  1. Of all the Danny Gare moments, for some reason the one that came to me immediately was after he was traded to Detroit. The Wings were playing in Buffalo. A scrum started on the ice. I didn’t catch who started it. Gare was involved. Playfair waded into the pile and grabbed Gare and pulled him out. Gare turned and saw it was Playfair that had him and immediately turtled. Was funny as hell.
  2. In defense, he was on the broadcast team during that era.
  3. I disagree. Only one major media outlet appears to be rather tied to a political party. The others are tied to broadcasting what is profitable. Sure, political leanings can be profitable, but only Fox is in lockstep with a party. Right now it is virtually state run media.
  4. I, for one, will miss Concept of Bogosian. He had a particular set of talents that we could use. I wonder what went wrong. My gut tells me his injuries at mid season every year were of the nagging variety that would have been handled differently if we were a team with hope. I think he’s another that lost his love for the game as a result of the debacle that has been Sabres hockey for the last 7 seasons. And now the combo of continued no hope and the diminishing skills after missing so much time has him on the outside looking in. I hold no negative emotions over Bogo. It should have worked out better than it did.
  5. I teared up. It's been too ***** long since we've seen that kind of excitement. Watching that video makes me hate all the more the day those sons of ***** decided to start losing on purpose.
  6. Any changes will come down to money. Ie. what is the NHL willing to pay the CHL for a handful of players to be removed from that league. I think it would be workable if the players affected were limited to 1st round picks only, and only one player per team in any given year. For example, Cozens would be affected by this for two seasons (I think). If the Sabres chose to put Cozens in the AHL that would mean if he is in the AHL again next season Buffalo wouldn't be able to move another player form the CHL to the AHL. Cozens already fills that 1 player in any given year spot. Yes, a CHL team could lose multiple players this way in a given season. But how often would that be likely to occur?
  7. I have no doubt that we likely have very different opinions on what constitutes spin. LOL Sometimes we just don't want to believe the results. At the end of the day it's the media that keeps us different from China or Russia. If I had enough motivation to do it, the previous years budget is available on line for public viewing. And the percentage increases that were proposed are well documented too. It wouldn't be that difficult.
  8. I think it has to play a role, especially with the vets. They know that teams focused on winning actively fill holes. When those holes go unfilled there must be an element of "why bother" that comes into play, even if only subconsciously. I mean, in every employment situation I have ever been in, when management hasn't bought into the stated goals it tends to be well noticed, and it tends to affect team performance overall.
  9. I'm trying to remember the Patrick history. He bailed quickly as well, or was he cut loose by the Pegulas?
  10. If the proposed budget for the military is $740B then that is way over half of all discretionary spending. Maybe that is what I read? I dunno.
  11. Again.
  12. People here have been saying the Bruins window is closing since the tank years.
  13. I don’t know how you blame the team for Hodgson. How were they to know a chronic, incurable illness would manifest itself after that contract was negotiated?
  14. I tend to agree that MoJo is pretty good at zone entries. That's one thing he does better than all on this team but Jack and Dahlin, really.
  15. I can't find it, not even on my news feed now. Or maybe I read it wrong. And can't find an article anywhere that compares proposed defense spending to overall budget size.
  16. It was on my Apple news feed. I have no idea how to link them here. I'll see if I can find it from my laptop.
  17. We'll definitely agree to disagree there. The military should not be sucking up >50% of an entire countries revenues in a non-major war period of time.
  18. Did I read correctly today that Trump’s federal budget proposal has more money allocated to military spending that the rest of the budget combined?
  19. This seems way too conspiratorial to be likely. I find it difficult to believe that PL hired a guy to fail when he also clearly stated that he needed to learn the job. Was he going to intentionally learn the ropes from an incompetent? Doesnt make sense to me. And this as well.
  20. Anyone watching XFL? My Godson is starting right tackle for NY Guardians. Had a good game today. I need to buy a jersey.
  21. I mean, what does the roster look like if those trades weren't made? Are we still without a 2C and a 3C? A starting goalie? A 1D? Does Dahlin end up here? IOW, does it even matter? My contention is, until I can be shown pretty conclusively, it didn't matter. Edit- to go back to my assertion that we needed vets to allow the kids to develop, I very strongly believe that the ROR trade absolutley needed to happen. Jack needed to be on the 2nd line. Someone needed to be the guy getting all the pressure while Jack learned to be a pro. I feel strongly enough about this that I think this season is the FIRST season Jack should have been the 1C. I think we needed ROR last season to continue to develop Jack. And that assertion extends to Sam, Dahlin, and should have happened to Risto as well. I'm hoping Casey gets that treatment now. He'll benefit from being in a situation that allows success.
  22. Common ground. At last.
  23. Honest question, as I have not been bothered in the least to pay attention, who did we forgo to get ROR, Kane, et al? And your assertion doesn't counter my main point, that the players GMTM went after were simply not the correct ones. It woiuldn't have been Kane, Bogo, Baptiste coming back.
  24. Woof. I guess if you are gonna support losing on purpose you may as well make it an ethos. My contention remains the concept was best for getting Jack and Sam into the proper environment. GMTM chose the players to surround them poorly. The risks of hiring inexperienced people to manage the transition. I will argue until I reach total apathy that this would have worked if we had the veterans surrounding Jack and Sam that Sidney and Gino had around them their first few years. But we destroyed any possiblity of that happening by going all in on the tank.
  25. Interesting take against this idea from some NHL GM's. I would have thought there would be near universal support for it at the NHL level because they have developmental control earlier.
