We have a 1st time GM, first time head coach, and a young team with minimal veteran leadership. How was it not evident to the experienced manager of hockey operations that this combination might have substantial risk? Oh, wait.... nevermind.

One page an hour and 15 minutes before game time. Thanks Terry.

Bittersweet day in the weave household today. We are empty nesters now. Moved our son into an apartment this afternoon. The house is going to be quieter for sure.

This is my take as well. And it seems to be a pattern with him. He has stretches early in the season where he is aggressive and plays with real mean streak, and he's very effective during those times. But that play always seems to fade and doesn't really come back except for glimpses here and there.

Happens in every fanbase. Nothing different going on here.

Kane said himself in an interview that he was never approached about a contract.

Wow. what a throttling so far.

I’ve been begging my wife to get her passport for a couple of years now. I’m hoping this will be the incentive she needs to actually follow through. No way I’m going without her.

One thread. And you’ve terribly mischaracterized it.

2 pages at game time. Against the Leafs. Terry, what have you done?
-
Because they've been tank level bad outside of it. Not mediocre. Not below average. Among worst in the league bad.

The link I posted shows that hitting and winning are not mutually exclusive. I’d like to see what data tom webster is seeing.

The numbers aren't obvious. https://www.foxsports.com/nhl/team-stats?season=2018&category=MISCELLANEOUS&group=1&time=0&pos=0&team=1&page=1 Top 10 teams in hits this season are a mix of playoff and non-playoff teams. Pittsburgh, Vegas, Edmonton, Montreal, NYR, Tampa, Carolina, NYI, Arizona, Boston.

You and me both. My smoker is up for sale. I'm not on a 90% veg diet, but meat was cut in half and starches were cut 90%. I think I lit the smoker once last Summer. Are you hitting Chautauqua this year?

He looks like Casey looked at the end of last season. Let’s see what happens when the adrenaline subsides.

Buffalo’s possessions stats suggest that they don’t have the puck enough for that to be an excuse.

They are being pendant because it is a gender difference. Patricia would have been the Roman female version that would be appropriately shortened to Patty.

I think it is about the best holiday you can have. Cook a meal you like, drink some beers, watch a parade if you are so inclined. And that is the extent of it. Unless you want to make it more than that.

Tight checking, boring game for much of it. IMO that needed to be the way they played all season. Allen did not look good in net for StL. I'll take it. I missed the 3rd. Glad they squeaked out the win.

Glad you liked it.

Our corned beef just went into the oven. Yes, oven. We make corned beef less conventionally. We prefer flat over point. Once the flat is cured it gets rinsed off good, and then dried thoroughly. We slather on a good coat of coarse mustard, and a spread a few tablespoons of brown sugar onto the top of that. Goes into a large, covered baking dish, and into a 275-300 degree oven. Usually takes 3-4 hrs to roast until tender. Once tender the heat goes up to 350 and the lid comes off to firm up the mustard-brown sugar crust. Takes about 20-30 minutes. Remove from the oven and rest for another 20-30 minutes before slicing. Against the grain, thin slices. Served with colcannon. Look it up. Mashed potatoes, cabbage, and bacon all in one delicious side dish. Ginger butter glazed carrots on the side as well. Roasting instead of simmering results in a different texture. The corners get crispy, which is the best part. You do need to thoroughly rinse the roast beforehand or it'll be too salty. BTW- Americas Test Kitchen cure recipe is very good here. But we've done it with store bought corned beef as well. In fact, today 's is store bought.

There are certainly people who do take kids. IMO it's not a good scene for it.

I don't think screening the goalie isn't in the game plan. PH has talked about players not getting to the front of the net. At this point in their development/careers, I can't imagine a forward needing to be told/reinforced that he needs to go the the net. But here we are....

Saw today that since the last game of that 10 game win streak the Sabres are trending a points pace that is last overall in the league, tied with Ottawa. Woof. Don't make me hate Iron Man too.

Highly recommended if being in a sea of drunken shenanigans is your thing. Guaranteed the drinking has already started on the parade route.
