I was one that was saying we'll be good when he's our 13th forward, but I don't think I was alone in the thought, and I can't say I went above my abilities and had it as an original thought. And you lost me at Snuggledude. He's another one I was against the grain on. That guy so badly needed to be upgraded.

And here’s an advantage to bringing some sandpaper into a game. You think Cernak is a little distracted this morning? He sure is. For tonight anyway, I’ll take Dalton in the lineup over 7 or 8 of our other forwards.

It’s interesting how this place has adjusted its reactions to erod. He was the latest boy wonder for a couple of seasons here. I never understood the charm. He’s currently what he always was to my eye. Lazar is no better. Different game. Maybe we need the bigger game in the lineup. But he’s not really any more effective than erod. We definitely need better than both on the roster.

So we’ve traded Mitts for Smith with the farm team. Hey Mitts, you feeling a bit unappreciated yet? I seem to recall the gist of an interesting stat from last season. Roc’s record was way higher with Smith in the lineup than when he was out. My gut is he will have a minimal impact in Buffalo, but placate the fans for a game and the Amerks will miss him while he’s up here.
-
And an additional 5 pages when he’s sent back down on Monday.

Because constantly taking things out of context is directly related to you, of course. Nearly all, if not all, agree that signing Smith is not THE solution, but may begin to address one specific area of concern, so to go to the extreme in your responses, you might want to expect it to become part of the conversation.

Lots of implications that ONE of our problems is toughness, not THE problem is toughness. Living on the extreme all the time must be tiring.
-
Could have been a retweet he saw.
-
Definitely speaking for yourself there. Not that there is anything wrong with that.
-
Said noone. Why do we constantly go to an extreme to counter a point that was never made? I suppose you could loosely claim Ogre made that point. Maybe you should have quoted him?
-
Yup. Without big moments the little moments don't matter.
-
The worst part is, it isn't toughness per se that has been lacking. It's a genuine "I got your back" mentality that is missing. Passion for the guys around you. Infectious enthusiasm. That sort of thing. Which makes it all the more damning that we have to import those qualities from a career AHL'er.

Good to know. And will do.

My son is getting the shaft over this one. Was going with his GF. She changed her schedule so she could make the 7pm start. Now she’s locked in and he spent money on a date night that won’t happen. Its not like kids starting out have money to burn..... The one and only way I’ll pay to see this ***** show live is I may take them off his hands.

Sounds like Jbott wants some grit in reserve. Should be NHL talent level grit tho.
-
At this rate he's trending 3C in Roc as his upside....
-
My point was missed. And I am way to grouchy about non hockey things to expand on it. White flag raised.

At the risk of mis-speaking for PA, I'm pretty sure this is where his complaint (if you can call it that) lies. Way premature, and spoken with such conviction. Hopefully we'll see it at some point, but he has a long ways to go to be spoken of with the top handful of defensemen currently in the league, let alone an arguably GOAT. I think his point is valid. I'm not at a point of concern that he's destined to me "former 1st overall pick", but I also think his current prowess in his own end is overstated, as is his current ability to tilt the ice. Right now I see him as an OK defenseman and powerplay specialist. Good descriptions for a 19 yr old kid, but I think his current game is more over-hyped than his potential. Fortunately, he's early in the development cycle. Valid. He's not showing young Crosby compete for sure. Then again, Crosby's a first ballot HOF guaranteed. Rare stuff that only maybe 1 pick each decade has. It's no crime if Dahlin never gets to that level of compete. But it's what the Sabres need so it's not unusual that it might get brought up.
-
I recall massive hype. Like ZOMG Sabres stole one at this spot hype. Then again, other than Grigorenko, I think hype has been the skill set our draft picks have most excelled at.
-
I think that a 19 yr old defenseman having the expectation to be that difference maker is a problem. We here collectively expected it given the Norris and HOF talk. Noone last year or this year was saying things like Norris is spite of 10 goal seasons. It was his offensive game that was brought up the most.

How many seasons have been labeled “next season”? -
I think it has to be suffering. Coined by Darcy in 2010. Lasting through 2020 (at least). It really has defined the decade.

Nylander.

I think there is still time to add a 2C. And that would be my priority. I’d want to add some grit on the bottom 6 as well. I think we can live with Ullmark and 1 out of every 4 games of Hutton if we can get the 2nd line going. -
Yes.
