Doug Allen to sing the Anthems before the Sabres-Nashville Game 1/31/25

Made a minor correction above. -
Yup. My son is 27. The last time this team was relevant he was in middle school. The odds of him developing a fervent fanhood now are pretty unlikely I should think. A whole generation skipped. What an idiotic situation.

Nostalgia. That is all that’s left. -
Random dude on the barstool next to me wasn’t judging. It was said with humor as the intent. But it does show just how stretched fandom in this team has people. (Too lazy to get the grammar right) Terry, you really need to stand up and take notice. You are maybe a season or two from flushing a wonderful fanbase down the toilet.

I still wear my Sabres attire out and about. Just last week I was in a local watering hole and a random guy next to me ask, you still wearing that stuff? Yes, yes I am. I am still a fan. I don’t enjoy it enough to watch them right now, but they are still my team. Stockholm syndrome, maybe?

I know you directed this a TAS, but I’d like to answer as well. The Bills drought and the Sabres drought really changed my outlook on sports. I just want to be entertained. The more you can entertain me, the more acceptable the losses are. This loss to the Chiefs doesn’t bother me. Am I disappointed? Absolutely. But this team has provided so much entertainment value over the last fews years that I don’t see a point in getting myself all knotted up over that game. KC has made the entire league look second rate over the last 5 seasons. Do I wish the Bills could too? Yup. Am I upset they can’t. Nope. They got my hopes up and put me on the edge of my seat. I got my money’s worth. Maybe that’s a low bar. I’m ok with that. If only the Sabres could meet that low bar too.

I’ve had some adopted teams win championships (Dodgers, Syracuse Orangemen, Bears during the Walter Payton era), but none of them had the shear emotion that a Buffalo team winning a championship would have.

Tyson Kozak Recalled Aube-Kubel assigned to Rochester

This might be one of the only teams in the league where he makes the roster at all. -

When Vancouver wouldn’t bite on the Aube-Kubel for Petterson offer KA floated, this was inevitable.- 46 replies

The rest of Winter will be pretty bleak for fans of Buffalo sports teams. This was the most entertaining Bills team in my memory. Hopefully changes made in the offseason are for improvement, and not filling holes due to losses.

Does the fact there has been no movement actually signal hope?

Just a 3 game winning streak away from trending upward. -
Inky is talking to himself again.

Why do people on the internet have to read things that aren’t there? I didn’t say whether I endorsed it or not. I didn’t provide my opinion on Tage Thompson. I merely predicted that if the deal happens, Tage is part of the deal. Sort of LaFontaine for Turgeon lite. 1C for a different 1C. Vancouver is in win now mode. They aren’t accepting picks or prospects as the main deal components. I doubt they knowingly downgrade at center by accepting Cozens as the primary Buffalo component. I think it is going to take a player that is of Thompson’s stature to pry Petterson from Van. So that is my prediction, if Petterson is traded to Buffalo, Thompson will be going the other way.

It’ll be Tage Thompson moving out if it happens. Book it.

If the rumors about Millers personality are true, it wouldn’t be long at all before he became a real problem in the room. No way his personality would shine on a team so ill equipped to win.

The beginning of the year rosters make it plainly clear they are not committed to winning, I don’t care what KA says in an interview. ”and if you are going to be bad, may as well be xxxxing bad”. -

For those on Reddit, there is an interesting thread on Ted Nolan’s most recent book. He had some pretty damning things to say about the way he thinks Pegula is running the team. He talked about the futility of playing green players without enough veterans and claimed Pegula once told him, “if you are going to be bad, be xxxxing bad”. -
The counter to that is, FEMA are subject matter experts for disaster management. By moving it to the states we now have to develop 51 subject matter expert teams to handle, making the overall cost to the country higher. Each state will have to fund leveling up their game to account for no federal response. even states that historically have low need for federal response will need to up their budgets significantly for the “just in case”. That’s pretty inefficient overall. I don’t really have a strong opinion regarding FEMA beyond the economy of scale to having a national organization expert at disaster response.

Close enough to a “yes” for me.

So, it is your position that when he said he couldn’t reimburse you, he was bluffing? And him paying you out of the register after you got in his face and became belligerent (berserk, I believe is the word you used to describe your behavior) is evidence of that? When his drawer didn’t balance at the end of his shift he almost certainly had to take cash out of his pocket to pay it back. Good job, you. You sure showed that malingering clerk a thing or two about something he had no control over.
