  1. UB MAC champs again!
  2. We do our shepherds pie as a St. Paddy’s day leftover meal. Chopped corned beef makes a great shepherds pie filling.
  3. The problem with building a team to fit a system over the course of multiple years is, ***** happens. Players get injuries that permanently affect the way they can play. Other players age and the particular skill set they had diminishes. Yes, this happens with every team, but most teams adapt their system to the players on the roster and then tweak as the team evolves. In the meantime, the team is competitive, the locker room is healthy, and a culture is nurtured. Right now the team either can't or won't play Housley's system, and the losing is affecting the entire team. And the fanbase. The real locker room cancer is all of the losing games.
  4. Like the English settlers bringing starlings from home so they can hear familiar bird sounds in their new land, we make everywhere we go like home.
  5. I’m quite ambivalent about Housley as coach. There is too kuch wrong with the team overall for me to expend much emotion over Housley’s future, but yeah, it’s looking really bad for him.
  6. You probably didn't know. It's why we only have one child.
  7. My wife and I went through this 20 years ago. Very sad.
  8. Fights can be incredibly entertaining. And in the moment I watch, cheer, and am entertained. Hell, on this site I used to post Sabres fights with won/loss polls after every game. But in the aftermath of CTE and concussions, I don't mind that they are pretty much phased out. I hate knowing that Jeff Parker, Steve Montador, Derek Boogard, Wade Belak, Rick Rypien, and Mark Potvin have all killed themselves rather than suffer through the after effects of concussions. And that list doesn't include the fighters that medicated themselves to death rather than suffer. I don't feel guilty, per se. But I feel remorse. I can't watch those fighters fights on youtube. I know that those fights led to their early deaths. I still cheer in the moment, but I also have concern for their health afterward. Kyle Okposo the most recent example. I cheered at first, and then dread set in. I don't need to have that to cheer for anymore. The game is awesome enough to stand on its own without the fights.
  9. Processing what you don't see and adding it to what you do see pretty much is the definition of situational awareness. It's what keeps soldiers alive in the battlefield and workers safe in busy warehouses. Casey has NHL talent, yet he's a fringe player. Situational awareness is one thing that separates the good players from the mediocre ones. It may very well be that Casey Nelson is s fringe player because he lacks good situational awareness.
  10. Picasso’s is a Santoras spin off. Family, I’m pretty sure. Very similar. That pic makes me miss Buffalo pizza.
  11. https://wgr550.radio.com/articles/news/sabres-nelson-didnt-see-eichel-get-hit I am still unconvinced that he wouldn’t have had some situational awareness here.
  12. LOL “we aren’t changing anything”. Hey, brah, you stop watching or something?
  13. SDS, I will say it is refreshing that you are actively engaging in the conversations more. I certainly appreciate it.
  14. Regarding your first paragraph, no it doesn’t come down to my opinion on that. Not anymore anyway. We have evidence and on ice results now to gauge what happened. There is no evidence or on ice results that indicate that the team is improved by his absence, so addition by subtraction simply isn’t a viable claim any more. I’ll grant that the move could have been justified by that rationale but we cannot call it a success based on that rationale. If making the team better simply by removing ROR from the dressing room was the goal (addition by subtraction) mission not accomplished. You know when the locker room was better? When they were winning. The issues in that room weren’t about ROR. They were about a collection of highly competitive people being on a team that was not built to win. We’re seeing the same thing now. Skaters calling out goalies, Goalies calling out skaters, “we need to show up prepared”, “I need to be better”. The only thing different is the guy saying it into the microphone. Addition by subtraction sure sounded good. But it didn’t happen.
  15. That was easy.
  16. My point questioning the math was, the justification for trading ROR was that moving him was addition by subtraction. Well, we subtracted, where was the addition? Did the team become less mopey? No. Do they still suck? Yes. Like I said in a previous thread, the only thing that changed is Eyeore has a young face now. You can’t vall the ROR trade an addition bu subtraction trade anymore. That math doesn’t add up. The results are right here and now as evidence.
  17. I still don’t see how situational awareness shouldn’t be a major factor in the criticism. Whistle, pause, board hit, star and captain on the ice with zadorov standing over.
  18. LOL Berglund was the difference maker. You a funny guy.
  19. You are running out of time. Be safe out there.
  20. My freezer is out of walleyes. Good thing the Fall perch bite was pretty solid this season.
  21. Except when the mathematical proof didn't solve properly.
  22. Came for this. Left satisfied..
