Donald J Trump, your thoughts on his Presidency
Weave replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Oval Office (Politics)'s Topics
Hume is a Fox guy now? The only Romney quotes I’ve seen were dodges. But I haven’t seeked out full interviews or anything like that. That would be even more disappointing. -

To be fair, he said that the specific tweets didn't elevate to racist, not that the man isn't racist. I suppose if you squint real hard and look at it sideways long enough a non-racist judgement may seem plausible. While still believing the man who hit "post" is a racist poop bag. Is Britt Hume associated with the Republican party? I don't watch TV news. Haven't since we cut the cord 8yrs ago. Last I recall Hume was a CNN reporter that covered election stuff. Never struck me as biased then. I'm disappointed in Romney side stepping that. All courage was lost with McCain's passing apparently. I don't see how I could ever walk back to the GOP after all this. They are badly soiled AFAIAC. -
You jelly, bro?

Oh snap. PPM inbound. Aaaaaaand you have another "following" now. I figured we'd all chat about this as it got closer and I'd show up, go in, and listen to tunes. Tickets and a sell out? Respect, man.

When this thread ran its course I was tempted to start a most hated Sabre thread.

He gets it.

At this point I don't know why, but this morning's tweets by Trump have left me shocked. Telling 4 black Congresswomen to go back where they came from in a published tweet. There can't be anyone left that still questions whether or not he is a racist, can there? I mean, at this point, they might as well own it and embrace the racism, cuz it's out there for everyone to see now. It's not even subtle or wink, wink, nod, nod anymore. -
You have no idea..... ?

I vaguely recollect that now. Yeah, it was a long time ago. Kudos for voicing a lasting sentiment.

I try to get names pronounced correctly, although I readily admit that I'm probably wrong as often as I am right. If a player says his name is pronounced "this way", I try to pronounce it that way. To me it seems.......disrespectful? I guess.... to willfully ignore how a player pronounces their name. Someone correct me if I am wrong here, but wasn't one of Don Cherry's shticks to mispronounce player names that he didn't respect? Especially European names? My father was/is weird about this. He'd put French accents on non French Canadians, and 'Muricanize actual French Canadians. To this day I have no idea if he is doing it intentionally. For example, Patrick Roy was always pronounced in the US/English phonetic way but he always strained out a French pronunciation of Darcy Regier. Think Rej-ee-ay.

Headstones at Artpark last night. Went with my son. We tailgated in the parking lot beforehand. That was a new and enjoyable experience, tailgating with my legal drinking age son for the first time. We hung out and had a few beers before the show. It was an all Canadian band lineup. And very diverse in style. 2 of the members of Barenaked Ladies opened. Fun, funny set. Some social commentary. The played a mix of BNL stuff and some other stuff that I think was from outside the band. Steven Page has a hell of a sense of humor. Lowest of the Low brought a laid back reegae style. The Trews came out and put on a solid, high tempo set of their radio hits. And then The Headstones came on and burned the place down. It was a thrash punk heavy set, not their usual greatest hits playlist. They put out an audio onslaught of their grittiest, thrashiest stuff. 75 minutes of mayhem. Today I can't hear, I'm sleep deprived, and my back is killing me. Can't wait to do it again. Just not today. Or this week.

I adopted it while we've been wandering through the desert, but I can't take credit for it. That was a Deluca-ism. He used it as a counter to the folks who said we didn't need Kovalchuck.

Interesting, if not unexpected pattern here. "Fun" players overwhelmingly are fan favs. Even in supposed blue collar Buffalo.

Bucket trap. Youtube.

What was the take away?

*waited too long to set the hook* See PA, it doesn't have to be evil.

They make my point perfectly. No need to throw away multiple seasons to acquire any of them, not even initially.

*Looks at the St. Louis roster*

And yet we threw away multiple seasons to acquire one.

Ha! I saw NT and assumed it was at the Riv.

How do you not know about the Riviera Theater? Been there forever.

All the prospects. Honestly, I think Girgs turned out about what his skill set projected to. Same with Z. Girgs was drafted at a position in the draft that usually ends up bottom 6. Same relative deal with Z. I think Nylanders problems were his own, not the organizations. Grigo and Risto...... there were red flags re: Grigo. That might be who he was. Risto? I could see a case being made that he was simply the wrong pick at that draft position. Back when Landeskog was drafted, one of the big draft prognosticators (don't remember which one) cautioned in an article to be very careful about drafting 18yr olds with a man's body. The thought was, their early physical development allowed them to dominate in juniors, but their development was about done and they often don't have much development room to grow in the NHL. Obviously, the alarm about Landeskog was in error, but looking back at Girgs, Zad, Kassian, Risto, they all fit the pattern. Overwhelmed their 18 yr old competition but didn't have much more to offer as they aged into the NHL.

So very much this. You can't assume Mitts is gonna develop into a 2C. Well, WE can, but it would be negligent on the GM's part to make that assumption. Get a 2C. IF Mitts develops, we'll have the top 3C in the league.
