  1. We got a legit 1st line winger for a steaming bag of Pu. 'bout time this organization got serious about icing a winning team. today.
  2. Wasn't Buffalo rumored to be in on Skinner leading up to the draft though? I seem to recall that was the case. It seems this one needed time in the slow cooker.
  3. Innit though? I'm almost giddy at the thought that we moved lottery tickets for a really good player that will be due for a contract. It's like the movie Freaky Friday
  4. Building a team that plays to Housleys strengths.
  5. He’s got to be thrilled to have an elite center leading up to his next contract.
  6. This is very much accurate. We've been here before and nothing came of it. I realize that a few of these kids are more highly rated now, but after those few kids, this game has been played.
  7. Maybe a pit in the parking lot as I'll be walking in like that.
  8. LOL thanks. Pain is diminishing already. But the whole left side of my face from the center of my nose down is quite swollen. Slayer show is in jeopardy.
  9. I've only paid slight attention, but aren't all 3 QBs getting first team reps?
  10. Sometimes the only way to retain a player is to pay more than you want. Tom Wilson and TJ Oshie don't exactly grow on trees. The decision making may have been based on an owner that wants a Stanley Cup roster for the next 5 yrs. If I were to guess, the owner wants what is left of Ovie's career to be maximized. Are guys like Wilson and Oshie critical to that? I'm not the right guy to answer, but someone apparently thinks so.
  11. Had some oral surgery yesterday. The bone graft was a new experience. I'd rather not do that again. In my late 20's I had two front teeth broken off at the gum line in a beer league hockey game. Resulted in 2 root canals and 2 crowns. 20 some years later and those repairs were all used up. Apparently an abcess (sp?) formed that I never felt, had no outward symptoms. Doc figures it might be a 2 yr old abcess. He was quite surprised that I'd never had any symptoms. Needless to say, the bone damage in my upper jaw was fairly significant, hence the bone graft. I could really use an opiod right now. and they don't seem to prescribe them anymore. And his work isn't done. He expects this will result in 1 or 2 more root canals in the very near future. The damage spanned the bone above 4 teeth in total.
  12. And I have almost no opinion on the worth of Tom Wilson. Can't say I've ever really watched him with a critical eye. Every single one of my posts on this subject has been in regards to the market forces that shape these contracts, not Tom Wilson.
  13. The whole conversation is in regards to Tom Wilson, who is 24. Not yet in his peak. And the deal ends right about the time a player statistically would begin a decline.
  14. Just a guy. readily replaceable NHL talent.
  15. Those tennis racket things do work well for picnic level bug zapping. They'll kill yellow jackets readily. But there is no way I would wade into an active yellow jacket nest armed only with that. Way too close to the horde for effective defense.
  16. Ok? I tend towards agreeing here. Doesn’t really change the dynamics though. My only point was regarding the dynamics, not whether Wilson is worth that contract in my opinion. I’ll be honest, after the better part of a decade watching our team moving out anything of value when a contract is up, I’m not sure how much I’ll be inclined to bitch when our team overpays to keep a player that was a key part of winning a championship. Its been a long damned time since we’ve had to decide whether to pay a hero.
  17. Sure, lets argue the point at the extremes and not the margins. That makes sense. We are talking about a player in his prime.
  18. I would think the most accurate projections are based on past performance. These aren't the most interesting arguments, really. there is elements of both in play. the reality is, contracts aren't based on projections or past performance nearly as much as they are based on what the market will bear. Or, at minimum, the perception of the market.
  19. Am I the only one who can't figure out who fushetti is?
  20. The other way requires a working crystal ball.
  21. I could only pick 4 in the first poll. So much meh that there aren’t obvious choices beyond 4. And I didnt pick for the 2nd question. Again, so much meh. Can’t say I have strong feelings about any of them.
  22. I don’t hate that.
  23. Was your brother working at Town and Country when a guy with a shotgun was in the parking lot threatening to shoot up everything/everyone ovet a dispute with his landlord? It was the same year I think. I got caught in the intersection for that one too. Absolutely chilling to be trapped in gridlock with a guy waving a shotgun all over the place.
  24. Passed about 100yds in front of me. I was driving home from work on Union Rd. when it went by. Didn't actually see a funnel though. Just tons of debris flying around.
