I take solace in knowing you were wrong about Reinhart at center in the face of obvious proof too. ?

Scott Arniel 2.0 and 2.1

Interesting trade as it doesn't seem to mesh with the emphasis on character, etc that has been preached as of late.

I did miss the show. My son gave my ticket to his GF. He hoped she'd at least enjoy the general bizarreness of a thrash metal show. Nope. She was miserable. I wish I could have made it. Especially being a farewell tour and all. I'm jealous of you guys that got to see them one last time.

I assume what he is looking for is the next James Patrick or Teppo Nummenin. Part on ice coach I suppose. And yeah, there are a very small number of those in the league.

Damn kids today. -
I'd put Okposo with Mitts before I'd put Sam with him. Even if he has faded due to injury, he'll teach the kid to be a good pro and have good habits.

Should Jbot Try To Add to This Roster Before Next Season?

Pretty sure it's not autocorrect. Search the term and I think you'll find GA has been using it almost since the day we acquired him. -
It's like we compared notes....

I wouldn't define Reinhart as steady. He was on vacation for the 1st half of last season. Put one of the heady, grizzled vets on his right wing.
-
Another point regarding Botteril's makeover, it absolutely, 100% hinges on Mittlestadt being ready for a significant role on the team at center ice. If Casey falters, we'll have one scoring line. That's a pretty substantial bet. If he works out this season, the moves should be enough to get us significant improvement. If Casey can't make it happen this season, losing ROR is going to be extremely painful. It's not a Buffalo thing. I'm sure every fanbase does it. Other than that, I agree with you generally here.

Strong backchecking and a decent PKer. Wasn’t out of position in hos own D zone. He was effective in 2 way play.
-
Need a choice for liked some of the moves, didn’t like others. At best I’m neutral on the ROR trade. Love the Skinner trade. Not a fan of the Kane trade. I will say this, I am very happy that we’re making hockey trades and not jettisoning good talent for lottery tickets. Gives me some measure of hope anyway.

I dunno. If asking for a straw is a hassle....... seems like a petty complaint to me. -

Disrespectful to the player, not the alcohol. I'd call a guy Vodka because of his drinking habits. If someone called me Weller I'd get that. I earned it. I can own that. I'd not call someone I don't know that type of nickname though. -

Not sure how to say this without sounding snarky, it's not meant that way. Re-read the straw portion of Eichsnipe's post. He said many places have stopped serving plastic straws "unless you specifically request one". You can still get your straw. You just need to ask for it. Nothing stupid about that. Might just eliminate some unneeded landfill material. It is efficient. The engineer in me appreciate that. I agree with your comments re: solar panels. The pay off period is too long for me to jump into investing in them. And I have concerns about long term efficiency and durability. It's too big an investment for me to be an early adopter. And by the time we can say with real world data what the durability and efficiency will be at the point the investment has paid off, I'll be an old man. I think environmental controls is the perfect example of what national level government should be involved in. Keep them out of my bedroom, church, and pasttimes. But our environment as a whole IS a state and national level interest. Without it, we'll be spewing fumes like we did in the 40's too. -
We've been "spoiled" over the last decade regarding having to make decisions about overpaying players in their declining seasons. tIf JBott builds a winning team, and we want to keep that train on track for a good length of time, we'll have to make that call at some point. If we end up not signing our 27-28 yr olds to long contracts because they will be in decline, we will be void of those vets that dynasty teams always seem to have. All it does is shorten our window of opportunity. I guess what I'm trying to convey is (and not very well), if we want to maintain a team that plays at a high level, signing guys longer than we want to will be inevitable. It's a good thing. It means we are trying to win now. Jeff Skinner might be the right guy to start that trend with. I don't know. But I am open to the idea. I look forward to that happening. It means we are maintaining our status as buyers and not sellers.

Not a fan of the Vodka nickname. To me, that seems like it would be disrespectful. If he earned it, that is one thing. To the best of my knowledge he hasn't. Not a nickname I'll be using. -
I'm not sure your first assertion is correct. We'll have to see how they mesh. Skinner is a play controller, just like Kane was. And Skinner is a shooter, just like Kane was. Over their careers they've averaged similar numbers of shots taken with a 10.7% (Skinner) to 9.1% (Kane) difference in shooting percentage. We'll have to see how meaningful that difference is with his new linemates. Your second assertion is likely correct though. Kane wasn't terribly effective at puck control in the O zone. But he made up for it with his forecheck and backcheck. Kane's play in the defensive zone wasn't commented enough on this site IMO. He was a pretty decent 2 way player. Skinner isn't known for either of those traits. Miro Satan might be a good comparable.

NYS bottle return law is a joke if you consider it as a recycling law. It is a litter law. Nothing else. Clear glass gets recycled at a higher rate than colored glass, and think of what percentage of glass bottled beverages use clear glass. Overall, something in the neighborhood of 40% of all deposit law glass actually gets recycled. The rest gets crushed and landfilled. There isn't enough profit in recycled glass to improve that figure. An additional $0.20 deposit won't change that. We need to incentivize use of recycled glass if we are going to affect real change. -

The flip side of that is, we are going to lose some of those warm bodies because we will have to expose some of them to waivers. We current;ly have more forwards on the roster than we can keep. Like 2 or 3 more, and that includes sitting a couple in the press box on game days. And we don't have roster space for forwards in Rochester anyway. Moving them now probably makes sense. -
I disagree with half of who you are accusing of being fragile. ROR didn't give up on games, periods, or seasons. I can think of a couple of guys who are still on the team and expected to be on our top line that have demonstrated that particular weakness. I think Pi has a valid concern, but I also think that a 50% roster turnover may go along way in mitigating that.

You might be the only one on here that doesn't think I'm a grumpy old man.

He;s gotta be done adding, right? If any moves are made now, it has to be subtraction I would think. -
There is quite a logjam in Rochester as well. 17 forwards if you include guys like Smith and Bailey. I think some bodies are gonna be released/bought out.
