  1. I’m actually not trying to discount Ruff as a good coach. Specifically relating to the point Big Guava made, that Ruff would somehow galvanize a mentally weak team, history has shown Ruff to not have that particular trait with a set of players that was (Im guessing cuz Im lazy) 75% the same as the team that lost to Carolina in the conference finals.
  2. Different years, much of the roster the same, same coach. That coach couldn’t save the Drury-Briere Sabres from becoming the Sabres that couldn’t figure out how to rise above. Ruff is not a panacea.
  3. This is somewhat revisionist. Ruff was the coach during the Miller - Lucic incident and the “fragile little children” comments by Miller. Ruff is not a panacea.
  4. Not gonna dance on his grave, but it was the right move. Donny took the team as far as he could.
  5. We are the record.
  6. At the beginning of the season the coach and GM explicitly said that playoffs was the expectation this season.
  7. There is going to be alot of agreement with that article on this forum. Lots of familiar comments and criticisms.
  8. The day that happens is the day “trust the process “ jumps the shark.
  9. I got it. I was adding to it.
  10. Let’s not get carried away.
  11. Awesome!! He sucks now! Wooooo!
  12. Teams essentially secure their playoff births before Christmas. Even if KAs plan was to add Kane, he wouldn’t be available before Christmas. So if that was part if a playoff plan, it was a ***** stupid plan given the loss of Quinn’s offense.
  13. I tend to agree that Adams off season moves last season were not with a conviction of making the playoffs. Johnson was brought in to be a mentor, not a missing playoff peice. Goalie was still a huge question mark and wasn’t addressed at all. And Quinn’s production was not replaced when he got hurt in the offseason.
  14. I don’t think it is a slam dunk that our core is the right core. Legit concerns regarding Thompson and Cozens as your 1-2 center punch. I’m not really concerned about the defense.
  15. I’ll prefer this. But if the org is insistent on keeping Granato it has to be on the condition he has a Rick Bowness type assistant and a another veteran assistant coach. I might be OK with bringing Appert up as long as there is well tenured, successful coach (in the NHL) as the other assistant.
  16. I gained alot of respect for Michelson watching a Wednesday practice round for the PGA Championship at Oak Hill in 2003. Lefty and Daly were paired up. I don’t remember which par 5, but they came up to the tee box and pulled 3 woods out of their bag. The small crowd around the tee box booed loudly. Phil and John chatted very briefly and grabbed their drivers. The crowd cheered, and they put on a brief show. Phil used to get it. Daly always did. It appears that Michelson’s self importance has taken over. I don’t have that respect for him anymore.
  17. This is the height of hyperbole. Noone is suggesting Murray made good choices. Demonstrably, he selected poorly, both at the draft, and who he chose to trade for picks/prospects. But that wasn’t the point of conversation. The point of conversion was regarding whether Murray traded away too any picks, and it is a fact that he made more draft picks than we were granted through normal means. Noone is arguing about the quality of Murray’s choices. Do you even context?
  18. And if the argument is Murray made poor decisions with the assets we had, I won’t quibble either, but he demonstrably did not squander draft picks. He did trade away and acquire them like the currency they are, and he used more to make draft selections than the team was naturally allotted during his tenure.
