoping with fingers and toes crossed that by summer we can start getting back towards a more normal life.
  17. The increasing psych that I'm seeing specifically in practice are relating to the socio/socioeconomic ramifications of this all. Many parents can't handle dealing with childcare/work/economic issues, especially with schools not having students and parents having to put in so much extra. The pediatric psych cases have grown exponentially from my own little hospital alone, the separation of growing children, lack of social circles, etc; these are very very difficult during adolescence. Dementia is typically genetic, alcohol and drug use and some other disease processes can cause it, prolonged metabolic encephalopathy can cause the brain to essentially not work as well. Prolonged psychiatric issues can also lead to memory loss; I may be unaware, but I'm not sure of any of the coronavirus/influenza or other similar viral families causing early dementia. With your last point, Covid is 100% affecting those with mental health issues, but it's the Covid response and surrounding issues that are impacting these people; to this point we're still very very split on it as a country, very sad to see. I empathize with those that are affected
  18. Enjoying the warm air and the beautiful Scenery, while the world worries about crap, I'll keep living until I die.
  19. Ummm no, that's hogwash. Most of the mental illness cases are here and now, an inordinate increase in cases as well as mental health inpatient visits and suicide attempts and completions.... All thanks to Covid. This is especially concerning to me in pediatric cases that have reached a paramount number in recent months. Maybe these people are being singled out by the lunatics who are so Covid crazy they need mental help because they had the virus. Talk about a serious divide in the country.
  20. Good to see, thanks for this. I know in the hospital we're getting 3M masks I believe, but sadly many of the others I see floating are not of this quality Am I not on your ignore yet man, you really should just do it.
  21. Again, the virus is 30 microns in diameter, an N95 has 95 microns of space between weaves. 3 viruses could hold hands and walk right through that mask. This whole N95 thing is blown out of proportion, it's better than what else is out there, but still not as secure as the prevailing thought. On top of that, I'm seeing cheaply made KN95 masks from China everywhere, and just by looking at them, you can tell its false advertising. Many of the nurses at the hospital that have Covid currently, wore an N95 all day every day.
  22. Buffalonians raised over 34k for Oshei hospital after hearing about the loss of Allen's Grandmother, they started a 17$ donation button and reached that overnight. Pretty awesome!
  23. The virus should be attenuated, basically inactivated, so the body is responding to the shell of the virus to invoke a response without the virus being able to replicate. Vaccines basically alert the body that there is an intruder, the body sends in the forces (usually why you feel a little crappy after the flu shot) and the body then stores that to memory, typically T cell mediation, this allows the body to be immune to future infections with an active virus. For how long is unknown, maybe each year, and most probable with this family of viruses. The biggest concern would be future mutations to the Sars-cov-2 that would render the vaccination much less effective, and that's anyone's guess.
