  1. When I do grits for breakfast, it's savory anyway. Not a sweet breakfast guy at all. Which probably explains my aversion to pancakes.
  2. Contact info? ? the downside of grits is its a solid 30 minutes or more to get them to the right consistency. I rarely make them for breakfast because of the time involved. It's basically southern polenta. Have you ever had gritty polenta? For a dinner preparation I'll spend the time. And it comes out creamy and delicious.
  3. You're undercooking them.
  4. Grits are awesome. I'll agree on most pancakes being underwhelming.
  5. I'm betting that was in response to some taunting. Mitts got the last laugh.
  6. Watched the first 2 periods at a bar. Grocery shopped during period 3 and most of overtime. Didn't expect that ending when I left the bar.
  7. Too many guys sitting in Rochester? This doesn't bother me.
  8. Not for nothing, if that didn't go smoothly and the first week at home didn't go smoothly, a week without playing could have been to allow them to get their hands around whatever was happening.
  9. LOL But that wan't my point. Phil might just see the potential in this kid but maybe he wasn't doing something Phil wanted him doing. He obviously did something right in Montreal. We're quick to call Housley stupid because he's sitting someone we don't want sitting. The team is doing well. Maybe there is a method to what is being seen as madness. That's not an indictment of Erod, if anything it's more a postive take on Housley.
  10. My post wasn't what I think should happen. My post was what the article was stating should happen. I mostly agree with your point, family and people closer to the kids should be leading, and Jack's impact is likely minimal. But there is no harm in Jack trying to send a message either. I don't think Jack has any responsibility to "make it right" or send a message or whatever. And I don't think the article conveyed that he has a responsiblity. But the author would certainly like these stars to step up and try and change teh culture. I'm OK with that.
  11. Devil's advocate...... He sat because Phil saw something he didn't like and the message was well received, hence the performance against Montreal. All these opinions are assumptions that Housley doesn't know what he is doing. This teaming is playing like it hasn't in nearly a decade. Maybe Phil is doing something right here....
  12. That is hysterical.
  13. *so hungry for a brat now*
  14. Didn't see that article as an attack on Eichel at all. To me, it read as an example of a culture that is in need of changing, nothing more. It even said so right in the article. It's pretty clear to me that what the article is trying to do is get more high profile athletes like Eichel to publicly try to change the culture of boys using that kind of language. Again, it says that very thing right in the article. You don't even have to infer it. There is irony in being so sensitive that your first reaction is to express how overly sensitive you think this article was.
  15. Very Black Keyes. Like it alot.
  16. An MBA isn’t interested in fan entertainment or winning playoff games. You are going to have contracts that overpay in their later years if you want to keep some of the highest skilled players in the league. The trick is making sure those contracts aren’t paid to guys that aren’t difference makers. I think Skinner is a difference maker. I don’t care if he’s here 2 seasons too long if he’s getting me out of my seat for the first 5.
  17. Old used cars in the time range you've often waxed poetic about are in the era of reliability problems. Stop buying 1995 old man vehicles. Here's my complaint. Darkness. I wake up and drive to work in the dark. I drive home from work in the dark. I hate the Winter time change. At least two weeks ago I had sun in my eyes on the way home. Now I have high beam headlights in my eyes on the way home.
  18. Get well, Derrico. Hopefully this shall pass. Dark, regarding used cars. YDIW. I don't know how you are picking what you are picking, but YDIW. I worked in the auto industry for 25 years. Worked for tier 1 suppliers and directly with the largest automaker in the world. I've always had an employee discount or supplier discount available to me. And I've never owned a new car. Never. And it's been a couple of decades since my vehicle has stranded me or failed in a way that soured me on the vehicle.
  19. Zweigle's need to be grilled until the entire casing is browned and crisp. Otherwise the casing is rubbery and disgusting IMO. As long as the casings are crisped up everywhere, Zweigle's is a solid dog. Grew up in Buffalo. Grew up on Sahlen's. After trying Hoffman's this Summer I have to admit, Sahlen's is a 3rd place dog in upstate NY. That is, assuming Zweigle's skins are fully crisped up. A Zweigle's with undercooked casing is catfish bait though.
  20. Dammit. I didn't know they replaced their wings. How do I dig in my heels now?
  21. Not sure where to put this, so I'll put it here. What if George Bush was never elected President? Our system is going to continue to spiral downhill as long as win at all costs comes before good governance. Summary of the article... A death bed confession by a Republican strategist of the late 80's reveals that the front runner to win the '88 election was set up and framed. What troubles me most is that we, the electorate, have evolved since '88. We have evolved into an electorate that is willing to accept immoral behavior as long as it benefits our team. The most common comments regarding the election on the online version of my county's news all share the same message, "I plugged my nose and voted for Collins because it is more important that the Republicans keep control of the House". Last week a friend of mine voiced a similar sentiment about the need to make sure Collins gets re-elected. Never mind he's facing trial for Wire Fraud and Securities Fraud. And here's Collins comments to the media on election night. "I set a strategy, I think you'll see tonight that my strategy worked perfectly, it's about winning," Collins said. "Clearly, the media is not part of our strategy." We've re-elected a man who has no intention of being accountable. To anyone. In 1988 getting your picture taken on a yacht with a pretty young girl was enough to get you out of politics. Today, you can be accused of sexual assault by multiple women, have affairs with porn stars, or be under indictment for felonies, and have no political repercussions. I was never one that bought into the idea that we have lost our moral compass. That statement always felt like it was coming straight from the Jerry Falwell. Today, I think LTS is correct. We the people have lost our moral compass. I have never felt so much concern that we are nearing the end of the Great Experiment. So here it is, Wednesday. My House representative is on the minority side. He won't be on any committees. He's being investigated by the House Ethics committee. And he'll probably spend more time on his legal defense than he will on legislating. NY27 is going to be unrepresented for the next 2 years. But this is better than the other team getting a chance.
  22. Hall of diluted fame. Meh to all of them.
  23. StL traded away 3 honest NHL players to get ROR. Wouldn't surprise me if they added O'Reilly at the expense of the depth that served them so well. Shallow teams don't make playoffs very often.
  24. McMurray has requested a recount, but yeah, in all liklihood an indicted man is going to represent NY 27. I expected this, but I don’t understand it.
  25. Turn it on its side.
