Trade Deadline Predictions - Who Comes, Goes, and Who Stays?
Weave replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
Another in a long line of seasons as sellers at the deadline. Oh my, how exciting /s i think all 3 of KO, ZG, and EJ will find new homes. And the rest of this season will be even more unbearable to watch as whatever 4th line we assemble gets caved in game after game and a fleet of unprepared and unready kids get trotted out and fed to the wolves. I just can’t anymore. -
I don’t think there is any chance he comes back. I’m nearly certain this is Kyle’s swan song. He will retire in the offseason.
-
I rooted for Mike Ramsey to win one. I’ll add Kyle to the list. People happy to see Kyle go are doing so because of what he wasn’t. However, what he is is substantial, and will be missed. Effective 4th liner with enough offense to be a powerplay contributor. Grizzled pro that taught the kids how to become NHLers Effective when needed to move up the line up. Respected around the league. In this org, that is a feat in and of itself. Don’t underestimate how important this is when every FA of substance has Buffalo on their “no” list. I know EJ didn’t work out as well as hoped, but we don’t even get him without KO. He had been an ambassador for the organization at a time where recruitment is tantamount. Consistently played hard and made himself accountable. I can’t ignore or forget the health issues he went through and fought back from as a member of this team. During the worst era in Buffalo sports Kyle Okposo went through hell and back to continue to be here. He WANTED to be here during this mess. Mad respect. Assuming we lose Kyle, there is no replacement for what is left of the season that will be as effective as Kyle was. There is no addition we make this season that is better than Kyle. No kid is coming in and being more effective than Kyle was. This loss Will absolutely make us less effective as a team in the short term. And the only way it improves next season is if Kevyn can find improvement from the outside. Good luck with that when noone else really wants to be here.

Yup. Total coward move. He sent a message. Unfortunately the message was well received.
-
Maybe he was looking for a confrontation and didn’t get it?
-
You’ve misremembered a couple of things. He wasn’t Mayor until ‘78. I’m pretty sure he uttered the famous “stay home and drink a 6 pack” instructions during the Blizzard of ‘85.

Lindy had his Roy. I think there would be room for Tage. But there would be a couple fewer of him.
-
The benefit of hiring Lindy Ruff to coach the Sabres is it would signal a commitment to actual results in the now. If they are serious enough about this seasons stumble to hire Lindy, I would be willing to bet money that we would see an exchange of picks/prospects for now players. And I also would be the mix of player types would improve as well. Granted, hiring Lindy Ruff doesn’t move my needle as a coaching change anymore. It does move me as a signal that what has been acceptable to date isn’t going to be acceptable any longer.
-
OK? And still we we backed down from a Mark Scheifele level bully. Wow.
-
No. Rookie. GMs.
-
Stop trying to make Lindy Ruff fired a thing!

Dahlin hasn’t done that in quite awhile. Frankly, I think it is out of character for him. It always looked forced to me. I want a couple of guys who smile before they do it. I can’t think of a dirty thing they have done.
-
One of the several problems to our teams make up is we have too many fine young men. Show me the last team to win a cup that was exclusively fine young men. We need several *****. Someone to hack at Schiif’s calf, and a couple others to get the other team pretending not to notice.
-
Injury? Maybe to Ras’s pride. I hope Dahlin takes him on too, but the time to assert some dominance was about 20hrs ago, not at some future time. I wish we had a guy that put other top players on their heels without actually injuring them.
-
I miss the days when the Sabres and their fans expected winning too.
-
Other tough guy?

The Sabres didn’t need to retaliate, per se. But they did need to respond. That was an alpha moment by Schiff. The Sabres could have (should have) come out buzzing, and making contact, and asserting themselves. Im not saying that the slash and lack of response is the root cause of the loss. I am saying that the mentality behind it is at least symptomatic though. -

I feel like the game was lost when Schiffeile (I am not looking up the proper spelling) gave Dahlim that uncalled slash behind the leg near the end of the 2nd. That slash felt like a challenge that went unanswered. The Sabres could have come out fired up and let Winnie know that they were going to have their hands full. Instead the Sabres came out tentative and scared. The Jets sent a message. And the Sabres responded as usual over the last 13 years. -
Overall, the Sabres have been an above-average team defensively

I think we have a new poster drunk posting in the wrong thread on game days for this year. -

2% to 6% odds is a 300% improvement, so…… no idea if that math is goodly. -
