  1. From Scott Lincicome of the Cato Institute: Trump has now spent 18 mos injecting (or threatening to inject) new taxes, almost at random, into the global economy, with zero significant pushback from congress, the courts, or the WTO. Of COURSE that's gonna make investors think twice abt dropping billions into new projects. In response to the news that the US Economic Policy Uncertainty Index is at a 34 yr high. Companies are not pumping cash into capital investments as promised when those tax cuts were passed. My employer announced on Thursday that they are projecting 4-6 quarters of stagnant or shrinking sales projections. I don’t know about you all, but I’m tired of all this winning we are receiving.
  2. Winner.
  3. My section at the Metallica show sat. F that. It’s Metallica. I’m standing and if you’re behind me you’re going to have to stand too.
  4. Sitting in a VA bar eating lunch around noon and it was Buffalo Ottawa playoff game.
  5. Man, I can’t make this and I’m not happy about it. En route to VA for a business trip and won’t be back in town in time for the show. And my dog is on his last legs and may not make it until I get home. Really not happy to leave my wife with that.
  6. So glad that camera wasn’t in selfie mode.
  7. Yup. That wasn’t speculation like some of the other awesome guesses (D4rk contracts, my Roy/Ott call). That was insider mofo info.
  8. Wat? Was my favorite Oiler from that era.
  9. Bust is a really negative adjective indicating a failure to meet expectations. 3rd picks are expected to not make the NHL. They arent busts, no matter how much you want to contort the definition.
  10. I think the sniper is next best. 10 yr second line, sometimes first line pure goal scorer.
  11. I feel about the same way. An employer has a responsibility to protect you from yourself while, at least during the time you are actually working for them.
  12. It was a very different league then. Well before the concussion lawsuits.
  13. Read the full concussion history on LaFontaine. It's out there. I'm too unmotivated to hunt it down. He was having concussion issues when he was still with the Islanders. Then 3 more if my memory serves with Buffalo. The guy needed to hang it up.
  14. I have a different viewpoint on that. They traded him to let him do what he wanted for an organization that was willing to let him harm himself. You could say the Sabres did him a favor by letting him continue his career, harmful as it turned out to be.
  15. I think that it all develops together, culture and winning. So I have no dog in this race.
  16. I don't think that is accurate. He was on blood thinners to treat what had already happened. There is no legitimate doctor that is going to clear someone on anti coagulants to play a game with sharpened blades and high speed contact. It wasn't future blood clots that kept him medically unavailable, it was the reality of bleeding to death in the event of a bruise or a cut.
  17. Casey appears to have Tim Connolly upside. But I also think that he and Joker might have the highest probability of falling short of their ceiling.
  18. This right here is an excellent example of culture. They have built an expectation of do whatever it takes to gain advantage. Culture. Right. There.
  19. I think they call that gaming the system. You’re talking about retirement.
  20. Sloop juice might be the most representative beer in the NE IPA style. Lots of citrus, cloudy as all get out, not quite dry finish, and bitterness that is really soft. Classic huge late hop addition beer.
  21. Really interesting seeing all the votes for Sweetness given there is debate about whether he is the best RB all time, let alone greatest player. Payton was my football hero in the 80s.
  22. Bobby Orr gets my NHL vote. Ali gets my boxing vote, buy I think arguments can be made otherwise. Petty in NASCAR seems obvious to me. Nicklaus in golf. So many ridiculous athletes in NFL for me to be able to single one out.
  23. It wasn’t that long ago we were feeling the same vibe about Gigensons. At this point I think UPL is the most likely to hit his ceiling.
